Thanks for sharing the pictures! I'm glad you did, because now I know I can load up a bit of music on my iPhone for when we don't feel like listening to Disney songs 24/7!:goodvibes

At least, I assume those iHomes are in the rooms and you didn't bring your own?:confused3
Yes, those are in the rooms. We never did use it, tho.

Thanks DawnMaree for the pics. we are staying YC CL for the 1st time next month. can't wait.
Awesome. This was our first time, and we LOVED it.

By the way, I am on facebook (DawnMaree Welch). I am starting to upload more pictures there. If anyone wants to friend me there, please do so. Just let me know you're from the DIS YC&BC FAQ. :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing the pics DawnMaree!! I only have to wait 38 more days!! :woohoo:

Hi everyone, I'm new to DISBoards, and new to the forums. I just have to say that this Beach Club forum is so helpful, thank you to everyone for the excellent insight and info about the BC..it will be our first trip to BC in Nov 2011 and we are taking our two DDs 7 and 11. We can't wait! We hope the Christmas Decorations will be up at BC by Nov 16 when we arrive! We'll keep our fingers crossed. Does anyone know if they do put up the decorations that early in the BC? :)

Hi and welcome! If you would like to be added to the November 2011 Who's Where When list on page one and two please let me know your exact dates and Dee will add you! I will be there in November as well and I can't wait!!!

Happy planning and let me know the dates if you want to be added!!

We were there last year during Thanksgiving week and they were starting the YC Monday or Tuesday. By Thanksgiving Day, the train, tree and all decorations were up. When we had dinner at CM Thanksgiving night, all of the Beach Club decorations were up. They start the decorations in the parks but we were told they get to each resort as soon as they can. They start late evening and work til done...the train took a couple of days! I guess you could say it is possible but don't count on it.

Have fun!

We just changed from POFQ to YC, our first ever on site stay. I can't seem to stop reading about our trip I am so excited. When I told my husband we got a garden view and not a water one, he said it was ok as long as he could look at me. So romantic after 27 years.

Great pictures DawnMaree!

I'm so excited today. Only 180 days to go! :)

We are staying CL and by 6:30 this morning we received an email that all our ADRs are booked. So happy.

We have the following reservations:
Yachtsman Steakhouse
Liberty Tree Tavern
Sci-Fi Dine-in Theatre
Coral Reef
Biergarten
Teppan Edo
Raglan Road

We will also be stopping by Big River Grill and La Cava del Tequila for some meals. And of course our counter service meals will also be highly focused on Epcot.

This is our first time staying at an Epcot area resort, so we are very excited to have our dining selections come from all around the World.

Another great day at BC....it was the perfect afternoon for SAB! DS3 finally went down the flying jib slide.....about 10 times! He and DD8 had a blast on the slide and playing in the sand. He is fast asleep on the daybed right now!

We did MK this am and did Dumbo, IASW, SM, BTMRR, splash M, and Buzz. Lines were mostly short

Tonight we have dinner at Cape May......DD8 and DH are going to try to set a new record for crab legs......we'll be the buttery people in the hotel tonight!

It was great meeting Teena yesterday and seeing her again today! Today I got to introduce her to DH and the kids! I know we're all biased, but the YC/BC has a fabulous group of CMs. Everyone has been so friendly and helpful and welcoming.

Tomorrow we're off to the Poly for breakfast and then MK again, and some SAB time in the afternoon!

Oh I almost forgot.....we were able to see Wishes and the higher illuminations fireworks last night. Room is a standard view with a big tree outside the window and juliet balcony, but its a corner room so we have 2 windows plus the little balcony. Kids were very excited with the fireworks view! I thought I might have snagged a Matthew McConaughey view when I saw the tree, but so far no luck. ;)

Cindy---I'm posting from my phone, so excuse any boo-boos

5 Days to go! Teena, hopefully we will be able to come over to the BC to say hello this weekend!

Quick, and most likely silly question for everyone... when we arrive at YC, will the CMs there be able to give us the "daily" schedule for all the parks, or will we have to get them at each park enterance? I'd like to be able to do a check to see if we really want to go to park A or B on any given day.

