Has anyone ever dealt with a complete WASH OUT with rain?

Trying to not to read too much into a 2 week out forecast, but Accuweather can project out our trip now (Days 1-6 of a 7 day stay) and the forecast is straight-up RAIN (not scattered/isolated/afternoon TStorms, but RAIN) for EVERY DAY!!

Don't mind an afternoon storm (in fact, I welcome it...we have ADRs most nights around 5, 530...aka, storm time), but will be severely disappointed with flat-out rain all day. Although I guess lines would be shorter? Waste of SAB, though...

oh dont worry about the weather. Alll the boards were psyched up last week with Emily predictions and what happened? Nothing. Can't control the weather...and trust me the weather men dont know what to predict half the time

I agree. :thumbsup2

One of the best days DH and I had at AK was when it rained. People left in droves and we rode all the rides that wrre open several times without a wait.

We've stayed at HRH twice and LOVED the FOTL access!

Where are you staying? The kids really want to go back to Universal next year and do a split stay. Of course if the stock market and economy keep crashing we could end up vacationing in our own backyard and our inground pool will have to be SAB!

Sorry you couldn't be with us for the meet/shower - I had a great time meeting you last year. HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!

We are staying at the HRH...and definitely doing it for the FOTL access. Otherwise I would stay in Disney and do day trips like we did 6 years ago. It seems it's extra busy due to the Harry Potter land. Yeah, I hear ya on vacationing in our own backyard...we have an inground pool (pretty old, but it does the job!!). It was great meeting you last year. There are so many great people on this board.

Mickey T, love the room photos and really enjoying the continued live reports!

Teena, thinking of you and sending happy thoughts your way. Good luck tomorrow! :) I was just telling Dee that the boys saw the photos of your Lily shower on the computer the other night and ran over and said, "Hey! That's Teena!" So again, when you make an impression on pre-teen boys, you know you are going above and beyond at BC!

And how cute is that Lily photo? Too cute!!!! Thanks for sharing, Teena and Dee! :)

pixarmom - just wanted to let you know that IPO did a great job with the sand bucket "baskets" and even had the light up Mickey balloons delivered to our room. Last year the baskets were in the room when we got there - this year they came a few hours after we checked in!

The pirate merchandise that I saw was basically the same things as usual - eye patches, bandana, little telescopes etc.

In our "buckets" I had lollipops, popcorn, pretzels, chocolate bars, salt water taffy, Disney dollars and arcade cards. The kids loved them!

Tell the boys I wish I was going on the cruise with them!!!

Teena good luck with surgery #2. I will be in Disney Aug 21-23 to drop DD off for the College Program (staying at POP). I will try to sneak over there to say hi. If I don't make it then, I hope to see you when we are at BCV Sep 24-27.

Lily is absolutely adorable.

I look forward to seeing you. Hopefully I'll be able to return to work on 8/21 and 8/22!!

I had a really crappy family related day today so I splurged when I got home and upgraded to CL at BC. I admit that the appeal to me was the morning continental offerings.

I've read up on CL and I still don't really "get" it. What are the perks of it besides the yummy food lounge and the option to have someone turn down my bed (what is that by the way???)

Oh, and while I'm firing off questions: What's this about a bucket basket? I just read a post about a sandbucket of stuff waiting in the room - sounds cool but what's the story there?

*we are NOT a fancy family by any means. I am starting to wonder if we'll be out of place in CL*

Jeanne says she hates the sponge baths and her cord hasn't come off yet so it's still sponge baths. She gets very annoyed and lately has been pooping in the towel ... Jeanne thinks she's doing it to get even with her giving her the sponge bath. The look on her face says it all! I don't know if that's normal or not but Jeanne never did that.

When staying Club Level you will get a private check-in right inside the lounge, assuming you arrive before 10:00 PM and won't have to wait in the lobby in. Besides the continental breakfast you get afternoon snacks, hot food offerings from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM, desserts & cordials from 8:00 PM - 10:00 PM and the Beach Club IPO Cast Members will make all your ADR's in advance and handle any other requests you have. Basically all you do is fill out an online form that they will e-mail you. Finally you won't feel out of place when staying Club Level because it's basically all other families who are in the lounge and etc, so it's not like you are in a brand name hotel like the Ritz Carlton or Four Seasons.

:thumbsup2 Thanks! I appreciate all of your post but just quoted this part because it was concerning me a bit...

Switched our reservation from Boardwalk to Yacht club a couple weeks ago using military discount Nov. 10-15. This thread is a wealth of information! I can't wait for my first deluxe stay:cool1:

Jaceraden, when we stayed CL at AKL back in Jan. '10 one perk that I had never heard spoken but really stood out to us was the additional "living space" the lounge offers. Between the busier times and often later in the evening it was a nice place for everyone to meet back up, relax, have a refreshment, and talk about the day or upcoming plans. My in-laws traveled with us so instead of us sitting in their room on their bed or them sitting in our room on our bed the lounge became a nice place for visiting & relaxing. Of course during busier times we were mindful not to take up tables just chit-chatting when others needed a place to eat. ;)

Also, we're pretty plain ol' average folks...not even close to upper-crust by a long shot, and we felt completely at ease in the AKL CL. Didn't feel out of place in the slightest.

If you've never done it, give it a whirl! :goodvibes

I had the same thought as you before we stayed CL "We are not CL people"

In my real life, nobody waits on me! But can I tell you the joy I felt when my son needed a pencil sharpened and I asked where I could do that and the CL CM said to me "We will do that for you!"

Another thing I didn't see anyone mention is that if you purchase items in one of the parks or DTD, your packages will be delivered directly to your room, not to the Marketplace gift shop.

Your initial thought about the breakfast is our favorite perk with CL- just being a few steps away from all of the yummy breakfast offerings really got our day started on the right foot- we were on our way to a park by 7:30 every morning, and hungry for lunch around 11 or 11:30, so we were ahead of the crowds there. That alone is the reason we love Concierge, and we consider all of the other snacks, appetizers and even the evening alcohol as "bonus" perks.

I have never used the dining reservation services- NOBODY TOUCHES MY ADRs!- but I can see how this might be a nice service for others.

Turndown- someone will come in and fold down your sheets and blankets- "big deal", BUT THEY LEAVE YOU CHOCOLATE, TOO!!!

Regarding the sand buckets- Disneymomx7 and Pixarmom have used the IPO to help them purchase goodies in advance to leave in their room for the kids as a surprise. The CMs will fill a sand bucket or other tote with things available for purchase at the Marketplace gift shop. They can probably tell you more. Pixarmom may have pictures from a past trip, or when she returns from her late August visit.

Teena- good luck today! I hope the surgery goes well and this is the last of your medical setback:flower3:

Lily is adorable! My boys were not crazy about bathtime as infants (as opposed to pooping, we got little sprays instead). As they get older they tend to like them more. So as soon as she gets in the real tub she will stop giving momma a hard time;). Happy to hear she is already 9 pounds. I know you said she is small and lost some weight but it sounds like she is making up for it! I had a 5 pounder (preemie) so it took him quite a while to reach 9 pounds. I think Lily is just waiting for some grammy love before she gets too big :cloud9:.

Stay strong Teena...my prayers are with you today
