2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Hi everyone. Been reading for awhile and decided to jump on the dis. We are taking our second trip ever to DW this August and are staying for the first time at BC. Our first trip we stayed at WL. Though I thought we would never stay anywhere else's we added one more to our family in the 5 years since our first visit so after a lot of thought we decided on BC over GF.
My question is, with a standard view, do we have a good chance of getting both a daybed and balcony? We have 5 people (dw, dd9, dd7, dd4 and me) The day bed and balcony are our only requests. We need the daybed for one of the girls and the full balcony for somewhere to relax once the youngest crashes. GF would seem to guarantee this but BC seems more our style. We are going the week of Aug 18.
Thanks for your thoughts

Hey kcbonnie. In the grandest natebenma style :welcome: to the friendliest DIS thread. Great first scenerio to plan for and I think I have your answer.

With five you do not have to request a daybed, If one is avaible you will be assigned. Worst case you get a rollaway brought in. You can then use your main/formal request for a full balcony.Hope this helps

Looks like we will be there around the same time! :)
I tried to make ressies for Big River Grille, but it wouldn't let me, how did you do that?

180 days to go! So very excited especially after the day I had yesterday with WDW Reservations.

Booked everything we wanted!!!!

Big River Grille
Chef de France
The Wave (Hoping its the MNSSHP Night)
Coral Reef
Ohana
Kouzzina

Any reports on any of the above restaurants? We've only ate at The Wave but it has been 4 years since we've been at WDW and the kids are a lot older this go around.

Laurie...If you can swing it, go for CL. The flexibility is awesome. We always debate views, and we mix it up. Whatever you choose, have a great trip.

pixarmom - LOVE your pics thanks for sharing! Your pics make me want to try out YC. DH loves BC, but I would love to try all at some point. Gorgeous room! :thumbsup2

We checked in today and they were filling the closed section of pool. Pool Dude said it would be open this Tuesday,

Thanks Pixarmom for great pics! I am YC homesick! I loved your view too! We always had wedding gazebo on club level and that is a gripe sort of when you stay garden view on club, your view choice is extremely limited!!!!!

We are trying BC CL this summer and seeing YC now I am homesick. Hope your stay was terrific. Last summer we won a free disney trip and I too stayed in a mod for the first time in 10 years and it was POFQ and we all loved it too!!! So much in fact that to save on expenses this year we booked POR a few nights before BC CL.

Anxious to hear more!

Awesome! Thanks for the info. We arrive Thursday and I was hoping it would be open by then!

Pixarmom great pics. Your YC room was so nice and bright! Looking forward to hearing your comparison. No day bed? Was your room smaller then the BC rooms?

Wow - that's great to know! I'm really tempted to switch our reservation back to BC for this coming Thursday. I called the BC (and got an actual CM at BC) and she told me they are still telling people the 23rd because engineering has to decide when it opens. :confused3

So a mini report regarding YC. As I've mentioned before, I've been staying at BC for 20 years now and never tried YC. For a number of reasons, we decided to give YC a try and I'm so glad I did!

First, I had a special appreciation for YC because we transferred over from POFQ (stayed there before the AP discount kicked in - those peak season Easter rates are rough!) First, I'll say that POFQ is definitely my favorite moderate now - and I've stayed at CSR several times and CBR once. So many great things about it for a moderate. But I hadn't stayed in a mod for over eight years and it refreshed my memory regarding the differences between deluxe and moderate categories.

I completed many photo missions and will upload and organize those shortly, but will start with a few YC room photos and then share some BC vs YC thoughts in the next post. We booked garden view, and this room was just amazing - loved all the windows and the sliding glass door to the patio!

Thanks for the review! We decided to book a trip for May 2013 to "bribe" our daughter to get potty trained...I have resorted to stooping to bribing to get it done (not to mention I am getting rewarded with another Disney trip and no diapers :)) but we are struggling with where to stay. We stayed BC CL last year and LOVED it, we were considering trying YC CL or BW CL this time around (we are big Epcot fans so we don't even consider the monorail resorts). I'd be curious to hear your opinion on the difference between YC and BC!