Thanks!:thumbsup2

We don't give them out at the resorts. You get them at each individual park when you enter. However, if you go to the concierge desk, they can print it out for you ... not as good as the one you get at the park but it will give you an idea of what's going on.

Love saying that, will Sunday ever get here? While not staying on CL (wish for pixie dust) I plan on taking an Athens,GA phone book and leaving it. You never know when someone may need numbers from here so I'm doing my civic duty. :cool1: In answer to the park schedule question, last time I was at the YC/BC there were schedules in the room when we checked in, I don't know if they still do that. Looks like there will be a few disers (is that a word?) there so hope to meet some of ya'll.

The weekly schedules that show parade times, park hours, firework times for the week run Sunday to Saturday and are available in your welcome packet and in the lobby of the resort. However, this guide does not give you hours for the shows (like Festival of the Lion King) at each park. Those you get at the park entrance.

Looking at your ADRs: lunch or dinner at Liberty Tree? We like going to Sci-Fi just for the atmosphere. We really loved Raglan Road the first time we went and were going to go this past trip, but we had to cancel as plans for DTD just didn't work out that day. :guilty:

Heard a VIP is checking into the BC tomorrow! Have a great mini-vacation Teena! Happy (Belated) Anniversary to you and Bob!

Going to BC for the first time in a couple days with my family (kids are 3 and 7). Would it be reasonable to go to MK through Epcot - taking the monorail? Or would that take a lot more time than the bus? Thanks!

Our vacation has come and gone…put it in the books…another memorable and fantastic Orlando vacation! Sorry to all my DISer's...life got in the way and I am finally getting around to an overall review...

We initially weren’t planning on a WDW trip this summer (although we wanted to!), but when our other plans weren’t working out and I brought up Harry Potter at Universal and WDW, the kids got excited…and so the plans were quickly made. We spent the first two nights at Hard Rock Hotel and the next 6 at YC. It was a big year for us (my DD graduated high school, our 25th wedding anniversary, and both hubby and I had milestone’ birthdays) so this trip was wonderful timing!

Transportation – it worked out great. We booked a town car service to the HRH, which included a stop at Publix. This was a nice extra - so we could buy a Styrofoam cooler (there is no refrigerator to use at the HRH, just a mini bar filled with overpriced items!), water, and a few other items. We transferred over to YC via taxi (they are always outside HRH so it worked out great) in the late afternoon of our third day. Once at the YC we later booked ME for our return trip to the airport.

HRH – very nice hotel (beds were so comfortable!). We arrived very early (around 9:30 a.m. or so) and our garden view room was ready. We got a AAA rate, but at this time of year, it’s still expensive! The bell man who brought our bags to our room was talkative and funny. The big perk to Universal onsite hotels is the FOTL (front of the line) access to rides (all rides in both parks with the exception of Rip Ride Rocket and Forbidden Journey; also no FOTL for Olivanders show – the latter was really cute!). Staying onsite is totally worth it, especially during peak vacation times like ours! HRH is closest to Universal Studios…a short walk or rickshaw ride. I would only recommend the boat when going to citi walk or IOA due to the drop off point being at city walk(though that’s not a much longer walk…however after all the walking we did all day, we did use the water taxi a couple times when coming back from IOA/citywalk!). The pool area is nice and all, but the depth only went to about 3 feet! So most people are sitting in it. My daughter commented that she was looking forward to SAB. Zero entry pool on the one side was nice, but it would have been nice to have it a little deeper. The landscaping are HRH area is very pretty and the walk pleasant. Just a little extra info…RPR is closest to IOA. I wanted to visit there but we never got around to it. I wonder what their pool is like. We initially had reservation for a standard room but no AAA rate at RPR, but for a few dollars more we got AAA rate HRH garden view. I would probably try RPR next time to check another hotel out. The Portofino is beyond HRH. Since it’s the most expensive of the three and further than the HRH, I probably wouldn’t stay there. However, it looks beautiful from the pictures I’ve seen on websites and via Dee’s trip report (thanks Dee for all your help/advice on US/IOA!!).

