2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part III- DO NOT POST HERE- Summer/Fall

Im worried it will be so cold when we go we wont get use out of the "main" attraction, stormalong bay.

we check in feb 12, out feb 19.

what do you guys think?

I have been in Disney for mid Feb the last two years and the two trips were night and day. Two years ago we FROZE....it got to like 70 one day and the rest of the trip was rainy and 50 max. This year we had nothing but sun and 80 degrees and we went in the pool multiple times

I've been off this thread for a bit, and can't believe you've been having Kidney Stone problems!! I'm so sorry. DH winced when I told him, he was in quite a lot of pain with his!!!

The "Little Princess" is close to her 1 month mark, I bet she has grown quite a bit!!!

Sitting in my room at Beach Club. Been having some issues with our room, well more like the location of the room. It took us almost 2 hours to get checked in on Friday!!
We had a garden view room booked, but they had to down grade us to standard view, and our room is on the second floor right at the top of the stairs from the lobby.
We were worried about the noise, and for good reason! We also keep having trouble with 3 girls that keep hanging out in front of our room, they plug their laptops in and start yelling and screaming. I opened the door putout the "do not disturb" sign and that really got them going. We got fed up and went down to the front desk they were nice and said they were booked up so they couldn't move us. They said we could move to Yacht Club. We said no, I don't understand why we should be moved instead of dealing with the issue.
SAB has been great, but I keep hearing people say that the water is too warm, and I have to agree.

Thanks for the good wishes. Princess Lily is growing ... not real fast though. She's still pretty tiny. She had a rough start and lost more weight than normal at the beginning but she's starting to put on pounds now. She's around 9 pounds finally. I can't wait to get ahold of her again. I hope the surgery tomorrow goes as planned and then another next week and then I will have a week to get better before my planned trip to help Jeanne in the classroom and see Lily.

We are thinking of doing a split trip next year so I can't wait to hear about your venture to the other side also.

I have no doubts at all that you will be up and running just in time!!!

Oh gosh, I bet you are counting down the minutes until you can squeeze her tight again.

Be sure and get plenty of rest between now and the trip, so you can heal up fast!!

Oh, and make sure this thread gets an updated picture of her when you get there!!!!

I would move to Yacht club, I bet for all your trouble (being downgraded at check in and your inconvience of moving) they would probably upgrade you to a possible nicer view!! BTW Yacht is closer to Stormalong bay also.

Second surgery is tomorrow. I will not be able to work next Sunday and Monday. Hoping I'll be back on 8/21 and 8/22.

I would move to Yacht club, I bet for all your trouble (being downgraded at check in and your inconvience of moving) they would probably upgrade you to a possible nicer view!! BTW Yacht is closer to Stormalong bay also.

I second this. I think I would take the move. Have they done anything to make up for the downgrade? Did they explain how it happened? I am so sorry you are having room issues. I think that is the quickest way to start a vacation off on the wrong foot.

I have to agree with both of you. I think we would move over to the Yacht. We love the Beach but if I paid for a Garden view and they downgraded me I think I would have been very upset. I hope they compensate you in some way.

This was definitely a 'last minute' trip! We almost didn't plan anything big this summer...but with the kids both going to college in the fall, we figured we better not miss out on a summer vacation. Since we are staying on-site at the 'other park' (haha) we figured 2 nights will be enough time. Our only visits to US/IOA was for 2 days 6 years ago (and we stayed at WL the entire time). I'll let you know how we make out over there! We're mainly going for the WWOHP land...Dee's trip report has been a great help!!

I know I may have mentioned it earlier, but you guys did a great job with the DIS Meet/shower for Teena. I loved seeing all the pictures and hearing about it! Teena...we miss you and wish you the best...

I see by the trip list Sondra you are here through the 14th. I would talk with a manager again and explain the way you explained to us. We stayed 4 nights at the BC and are now at the YC. I know packing back up would be a pain but so would putting up with a room you do not like. We are loving the YC right now.

The dreaded downgrade - ugh. No excuse for it, IMO, I would be peeved if it happened to me, if I wanted to look @ parking lots or roofs I would have booked standard view. I always am a tad concerned about room location/view as we fly in from the west coast and arrive late and I worry that all of the 'good' rooms will be taken.
On a more hopeful note, managed to apply a 40% AP discount and am no longer paying rack rate - yahoo!
Teena hope the second surgery goes well. Lily is adorable, I keep telling my son it's about time I became a grandmom - first, I suppose, he needs to find the right potential mom

We've stayed at HRH twice and LOVED the FOTL access!

Where are you staying? The kids really want to go back to Universal next year and do a split stay. Of course if the stock market and economy keep crashing we could end up vacationing in our own backyard and our inground pool will have to be SAB!

Sorry you couldn't be with us for the meet/shower - I had a great time meeting you last year. HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!

Yep. Upgrade city this trip. Our BC CL was booked standard and when we received our paper work it had Lagoon View printed out. And this YC view, I don't believe you can get more of a Lagoon View than this. Off to the Market Place for breakfast.

what a great view.....i hope i can be so lucky on my trip in sept..at the BC...we are considering upgrading to the CL...debating if it is worth the extra $....on other trips...we usally do the club level rooms...but this will be our first time staying on property..

Hi guys, newbie here! My family and I will be staying at the Beach Club in Sept and we are SUPER excited I'm trying to make my way through this thread but wanted to ask a quick question.

We will be flying into Orlando 2 days before we check in to visit with some family. Our first day to check in will be Sunday and we have planned a full morning/afternoon at Animal Kingdom that day. Do we have to go to the hotel and check in first or can we go straight to Animal Kingdom and then check in later at the Beach Club. I wasn't sure how we would get our passes if we didn't check in first? Thanks so much!

welcome, we are newbies too....and are going in sept. also at the BC...there are 10 of us total...including the disney "scrooge" aka...my husband...not a disney fan at all.....(I know)...gasp....but he is willing to go because we are taking the grandkids....
