Pixarmom - I'm sure Teena will remember this. When we were first assigned the first floor deluxe room I was freaked out! Dh and I both have snake phobias! The cms were so nice and promised to make the "animal control" aka snake catchers check our room twice a day. I always checked myself before I sat down, especially early in the morning and never even saw a bug! We ended up loving that room. We also had two great waterview 1st floor at YC overlooking the marina (near the secret door).

Don't be afraid of the first floor and the patios - they are fantastic!

Quick question, if you don't mind!

Did you ever notice any loud talking coming from the hot tub area at night when you stayed in the deluxe room? It's so hard to tell from photos and Google Maps, but it seems awfully close to your bedroom windows. I just read that the quiet pool is open 24 hours a day, so it seems like it might be a slight concern at midnight if people decide to enjoy the hot tub after a long day at the parks.

None. Even though they are open 24/7 the latest we ever saw anyone in the pool was around 11:30 - and lots of times that was my kids taking a quick dip after coming back from the parks!

Great, thanks! I hate to be so picky, since WDW is probably the last place you should be if you don't like noise. LOL Since there are only six rooms and I know where they are all located I'm loosely making a list of my preferred room order just in case I'm able to choose from a few when I check in. :) I doubt it'll happen, but I like to be prepared.

I wouldn't worry about it. You always run the risk of rude people. They can be staying above you or next to you or just nearby and it can ruin your night. It happened to me once in Vegas at a casino in the hallway around 2 AM. Party outside of my room.

If there is loud noise anytime late at night and it continues for a while, call security and have them come and tell the guests to pipe down ... people need their sleep.

This is true! I actually don't mind people in their rooms talking or being loud because I'm sure I've been THAT person at times. LOL But the hot tub just worries me as I once lived in an apartment that overlooked our pool, and people get quite loud in them! I didn't exactly think that location through. Whoops!

Just booked our trip for April 14-21 at the Beach Club! SO excited! This will be our first stay at BC and our first trip to the world since 2009. (Disneyland is closer for us...)

Thanks to everyone for the great info on this board!

:wave2: I would love any words of encouragement from you folks....I have enjoyed reading this thread and the pictures are wonderful.

We cancelled a 3 night Dream cruise/6 night land vacation at Coronado Springs today. I have cruised on other cruise lines for no shorter than a week, and I just couldn't wrap my head around a 3 day cruise. It seems like we would just be getting settled in and have to be getting ready to go! So....I changed to 9 nights GVCL at the Yacht Club and saved at least $1,000 in the process. My DH doesn't know the resort I switched to (He's a Deluxe kind of guy ), and my girls don't even know we are going on a trip! Surprises for everyone!!

I'm so excited about going back to WDW,and very excited about the Yacht Club and Stormalong Bay, but I have a bit of cruise remorse right now. Will someone please tell me I'm going to be okay

I'm thinking they pretty much always go to the Yacht Club before the Beach Club, at least that's what we saw when we were riding the buses BACK to the resort. It was always in the back of my mind to go over to the YC bus stop if we were trying to get on the bus during a crazy time but it never happened because the buses were not a problem for our December trip.

I also was thinking a fun thing to do would have been to get Off of the bus at the Yacht Club and then go inside and check it out on the walk back over to the BC, but my boys were interested in Pin Trading so we had already been all over the Yacht Club checking out the Pin Trading books over there and the early exit from the buses was not needed.

Here is your complimentary Pin Trading tip of the day!
Pin Trading Books (I'm talking the multi page, LOADED with pins, BOOKS!) are generally located at:

:thumbsup2 One of the Hotel stores (At BC= Marketplace and at YC = Fittings & Fairings)

:thumbsup2 The main desk or some equivalent location in the lobby of the hotel.

~ And the super, not so secret location ~ :thumbsup2 The Bell services desk!

We had a great time pin trading with Teena as well! The bell services people really liked it that we came over and asked to pin trade with them so thanks to Teena for that tip!

~NM

Thanks again for the info :thumbsup2

So, as I've been reading through I've seen a post about 'Limited Time Magic' in 2013 - has anyone seen any examples of what this is yet? Very curious!

:scared1:
Ok now I am beyond freaked out about bugs and snakes. I will just keep telling myself the chances are slim over and over.
Bugs totally freak me out and dont even mention snakes:eek: but I've never had a problem and we've been going to florida most years since 1993 (except in AK were the bugs like to bite me no matter what-but I never see them doing it !!)
OK, you are totally right. I don't kill most bugs. I love to kill lovebugs. Give me a big fat noodle and let me at them!!!!
:lmao::rotfl:

I just want everyone to know that after hours (and HOURS!!!!) of therapy I'm doing a lot better. Let's just say that Teena, love bugs and pool noodles do NOT make a good combination!

