All this coffee talk reminded me to ask about the CL coffee - is there a cappucino machine??

ALMOST.... Seriously I am in need of the Disney get away!!! This has been the craziest 3 months of my life!! First dd (hmm there's that "D" in this case DISNEY DAUGHTER and my shadow ) moved to Texas... there was a hurricane, tornado and earthquake the week we packed her... Her and I drove to Texas... I got her all settled and flew home ALONE... I miss her more than anything....and then DH (there's that damn "D" again.. in this case DAMN HUSBAND) decide we should move into the coop daughter lived in because well why not we own it (no brainer)!! Now it's October and after living in this apartment for 27 years (more than 1/2 my life) we are in full packing/moving /buying new furniture/painting and having a new floor installed mode... and then last week our ferret of 7 years died (insert lots of tears and sad face here)... I am a believer in change.. I think change is good and we all need it... but really I can't handle much more change!! So the move date is officially November 2nd goodbye Bronx NY... Hello Brooklyn NY! I'll be in the new place all of 15 days before I leave for Disney... Will I be ready?!?!... I am more than ready!!!! Lol the suitcase is already down (of course that's because I'm moving)!!!

Ok feel better now that I've vented!

Hope your trip is here soon!

I'll second that thanks.

Dee - I know many of us have said thanks before, but it doesn't hurt to say it again. Thank you for all your work. I'm sure more people than you will ever know, benefit from your great input. :worship:

Thank you for that!

But all of the great info and pictures here are the cumulative work of a LOT of people, some who put this thread together long before I came around! So a big :thumbsup2 to everyone who helps and posts the info (and questions) (and amusing comments) that make this one of the best and friendliest threads on the DIS!

YAY! We leave tomorrow! So excited for our trip. Feel much better once we are in mco. Hate to fly but I got to do what I got to do ;) We will be in universal first then over to the beach club on thursday!

thanks to everyone on this thread for helping me plan another trip to the beach club. :goodvibes

cant wait to see TEENA next sunday!!!!!!

Have an excellent trip!!!

Not Sunday! Sooner! I'm working Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday but then I'm off until 11/20.

Wow!!! Try to take it easy. And enjoy your time off!!! I know it will be great!

All this coffee talk reminded me to ask about the CL coffee - is there a cappucino machine??

Here's a picture of the coffee machine in the lounge. There is a cappucino button, but I like my coffee hot and black so I never tried this option.

Of course it is ok to join in!

It's understandable if you don't make it through the whole thread before you ask a question, but Page 1 is a good starting point!

I'll add you to the Guest List.

Thanks Dee! Not exactly the cappuccino machine I was hoping for, but it'll have to do! LOL

Easywdw has Fantasmic every night during our stay at 9. Touring Plans has it at 9 and 10:30 varying nights but only three or four nights during our stay. Which do you guys think is right???? Remember, I'm in ADR hell still. LOL. I love that we can just catch a boat to DHS from BC so we can book a Fantasmic package for any night, really!

Hey Feckless!....Went and checked both Easy and TP. Are you still scheduled for May 1- May 11? Couldn't find May operating hours on Easywdw. But went to my crowd calendar on TP and it had 9pm for each day of your visit. I confirmed this with the official Disney calendar.

Now a neat tool that is one of my main planning resources. This is Disney's official hours calendar that is usually published first. They will change this calendar before they actually make the changes on their website.
Now to open this you have to have Adobe Reader installed on your computer.
When you open it will default to the month in the address bar. If you look right before the .pdf in the address there is a three alphabet code for the month. (jan, feb, mar etc....) Just change the letters to the month you want and it will bring up Disney's most current calendar. Here it is with the May address. Try it and see if you can get it to work.

Good luck and happy planning!

I was wondering how you were making out! Sorry to hear about the ferret but think of all the dust bunnies you'll be making friends with.

Better days are coming and just think about how relaxing it will feel to know that you've gone through all the junk and thinned the herd so you can be organized to the max. I'll bet your finding old treasures again and sparking ancient memories too.

Good luck and keep us posted!

Just back from 8 days at the Beach resort. We stayed at the YC last year and honestly, not much difference (except the colors). We were on the second floor with a garden view. We were close to an exit door that went out to the volleyball sand court so we walked across the grass most of the time. No walkway to use.

This is the view from our room. DH said if the tree hadn't been in the way it would have been a water view and they would have charged us more :rotfl2:. My DD loved watching the squirrels play in the tree.

DD was thrilled to find mickey in the room:

Our overall stay was good. Minor complaints - our room had dirty towels in the bathroom, the trash cans had not been emptied when we arrived; the shower and sink drains were terrible. The little buttons on the fawcets fell off (the hot/cold buttons) which wasn't major but for a deluxe price I'd like to see them intact. Mousekeeping was good; they kept leaving tons of shampoo but nothing else. And they kept moving the coffee pot. There were tons of convention people and it just amazed me how they would just walk in front of the busses.