US/IOA – had a great time, much more so than our previous visit. Our only previous visit was 6 years ago during our WDW Wilderness lodge Free-dining vacation where we took 2 day trips there. A big addition was the Harry Potter themed land. We all loved it, especially my kids. We were also able to enjoy it more this time since we stayed onsite and didn’t really have to wait in lines. It was nice to walk back and forth and use the pool a bit. I think 2 nights worked out great…enough time to get to do just about everything along with a little relaxation in between. We ate at Margaritaville in City Walk (made a reservation via website, though we would have been able to walk in at the time we went – 6:30 Wednesday night) on our first night. The volcano nachos are a must…and a yummy on the Land Shark Lager. Don’t worry, I got my margaritas at Margaritaville’s outside bar on one afternoon during their happy hour! Margaritas were ½ price at the Lone Palm airport…truly a bargain at $3.63!!). We also enjoyed Finnegan’s at Universal Studios. I think we picked up some quick breakfast items at Three Broomsticks as well after our early a.m. visit to Olivander’s. We loved the frozen Butterbeer and got this a few times! So tasty and nice and cold on very HOT days!

YC – Our first stay in this area was the BC in August 2010. It was booked so we stayed at YC. Honestly I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at BC or YC. They are both beautiful!! We arrived late Friday afternoon. We got a surprise upgrade to CL, which we loved and really enjoyed. Within a half hour of checking in or so, we headed to the CL for appy’s…yummy…nice way to start our YC stay. The staff was great here as well. The club lounge is similar in size to the BC, but has two different areas – one for food offerings and refrigerated drinks, and the other area for juices, coffee, wine, water. I liked the separate area to get my coffee. This cut down on wait time in the morning when it was busy.

Yeah the YC lobby is darker, but it is quieter than the lobby at BC. I probably like the lighter tones of the BC more (and YC doesn’t have Teena & Pete, however Teena was recovering at home during our WDW stay…we really missed not seeing her when we walked through the BC lobby a few times), but YC is really nice. I like the quiet pool area at the BC more (though I only went to the YC quiet pool area to do laundry one day). They both have SAB and all the other amenities that make it great in the Epcot area. We did enjoy the quick boat access. We did not walk to DHS this year. We learned our lesson last year when we ‘melted’. It’s a nice walk, when it’s cooler outside. I think the temps were generally around 95 with high humidity. I remember hearing on the TV in the lounge how it felt like 104-107 on a few days! However, I can tolerate the heat when on vacation, especially WDW. Also had to vacate SAB a couple of times due to lightening…but overall we really had good weather…rain never lasted too long. And it cooled off afterwards.

Okay so drum roll – do we have a favorite between YC and BC. My hubby and I give a slight edge to BC (holds a ‘soft’ spot given our first stay was there in August 2010 and we met Teena and Pete!). My kids seem to give a slight edge to YC. Though my son was quick to say he liked having the Marketplace in the BC…haha (always thinking of food). We all loved CL...so nice and quick to have breakfast there, loved the chips and dip in the afternoons, appys and drinks, etc. My son was on Swedish fish overload...haha! There were many nice CMs there!

I just love staying in this area...and it's great to be so close to Epcot (and eat at the many great restaurants there) and DHS.

WDW parks – enjoyed them all, it was busy. We used fast pass, but we are not as efficient as natebenma…haha. Okay, we came to the conclusion that during our stay, EMH night hours did not work out. Lines were very long in Epcot…and forget about getting on RNR and Toy Story at DHS! I would do early EMH but it’s tough getting the kids up…and as our trip goes on, we all get more tired. My daughter and I went to Fantasmic (my son and hubby went back to YC to relax and avoid the boat line after the late show). The line for the early show was all the way down the street…yikes! The last time I went to that show was in 2000 in November. Good show, but nowhere near Illuminations and Wishes for me.

