More Disney grandbabies ... we should get them all together at WDW for a playdate!

Has anyone ever mailed themselves a box to the Beach Club?? I was planning to send a box via United State Postal Service, but wasn't sure how it worked.

:lmao:When I first read this I thought they asked if anyone every mailed themself TO the BC.

I was thinking...well gotta be less than airfare and you'd get to hang with the noodle family in the closet.

It's been a long summer.

Why Yes, YES I Have mailed a box or two or three to the hotel. At this point I'm seriously thinking of mailing myself!

Be sure to read the instructions on the first page and you won't have any problems. Another tip is to mail them in plenty of time, since they may not get to the hotel as quickly as a letter. Check with the post office about delivery times and prices.

Hey Teena, does the mail get shipped directly to the hotel from the post office or does it go to a Disney Post office and then they need more time from there to get it to the hotels?

Just got home. Surgery was a success. Back for x-rays on Friday to make sure nothing "bad" is left in the kidneys. Doctor said no work until 8/21 and I'll feel like a mack truck ran into me for a few days. Right now I feel no pain. If all goes according to plan (keeping fingers crossed) I'll make it to Jeanne's on 8/23!

Thanks so much for all the good wishes and prayers! You guys are the best!

I am glad to hear that surgery went well. Just rest so you can see that beautiful grandaughter!! We don't go to BC until July 2012, looking forward to meeting you.

Thank you Marlton Mom for all the great info! I always try book the minimum that I will be happy with, and leave the rest to the room assignment gods. We've gotten some great pixie dustings, and I'm reluctant to mess with my mojo by making a request. This time I called back and made the request, though. Even though I paid for a garden view, I'd be happy with a view of pile of weeds as long as I had a full balcony on which to retreat from the kids.

So... with 50% of the rooms having balconies, a relatively short stay, and us arriving and departing before Christmas swings into full on craziness (Dec. 15-18)... my chances are decent... ya think? (Because I don't waaaant to go to bed at 8:PM!)

Hi guys! I'm torn btwn what I have booked (AKL bunkbeds, pool view) and switching to BC gardenview. I will have a full balcony as my only request. If we don't get a daybed room I would ask for a rollaway.
I have 2 concerns:
1. the busses---how are they at bc? they are great at AKL.
2. the food options-- we don't have hoppers so no epcot cs for us. will there be enough choices for a few cs meals at the resort on occasion?

Thank you Marlton Mom for all the great info!

Your welcome! I've gotten so much help from these boards that it's a pleasure to try and pass along info and ideas.

I saw your reply and it got me to thinking that maybe you could even drop off your little one in the Sand Castle club so that you could have a Mommy and Me date with your big (little) guy. I don't know the ages of your kids but I do know that it can be hard when the older one wants to do something that the little one can't.

Just a thought!

My husband and I often split up so the one can team up with our 12 year old DS while the other gets some me time. For our last trip, the boys did Disney Quest while Mom hit the shops ALL BY HERSELF! :cloud9: My husband likes to hover and disapprove when I shop so I've learned to say tough darts and DITCH him!

DS and I did Blizzard Beach while "D"H did the behind the scenes tour. I don't know why more people don't split up from time to time on a Disney trip. It makes for happier people all around when you do.

Hello! We've stayed at BC several times and AKL just once (most recent BC stay in February and AKL in May.) We enjoyed AKL for a non-parks stay, but BC is our first choice when we're visiting the parks for many reasons, including location and transportation options.

Regarding your concerns:
1) Buses. We think the buses at BC are just as good as the buses anywhere on Disney property. We rely on Disney transportation almost exclusively (with a cab here or there.) I cannot even begin to explain how much we prefer the walk to Epcot and DHS over the bus. It's like an entirely different trip when you can just stroll out the international gateway or the DHS entrance back to your room. (Or you can boat, if you prefer.) No folding strollers or waiting in line. So at BC, you only bus to two parks (AK and MK) and we don't have complaints about the bus to either. (We also use the monorail and cut through Epcot if the timing works, but you won't have park hoppers, so that wouldn't work for you on this trip.)

2) Counter Service. I appreciate that Mara at AKL had zebra domes available, but I actually prefer the atmosphere at BC Marketplace (it's less like a food court.) I think BC and Epcot area resorts have great CS options (although not all on the dining plan.) Our favorites include BC Marketplace, Hurricane Hanna's, Boardwalk Bakery and Picabu - they are all within walking distance and all great options.

We really like the range of options in the Epcot resort area - for both dining and shopping. The peace and quiet of AKL is nice (and the pools are wonderful) but our family is very active and the energy of the Epcot resort area is a good fit for us.

Here are some recent menus from BC Marketplace and Picabu. And 'll remember to get a photo of the Hurricane Hanna's and Boardwalk Bakery menus later this month!

Haha...I figured mailing myself would be easier than the flight with a

My Aunt told us she might be purchasing something from Amazon and having it shipped to the Boardwalk or Beach Club because it's less expensive then having it shipped to her place in Toronto. Anyway she knows the exact dates we are staying at both resorts, however let's say she orders it and it's expected to arrive during the dates we are staying at the Beach Club. Will it get sent right to our room or will we need to walk over to the Yacht Club Convention Center and pick it up over there?

Depends on how fast you want it. Even if you pick it up at the Shipping Office in the Convention Center, they still charge you the same amount (handling fee). Seems to me (I might be wrong though) that I've received things from Amazon via USPS. If that's the case, it will go to the front desk's back office and not the Shipping Office. Then the front desk runner will deliver it to your room ... no charge!

She actually did this in December 2010 when we stayed at the Boardwalk Inn and she even e-mailed us the tracking location e-mails. Well one day we got a tracking e-mail saying it arrived at 2:02 AM and then we went to pick it up at the Convention Center, however it was not there. Well we didn't realize this at the time but the Cast Member said it only arrived in Orlando at a local Post Office during that time since the Boardwalk Convention Center was not open to accept any packages. Well eventually it got sent to the Boardwalk to the Housekeeping department and they put it in our room, so that meant there was obviously no charge. I guess if she orders it exactly the same way we will know it will be sent to our room and no charge for getting it would be great, although just incase she orders it another way and gets sent to the Convention Center we want to be prepared ahead of time.

Only thing I can tell you for sure is that if it is shipped USPS, it will go directly to the front desk's back office and the front desk runner will deliver it at no charge.

Thank you Teena and looking back I believe that's how she wanted it to be sent last time. So assuming she orders it again and the tracking e-mail is from USPS, at least we will know it will eventually be sent to our room and not to the Convention Center.

Yes, and the front desk turns it over quick too. Amazon doesn't ship too fast though. Last thing I ordered took forever to get here! So allow plenty of time for Amazon.

Well like I said my Aunt knows exactly how many days we are staying at the Boardwalk and Beach Club, so she will know when to order it and it's not the first time she has done this.