We had a wonderful dinner at cape may and they got us in an hour before our ADR. Everyone was very nice (got to meet the infamous Teena our arrival day). Loved Storm along bay and it was never very crowded.

As always it went way to fast and hopefully we can start planning another trip (considering a disney cruise next year).

Oooh, another great planning tool. :yay::yay:

This is why I love this thread. Just when I figure I've done all the planning I think I can do, you guys give me another tool to use. I love it.

It is so hard to fill the days when you book a year in advance, so having new angles to examine our plans is so helpful.

Thanks!

Welcome Laffites Landing!

As far as touring plans I really feel each family is different. Our family would never try to do HDD on our first day. We like to ease into the stay. Rest on the first night and hit the parks full force the next day. Now you may still be on west coast internal clock so it may not bother you. Not sure if you're familiar with the Unofficial Guide and touringplans website but I do buy both of these to help with the planning.

Have fun planning and let us share in the process. You are in the perfect place.

Thanks for the advice Mickey! I have to admit that seeing this and others' comments about my plans the first night has made me consider changing this particular part of my plan. Right now, I'm still thinking that I will continue with this plan but we'll see what the future brings. I still have time to modify it and I'm partly running it by this board to see what the Disney WORLD vets have to say. I really feel comfortable with those here on the BC/YC board because I've read every post of this thread and feel like I know you all.

Anyway, the reason I wanted to do Hoop-De-Do the first night is because I didn't want to use any of my Ten day park tickets that day and I still wanted the family to experience a truly unique Disney experience. Between the boat ride to get there and the show itself, I figured this was the way to go.

I also thought that by scheduling it for the final show it would give us plenty of time with travel considerations. We are on the west coast so a 9:30 dinner should feel like 6:30 to us the first night. Having said that, I have to admit that you and others have given me lots to think about!

The other option is to take a cab ride directly to Fort Wilderness for the meal. Bypassing Disney Transportation and taking a cab is highly underrated and underused form of transportation. You'll be spending less than $20 with tip to have a relaxing and time saving form of transportation, especially considering the torturous journey one must take to go from hotel to hotel in this instance. In this case you would have to allow at least an hour, likely more, to use Disney transportation to get from BC/YC to FW versus 20 minutes for a cab.

Ah to have the famous (infamous?) Marlton Mom comment on my plans!

Like I say, I haven't been to Disneyworld since Monika Lewinsky was topical so forgive me but I am under the impression that if I took a cab to Ft. Wilderness, it would drop me off in the front of the resort while the Hoop-De-Do is performed in the rear of the resort, near the dock. Wouldn't I then have to jump on a second bus to get over there? Based on the maps I've seen of that resort, wouldn't it just make more sense to take a boat from the Magic Kingdom? Maybe I'm wrong.

I've already considered taking roughly five or six cab rides over the course of our vacation so I'm not against taking cabs, just questioning as to whether it's the best way to get to HDD.

Thanks again!

Allen

First of all, I want to just say thank you to everyone for making suggestions and recommendations about my family's first day in the park. I want to do this particular trip up big. This is really our first real family vacation and I want it to be special. With that in mind, we will be no the Deluxe Dining plan. I just wanted to add that information to the mix. Now, on the first full day of our trip, here is what I plan. Let me know what you all think:

8AM-Cinderella's Royal Table (if we can swing the ADR)
9AM-2PM- We plan to use fastpasses and hard core touring to hit Mickey's Philharmagic / Winnie the Pooh/ Small World/ Dumbo/ Haunted Mansion/ Hall of Presidents/ Big Thunder/ Splash/ Pirates/ Flying Carpets of Aladdin/ Country Bears (not necessarily in that order) we will skip Jungle Cruise, Peter Pan, Tiki Room and come back later and do Tomorrow Land. I know it's a lot of rides, but I'm pretty good with fastpasses and we'll hopefully have the pre park opening visit to CRT so we will get breakfast out of the way.

2PM-5PM-Back to the resort for shower/swim/rest
5PM-7PM- Back to MK for Space Mountain (FP), People Mover, Monsters Laugh Floor, Stich, Carousel of Progress (maybe Buzz)

This is the one park where we plan to do rides that are similar if not flat out clones of what we have out here. We are all looking forward to riding things that either no longer exist out here or never did on this day. That's 17 rides. After that we plan to head out and take the monorail over to contemporary for a late dinner at the California Grill.

Here are my questions: How late should we get an ADR at the California Grill on that day (it's a Tuesday) to ensure we will be in our seat when Wishes is going? Is my "leave the park at 2pm and return at 5pm" going to give us enough time to do what we need to do? That is, will the Disney transportation work with this plan given that we are staying at an Epcot resort? We will have park hoppers, should we plan on taking a bus or do the whole monorail and walk thru Epcot thing? What should be our plan for leaving the Contemporary to head back to the Yacht Club after Wishes? (Monorail to MK and then bus back to the resort... though that seems like it might take forever)

Thanks to everyone!

Allen
