Sounds delicious! I do Bourbon balls!!! Are you talking the ones made with bourbon, vanilla wafers crushed and pecans and Karo syrup, with enough powdered sugar to get all over the house?? YEP! I make them! If they sold those at the BC/YC Marketplace nobody would ever come home!

I used to make Bourbon balls and put them on the cookie tray I used to give to the teachers as a teacher Christmas gift. They LOVED them!! LOL They always used to say that it was the only time they could ever have liquor in school!

I really should sic Paula Deen on my Mom and brother. Thanks for the idea!

Those are the ones! I leave the pecans out for DH. I homeschool but I would not send it to schools. When I lived in SC I would have gotten in trouble, because I sub taught. And a dear friend of mine is a sub teacher in SC and she was playing around with a child that would not stay in her seat and said, "do you have ants in your pants, do I need to glue you to your seat" Well a parent complained that my friend threaten to glue her child to there seat and my friend got suspended till after Christmas. She is almost certified as a teacher and they were about to take her career from her because of that phrase. And well here in Kentucky I live in a total dry county! So sending Bourbon balls could get me arrested!:scared1::scared1:

Good Morning Y/B club fans!

So far the weather is amazing! The trip is amazing and we are having a great time! I will write about today tonight if not tooo out of it!! Details later...

~Nannette

Thanks for the updates Nannette. Sounds like you are having a wonderful trip. Wasn't it nice being close enough to your resort from HS to just run back and get your vouchers.

We have ADR's at Artist Point in January. Really looking forward to it now.

Okay, I need a recipe when you have a chance! These sound so good. I have never heard of these. A little like a truffle?

DH is on a diet now. He has a $1,000 bet with our middle son on who can lose the most by January.:confused3 I am sure neither will pay up. Well DH would but he will probably win and will refuse to take any from Mike. I am just trying to feed us better but not going all crazy with no butter or anything. They both just need to lose some to be healthier. Oh and Chuck is trying to get sexy for me for when he takes me away for our 25th anniversary in May to the Virgin Islands (St. John's). Of course all I talk about right now is Disney, Disney, Disney. haha!

We were eating out all of the time so anything I make has to be better. I found a great website the other day if anyone is interested. you could get lost for a week or more looking at all of the recipes. I think it is even done by weight watchers points. I just like the recipes and have tried several this week that were really good and easy.

We just looked at next years school schedule. It was just approved and sent out. Chuck was talking about how much time Nathan has off for Christmas next year. The entire week after New Year's. I told him, "Now we can go to Disney for Christmas next year!!".:rolleyes1

Happy Thanksgiving!! We are off to my parents for the Holiday. Internet is very slow there so I will probably not be able to get on. Hope that you all have a great Holiday!!

Here is the recipe for the official YC/BC FAQ thread cookie

This easy recipe is a Southern favorite, made with bourbon, vanilla wafer crumbs, and cocoa, along with pecans and confectioners' sugar.
Ingredients:

* 2 1/2 cups or 1 box of Nabisco or other brand Vanilla wafers which will be pulverized in a food processor to crumb level
* 1 cup finely chopped pecans
* 1 cup confectioners' sugar
* 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
* 1/4 cup bourbon, sometimes I use a 1/3 of a cup if I'm making these for confirmed Bourbon lovers
* 2 "heaping" tablespoons light corn syrup (If your mixture is a little too dry and is not rolling into balls well add small amounts of syrup until it becomes sticky enough to roll. That's why I put "heaping")
* confectioners' sugar, sifted

Preparation:
Thoroughly combine 1 cup crushed vanilla wafer crumbs, (I use my mini food processor, keep in mind the vanilla wafers have to be pulverized to crumb level) chopped pecans (again the smaller size pieces the better, the pre crushed ones sold in the baking isle at the supermarket are fine),

Add 1 cup confectioners' sugar, and the cocoa. MIX IT UP!

In a separate bowl, blend the bourbon and corn syrup together.

Stir this bourbon mixture into the dry mixture; blend well. Cover and chill for at least a few hours. (I don't chill my mix, I just git to rollin!)

Sift about 1/2 to 1 cup of confectioners' sugar in a bowl. Shape small bits of the dough into balls and roll them in the confectioners'. Store in refrigerator in tightly covered containers. Make these a few days in advance for best flavor I think this is because some of the alcohol evaporates and makes for a slightly mellower flavor.

The flavor profile for these is a crunchy chocolate, Bourbon cookie ball with powdered sugar on the outside. Use less Bourbon (shy of a 1/4 cup) if you're not sure you like bourbon.

If desired. These can also be frozen for longer storage.

Bon Appetite!

Sorry to be stupid about this, but the ingredients call for 2 1/2 cups of crushed vanilla wafers, but in the instructions I only ever see where 1 cup is used...I'm confused. :confused3

Nope, you're not stupid... I'm going by the recipe I've used from "The Joy of Cooking". I've seen those recipes on the web that call for 1 cup but even if you pulverize a whole box of vanilla wafers it still comes out to more than 1 cup.

Since this is what I make every year this is what I recommended. I just buy a box of 'Nilla wafers, pulverize them in the processor and it comes out great. I'm pretty sure that 1 box of 'Nilla wafers is in the 2.5 cup range after crushing. I have no idea what this recipe would look like only using 1 cup of crushed wafers...

Heather, you make these, what do you say?

~Marlton Mom

Come to think of it, maybe it's one of those "Canadian" cups, as in 1 Canadian cup = 1/2 a moose and 3 Loonies, after all, look what they've done with Bra sizes!

Thank you, I'll go with this. I was thinking later maybe it meant 2 1/2 cups before "crushing" which comes out to 1 cup post-crush? I'll just use the whole box and call it good. :thumbsup2

Ok, my recipe is from my late grandfather. It is on a light blue piece of thin paper that has been typed out by a typewriter not computer.

It says 2 1/2 cup of crushed wafers
1/2 cup finly pecans
2 heaping tablespoons of dark corn syrup

Mix to geather

Then add Bourbon until dough holds togeather!

Then make balls and mix into coco powder and powder sugar mixture that MM already stated.

Ok. I hand crush up a whole box of walmart wafer cookies, no nuts!, corn syrup and then add bourbon.

Now some cookies and bourbon might decrease before recipe is finished, due to birdies tasting.

It is one of those things that you play with add more or less. They are real strong and good the first day and calm down later but still hold a good punch!

Happy Thanksgiving to my American friends :goodvibes

MM sounds like a yummy recipe, I will try it, wth my Canadian measurements of course :rotfl: But Bra sizes :confused3