We ate at LeCellier (which my family loves) again (third time in as many trips). Can you believe I snagged a Saturday lunch reservation the night before we left for vacation? My filet was wonderful. We also ate at the Rose and Crown and Via Napoli (couldn’t get a reservation but walked up and waited about 35 minutes). However, next time we need inside seating at Rose and Crown. The bees were hanging around and my daughter took a bee-line inside (she’s allergic to bees). Both were very good. We just loved the pizza at Via Napoli. Also enjoyed 50’s Prime time Café (always a must for us). This year I finally got the Grey Goose Slushie while roaming through World Showcase before Illumination…yummy. My hubby got the grand marnier version. I didn’t get the Sunken Treasure at Hurricane Hanna’s though…will get it on my next trip…haha.

I have to say that a trip to WDW has to include Illuminations and Wishes. Those shows just ‘bring it all together’ for me. I just love Illuminations…I think we saw it 2 or 3 times. It’s those times when I get a little teary-eyed…call me corny…that’s okay! My daughter got picked to be in the street show in the Great Britain. I took lots of pictures. She loved it. We loved the new Star Tours ride. The one night we went on it 2 times in a row. My daughter was picked as the rebel spy both times…cute! Of course, because of this she had to buy a pin and shirt…that girl loves to shop…

All in all, we had a blast! My kids loved our vacation. They both thanked us several times, while on vacation and when returned to the ‘real’ world. They love WDW…and they are 18 and 20. So don’t worry if you are afraid of your youngsters not wanting to vacation there or with parents. We made wonderful memories…and many more to come I’m sure…

…some pics will follow…

While I haven't stayed at BC yet (75ish days!), I can tell you from personal experience that doing it this way takes forever. It is doable but it took at least an hour travel time IIRC.

Wow...nice post from your phone!! Yeah I never saw that great Matthew McConaughey view that Marlton Mom showed us...haha! We love the CMs there too! Thanks for the 'live' updates Cindy!

 So excited I just had to share
We just switched to the Yacht Club for our wedding & honeymoon in January!
This will be the first time trying club level & the first time at the Yacht Club:lovestruc

Hi Everyone!

Thought I'd give you a LIVE report. Well we got to BCV at 08:30 and our room was NOT READY!!!

FINALLY, at 12:05 our room was ready. The first thing I did was check the bedside table for a telephone book and da da duh... There was a phone book but it was BLUE!!! My favorite color is purple and I MUST have a purple phone book. I complained to the front desk but they didn't seem very interested in finding a purple phone book...

I met that Teena woman and she was talking to some other guests (who did not look very important to me!) and I had to WAIT for her to talk to me!!! :scared1:

All kidding aside we are having a wonderful time. The staff has been fantastic. It was like the Great Muppet Caper trying to find my Purple Owner's locker (we checked into Pop at 10:00 on Sunday night and they said they would pick it up (after we left the room). DH & DD had to be at Epcot at 8:00a for YES program... so of course, the locker ended up in lost & found. The Bell staff worked really hard to find our stuff, the purple van people also got involved and all was made whole and right with the world again. BTW, we requested 5th floor "Epcot" (aka Garden) view and got both requests. I know this is unusual so we are really happy we got that. Although we ended up watching I! from the ground on our way home, LOL.

We really did get our room early and were very happy for that. We know how much :wizard: that would take. My 10 year old LOVES the pool and so do her parents. We have only one child so anything that keeps her occupied is a win for us!

BTW, love bugs are organizing, but not swarming yet.

Our room is great, staff are great, Teena is wonderful!!! (she paid me a LOT of moola and free upgrades for saying that!
