Greetings all!
First I MUST say thank you to the DISer that put this thread together, it ROCKS! party: I am in the planning stages for my Disneymoon (October 2012). On my last trip in 09 I stayed at the Poly and loved it. Recently I've been looking at the Yacht Club and it seems so awesome. My question is does the YC have any beachside/poolside cabanas? I know the Poly added some within the past year or so and just wondered YC Stormalong Bay had them? Also any advice on the best rooms water view? Thanks:goodvibes

I recently found this map on some website- hope it helps

This is perfect:thumbsup2Thank you so much!!

Woo Hoo our flight leaves tomorrow morning at 6:07am!!!!!!! I will be enjoying F&W by this time tomorrow!!!!!!!

The great thing about these options is that you don't really need to decide until you get there- what's the weather, is everyone just having a great time at the resort, do you want to get out and start enjoying some Disney fun, are you just too tired from your travel day?

I know this sounds like blasphemy for die hard planners, and I am a full-fledged card carrying member of the club, but one of the things that made our last Disney trip so fantastic was having a bunch of options in the afternoon/evenings, so we could choose what we felt like doing.

That's true. The option's is what our whole trip is about this time. It is also why we are so excited about the BC resort. I guess I should just not stress about it. Chuck gave us the extra night so we can do what we want. He is not really paying much attention to my written plans and could probably care less if we follow them. He just goes with the flow as far as what Nate and I want. They extended AK hours while we are there so we could always go late in the afternoon the first day and take the next day to hang out too. Options are what I need to embrace. I am trying!!;) This is the first trip we have had where I don't have to stress out so I am stressing about the not stressing.:confused3

I also agree on not doing HDDR on your first night. HDDR tickets must be cancelled at least a day in advance, so I would not book it for the first night. We've had enough travel issues in the last 5 years (bumped off flights, mechanical delays, weather delays, turned back due to medical issue on flight, etc.) that I always assume I will not arrive anywhere near when we're supposed to arrive.

I have seen the DD, DH, DW etc. used all over the Internet It is either Dear or Darn depending on your tone. Never heard of it being Disney before.

At my house it is definitely DARN husband.

Lafittes Landing, I think going to the Hoop on the first night is a great plan!

I agree as long as you will arrive in plenty of time to avoid travel back ups. We were so late after a 7 hour flight delay that we missed a lunch and a dinner ADR on that first day. With the new dining plan penalties for missed ADR's I wonder how we would have fared with dealing with the $$$ penalties in light of circumstances way out of our control. I believe these restrictions start Oct 31 (please correct me if I am wrong) so it's now become a consideration.

The other option is to take a cab ride directly to Fort Wilderness for the meal. Bypassing Disney Transportation and taking a cab is highly underrated and underused form of transportation. You'll be spending less than $20 with tip to have a relaxing and time saving form of transportation, especially considering the torturous journey one must take to go from hotel to hotel in this instance. In this case you would have to allow at least an hour, likely more, to use Disney transportation to get from BC/YC to FW versus 20 minutes for a cab.

Good luck and keep asking us your questions as we are happy to help you!

Marlton Mom, we've never stayed at POFQ, but taking the basket out has worked for me at the Polynesian, GF, Y&BC, AKL as well as with full size coffee makers in the villas at BCV, AKV, THV, SSR and BLT. Also has worked at hotels in many other places. Oh, and I do take off the lid, too, until the water has boiled. I also watch it at the beginning to make sure the water is not sputtering all over. Teena, have fun on your cruise. We're leaving on one the very next day! Can not wait!!!:boat:

I will definitely consider that next time so thank you for the idea. :thumbsup2

Here is a sticky from the Dis Boards re: the ADR changes. Although this information is evolving, it's a great starting point for understanding the upcoming changes that will affect all guests at WDW that wish to use Advanced Dining Reservations (ADR's) to secure spots and times at Disney Restaurants.

First I MUST say thank you to the DISer that put this threat together, it ROCKS! party:

I'll second that thanks.

Dee - I know many of us have said thanks before, but it doesn't hurt to say it again. Thank you for all your work. I'm sure more people than you will ever know, benefit from your great input. :worship:

And of course thanks to all the other regular contributors - Teena, Mickey T, MM etc. I hate to put names in this category as I know there are so many others that I am not mentioning, but thank you all.

I love Josh's website for info on this. I print it all out for the time we are going to be there and thake it with us. He gives you parks to avoid or your best bets and explains why. He has reviews for things in there as well. HTH's

Now you have me rethinking going to DTD for our first day.:confused3 We would arrive at BC around 1pm. We were thinking of an hour or so at DQ and then on to Lego store for DS's 8th bday. Then AK the next day which is our least favorite park. Maybe we should stay around our resort instead and go to the BW resort. Then save DTD for later on Sunday or skip AK altogether. DQ is a bonus on our tickets so we are not paying for it. That is why we thought we might check it out.

First off - thanks for that crowd calendar link. I hadn't seen that one before.

As for DTD, I think that is a fine plan. As Dee said it is a good plan because you can be spontaneous with it and stay as little or as long as you like.

For me, the reason I wouldn't do HDDR on the first night is because it is a major reservation with no way of moving the timing if you are running late, or just running slow.