I would just like to thank some awesome dis'ers who love the BC who really convinced me to stay at the BC even when it seemed that SABs rehab was going to damper our trip.. We leave tomorrow and it seems that SAB will be back to 100%.
If you followed my craziness you will remember that I called guest services and they switched me to the Poly and after 4 days of being there, I was so sad to not be in the BC/yc/BW area..
just do excited to be there tomorrow.. I am hoping to be posting a live report.. I am taking my IPad.. Does anyone know if I can post pictures from it? I seem to have had issues before..

Hi everyone:wave2:, I've not posted in quite some time (been busy with my crazy life). We are still headed back to BC in Nov. but I'm starting to second guess our room. When we were there this past Nov. we had a water view room that had an AMAZING view of the lake. We spent a lot of time sitting on the balcony watching the boats. So when I booked (with a bounce back) I booked a water view room. Seemed like a good idea.
Now I am toying around with the idea of changing to CL and I can't make up my mind. DH REALLY wants a water view and I'm afraid he will be disappointed if we don't have it BUT, the price of LV CL (with the discount) is $680 more than a regular water view room (I'm not sure I'll be happy paying that much more for LV).
Part of the reason for wanting to switch to CL is for DS10, he has Aspergers Syndrom and his anxiety sometimes kicks in when in the small hotel room. I though being able to go to the lounge (as opposed to the lobby) would be good for him to relax. I know he likes the idea of having a place to go and grab a snack, we stayed CL @ Hard Rock back in 2011 and it worked out well.

I guess I'm just looking for someone to help me justify paying all that extra $$ to make everyone happy.
Thanks for listening to me, I'm glad to be back:)
Laurie

Laurie - I would go with GV CL and ask for one of the rooms that has a nice sideways view of the lagoon. My oldest ds has Asperger's so I know what you mean - the lounge would be a good place to get away in the afternoon. The mornings are really crowded and you might find that it's actually better to bring the food back to your room in the am.

Hi, friends! I haven't been following the new thread. I think it switched over after our BC stay back in November, and I tend to avoid the boards when I'm not immediately planning a trip. We loved BC so much! Especially DD (4 years old).

I just had to share this with my other BC fans who will understand: DD just refuses to stay anywhere else now. WDW = BC, to her. We got a great fare with Southwest for May, so we're going to go down for a quick weekend. (Because, of course, we upgraded to APs on our last trip. I literally ran to the IG while we were waiting for DME to do it, too. We had THAT GOOD of a time.) In order to do this last minute trip, though, we're going to have to stay at a value: ASMo. I think DD will like it when we get there, and she's excited about this upcoming trip, but every now and then she pouts and says "I want to stay at the blue and white hotel." We keep having to remind her that other resorts at WDW do have pools, too. We're planning a beach trip this summer with family, and her response to that was "I don't want to go to the beach. I just want to go to the pool that's a beach."

Friends, cross your fingers and pray with me that we can swing another BC stay this October before our APs expire! We ALL want to get back!

P.S. I just went back to the beginning ... I'm so sorry to hear about the noodle family! They were so special to us.

Pool is open including the slide!

Awesome! How does it look? Are all the barriers, etc. down?

I'm so excited to have access to all of Stormalong Bay. Pool-time was going to be a big part of this trip for me and I was bummed by the closure. I'm so happy it's open again. :cool1:

I'm so happy it's going to work out for you guys!!! My first thoughts when I read about the repairs being done was how happy all those of you who stuck it out were going to be. :yay: Have a wonderful vacation. :goodvibes

When we stayed at GF some years ago you could have white chocolate Mickey and other characters delivered to your room. Haven't seen anything on the cake thread but wondered if this was possible at Beach Club. Alternatively do they do something similar at the Boardwalk Bakery?

Thanks for everyone's information on this thread.

I can't say for certain if they have the chocolate Mickey available, but I thought I read it was at some point.

I found this information that might help ... Walt Disney World’s Cake-Ordering Hotline at 407-827-2253.

Or try room service/in-room dining at the Beach Club.

Good luck!