You will have an absolute blast! The Yacht Club is gorgeous (and ship themed so after a few grey goose slushies you can pretend that you are on the high seas;)) I have stayed there twice and we loved every minute of it. Club level will be the icing on the cake :goodvibesHonestly you could not have made a better choice and the more you read this thread the more you will agree;)

I have seen very little about the promotions. I wonder if they will be announcing the themes weekly, or monthly or if it will just be a series of "surprises" for guests.

It looks like this past week was a New Years Eve theme, with characters dressed up in special blingy costumes and early evening NYE countdowns.

Thought I read that there may be a pirate themed week around Sept 19 (National Talk Like a Pirate Day).

But beyond that, I haven't read much.

I would love to see the return of Dream Fastpasses! Winning those (in the Journey of Imagination) was the highlight of our 2008 trip during Tropical Storm Faye.

I didn't see the answers to your questions, so I am reposting. I'm not really all that familiar with the Yacht Club, so I will defer to others.

On your third question, I'm pretty sure you do need to call in your room requests ("Wedding Gazebo view, Close to Elevator, please") even if you book online.

Hi everyone! I thought we'd stay at the Swan/Dolphin this June (we were at BC last June), but now I'm highly contemplating the YC.

We loved the BC, but I'm all for trying new things, so I'd probably opt for the YC this time.

Questions:

1. Are the rooms the same exact set up? I'm specifically interested in knowing if the bathroom door practically hits the toilet when you open it.

2. I would get a GV and want to know if you can overlook the gazebo AND also be close to an elevator (we were very far from the elevators at BC and that's the one thing I'd change).

3. I haven't booked online in a long time but think I might this time. Can you make requests online or do you really need to call for that still?

Thanks!!

Looking at these maps, it does appear that some of the Gazebo view rooms would be close to the elevator banks.

Disney Zone Room Number Maps- Caution, View Categories are outdated!

One of the things I don't know... whether the rooms that have the straight on view of the gazebo are water view or garden view. I suspect that they are water view rooms. Does anyone know???

I'm a platinum member of Disney Cruise Line so I know how wonderful Disney cruises are. However, 3 night cruises in my opinion are a waste of time. You unpack and the first night they will be handing you your paperwork to fill out for departure. You never get the "true" cruise experience. Although I don't recommend them, 5 nights is the absolute shortest cruise we will do on Disney. To compare a 3 night cruise to 9 nights at the YC and club level too, NO COMPARISON. You absolutely did the right thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Everyone.

We made it down yesterday ok. Offsite right now but we made it to the Studios last night for a little extra unplanned fun. Been a long time since we've parked in the parking lot and rode the tram. Still had a blast. Met up with some friends and was able to get in Osborne Lights and the last F!

Headed over to CR this morning and probably Epcot for some park time. Ta Ta for now

You coming over to say hi????

:woohoo:

Lots of new and returning friends!!!

Hello All :wave2:

I took advantage of the new discount this morning and booked a trip back to BC! Yeah! We'll be there 4/13 - 4/19, which is our kids school vacation! After months spent "working" my DH into the realization that we need another trip to BC (we fell in love with it during our trip in October of 2011), the new discount was an offer too good to refuse.

I can't wait to tell our DDs!

So glad to hear you are coming back!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list!

:goodvibes

We will be there 8/3-8/10. Please add us to your list. Can't wait!

:welcome:

Will do!!! Which resort?

:cool1:

Super excited to say we will be at BC from May 9-18! We were supposed to go in Feb. and stay at POR but we were forced to delay till May and decided to splurge. I cannot wait to experience this.

:welcome:

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list.

I've probably bored the others on this thread with my story before, but you're new here, so...

On the last night of our vacation in Jamaica in 2008, we were trying to get to sleep around 9 PM since we had an early flight in the morning. After we had all settled in, we heard VERY loud music coming from the courtyard below our balcony. It was a concert or video by singer Sean Kingston. I considered going down to the lobby to complain, but figured others were probably enjoying the unscheduled concert.

I didn't see the answers to your questions, so I am reposting.

Sorry Music City Mama, I missed this. I thought it was a Swolphin question. I didn't see you were looking for information on the YC.

Yes, the door hits the toilet, just like at the BC. The rooms are exactly the same. Just look at the pictures on page one and you will see this.

Yes, the GV room with gazebo view can be close to the elevator. If I wanted to make a room request for both of these I would first put gazebo view then put close to elevator. The view of the garden area and the gazebo would be a higher priority for me than the elevator, but that is just me.

And yes, you can get a GV room that does allow you to look at the lake or the pool but you won't get the water view on a "straight on" basis. usually you have to stand on the balcony and look right or left.

Hope that helps.

Happy planning