The beauty of the DTD/DQ plan is that you can get there as fast or as slow as you are moving, so I'd keep DTD as a good first night plan.

i'm here now and i cant post pictures (forgot the usb cable!) but there are definitely tea packets along with the cusinart thing in the rooms on club level - Earl Grey and Green tea, specifically.
Haven't tried them out yet to test quality, but I'll let you know!

also, I'm using the fabulously free disney wireless that wasn't available on my last trip 3 weeks ago - love it!

Now Marlton Mom is going to tell you a little story, and this one is just in time for Halloween!

Once upon a time there was a desperate woman. Her initials were M and another M (the names have been changed to protect the innocent!) Anyway this woman was D E S P E R A T E !!! and going through Iced Tea withdrawl during a long ago trip to WDW. She had the shakes, she had the quakes and she thought she would come up with a way to save herself from a life without her beloved Iced Tea.

Looking around the room she spied a coffee maker and she thought in her infinite wisdom that she could just throw some tea bags in the brewer basket, fill that sucker up with water and WHA LA! Iced tea!!! (Ice cubes not included)

She paced the room anxiously as the little coffee maker burbled and brewed.

Drip.
Drip.
Drip.
And Finally the time had come! The pot was full of liquid gold.............................. OR SO SHE THOUGHT!

She carefully put in her equal and and tanker truck of lemon juice, applied the ice and after stirring it lovingly, she took..... just a sip!

A shriek like no other let loose from the depths of her soul! Writhing in agony on the floor, clutching her 1 remaining taste bud she screamed "What have I done, what have I done"!!! over and over again.

It seems she had invented that vile concoction know as coffee flavored iced tea. (not available in Canada) A beverage so vile the devil himself refuses to serve it in hell.

Undaunted, she took the coffee pot to the bathroom sink and gave it a scrubbing unlike it had ever seen before, Scrub, scrub, scrub and scrub some more with resort shampoo..... that's how desperate this woman was for the nectar of the Gods. But sadly it was not to be. The little coffee pot, as hard as it tried, could only brew coffee flavored iced tea.

Defeated, our heroine trudged to the refillable mug station, dragging with her the tiny little, Disney approved, god forbid you bring the refillable mug from your last trip, official, 2 ounce refillable mug and chained herself to the "Gold Peak" iced tea dispenser and threatened a 'sit in' until the CM's refilled it's thermal carafe with her addiction of choice.

Every once in awhile, when it's very quiet at night, MM can hear her kidneys discussing that trip to Florida, in the heat, with it's dehydrating weather. She can hear them speak of the time there was hardly any iced tea for them to filter. They shudder and kick her in the spine for her thoughtless lapse.

No Virginia, There is no Iced Tea in the rooms.
....and Santa is dead. Your kidneys will hate you as you shrivel up and dry in the Florida heat.

There is no hope for the Tea drinkers of the 'World'....

Signed,
Dried out in Marlton

Poor MM! :sad2:

I was getting caught up on this thread and was wondering too, what I was going to do with getting my tea fix?

Well, ask and you shall receive. :goodvibes

SENSEO TEA LINK! YEA!!!:thumbsup2

Where can you get a decent cup or morning coffee that is close by the Beach Club?? I see from the pictures that coffee at the Marketplace is via machine. Thanks much

Forgot to respond to this. I understand most internet acronyms. I would like a clarification on what the D means in front of the DW, DS,DD, etc...

I always thought the D stood for Dumb, because the person being written about is usually doing something annoying.

YAY! We leave tomorrow! So excited for our trip. Feel much better once we are in mco. Hate to fly but I got to do what I got to do ;) We will be in universal first then over to the beach club on thursday!

thanks to everyone on this thread for helping me plan another trip to the beach club. :goodvibes

Not Sunday! Sooner! I'm working Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday but then I'm off until 11/20.

So we will be going to Hoop-De-Do on our first night. My plan was (assuming a 9:30 show) to take a bus from the YC to the Magic Kingdom at 8:00 and then take a boat to the Ft. Wilderness Cabins to see the show hopefully well in advance of the actual opening that night. Is this a good plan? I know the HDD (getting into those acronyms!) is going to be testing earlier shows into February so I will adjust my plans if this continues.

Welcome!

I was about to say that's quite an adventurous plan for the first night, but as I recall our last DL trip (August 2010), we flew for over 4 hours, rented a car, drove to DL, checked in at GCH, went straight to DCA for lunch and an entire afternoon of rides, had dinner at Storyteller's and did the late showing of WOC. By the time we returned to our room at GCH, it was 2am EST! (And we were first in line for DL MM the next day!) So we do not shy away from an adventurous plan!

You're going the opposite direction, so your time clock will fare much better! But I agree with those who expressed concern about the non-refundable nature of HDD (although the rules are changing for ADRs everywhere), and the transportation there via bus can be time-consuming. If you stick with HDD, you may want to consider a cab, depending on your actual arrival time.

We always find that a first-night dinner in Epcot (Garden Grill for us) is a nice way to ease into the trip. It's so relaxing to just walk over to dinner on the first night - no worries about transportation timing or waiting for the bus, etc - and Illuminations after dinner is a very festive way to start a trip! And after Illuminations, we just stroll back to BC - couldn't be easier!

Good luck with your decision and your planning!
