Just returned from a week in Ogunquit and what was waiting in my front hall for me when I arrived?

That wonderful envelope full of all of my BC trip documents!! Talk about coming home to a wonderful surprise!!! Now it feels official! What a great way to help ease our end of vacation blues!

This is not your average trip either. This one is to celebrate my DD's 10th birthday (she can't believe she is "double digits") and my DW and my 20th wedding anniversary!

Just thought I would share this wonderful news with all of my fellow YC/BC fans!

August 23rd can't come fast enough!

LOL, I wish! No, we're now going just in October. I was originally booked around Labor Day. We were at PBH and AKL in May/June this year, so we can't complain! Looking forward to F&W :drinking1 Thanks for updating!

Hi everyone, I haven't been on in about a week because I'm on vac in Disney so I'll catch up when I get home. I'll do a mini review later in the week but I'm just sooooo excited I have to share with my YC/BC friends. So I have water view room for a one night stay at YC for tonight. I headed over this morning at about 10:30 to see if we could check in early and wait for it.........I was upgraded to club level..... Woohoo!!!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1: I will take lots of pics of the lounge offerings. If anyone has any questions or needs any pics or info just let me know!

Sorry, double posted and can't figure out how to delete this one so just changed it!

Hey Dee,

Welcome back!

The ocean water was FREEZING!! We go every year and I think it was the coldest I have ever felt up there. We live right on the ocean here in Winthrop and are constantly at the beach and I thought the water here was cold but it was nothing compared to Ogunquit. Your feet went totally numb the second you stepped foot into the ocean. It was pretty crazy.

We always stay at this wonderful resort, the Anchorage By The Sea. They have a great pool area (though not even in the same league as SAB) so we spent most of our time there. As you know the weather was crazy hot so it was nice to have the pool as well as their pool side restaurant right there to cool off and grab some A/C time. We did one real beach day but that was about it. We are a bit spoiled by living right on the water so a pool is much more exciting than the ocean to my kids!

Ogunquit is such a nice place and only an hour away from us. I told the family that it was a great "tune up" vacation before our BC trip :)

Jay

P.S. Did you ever get those pics of the paintings of the BC they sell at the Marketplace? I tried to take and send from my iPhone but sometimes that doesn't work as well as I'd like!

August 23rd can't come fast enough!

We agree 100%! We're arriving at BWI on August 23, 3-night Dream cruise sailing August 25, then BC August 28-29! So we'll count down to August 23 with you!

Happy Birthday to your daughter and Happy Anniversary to you and your wife! :wizard:

30 days as of today! Told my kids I couldn't wait to get into the 20's on the countdown! Tomorrow is the day for that :)

my family and I (10 of us in all) are planning an early December WDW trip. We can't afford to stay at a deluxe for the whole trip, but I thought it might be fun to spend 2 or 3 nights at one at the end of our trip.

Originally I was thinking AKL for the animals or the Poly for the monorail, but then I saw Stormalong Bay. Who needs a water park when your own hotel pool has a lazy river.

So I guess my question is, is the pool really as awesome as it looks? Is the pool alone enough to get me to choose this deluxe over all the others?

We are considering a stay at the YC and I was wondering if all rooms come with a daybed? We've stayed at the BC before and I know not all rooms there come with one, but I wasn't sure if the YC was the same way :confused3. I know they can be requested, but with us being a family of 4, it's not guaranteed. We have 2 teens and the daybeds came in handy when we stayed at the Poly and GF, so it's hard to go somewhere else and not have one. TIA :flower3:.

What's up with that! I keep hearing how warm the water temps are but it seems colder to me, too. I can usually stand any temperature, but it has been hard even for me to go into the water this week.

Yes, I did get the pictures, thanks! Guess I forgot to post them here and on the Marketplace thread. I'll do that later today!

It is a great pool with a lot of variety and activities!

Another reason to chose BC/YC however, is the location- a 5 minute walk from EPCOT.

So if the pool alone isn't enough reason, maybe that will push it over the edge.

No, all rooms at YC do not have a daybed. You can put it on your reservation as a request. You can also request a rollway cot free of charge.

Check out the FAQ section on page 1 for more info.

Thank you.....I thought it might be the same as the BC :(.

Storm Along Bay is phenomenal. There really is nothing else to compare it to in all of WDW. No other pool area comes close.

That being said I would caution you on choosing a resort based on the pool for a December trip. The weather is spotty at best. When I was there the first week of December, 2008 it was in the 80's every day. They said it was the warmest December ever. When I went back last December it was in the 40's and freezing cold. I spent most of my trip shivering due to the cold and windy conditions.

You just don't know what to expect so there is a decent chance that you can't use the pool at all.

Thanks for the quick advice from both of you. I was thinking it would be nice to have the nights at the deluxe be at the end of the trip, then we could take a relaxing day and spend the morning/afternoon at the pool then head over to Epcot for some world showcase and a nice dinner.

But that is a good point about it being December, I went once in early December but it was a while ago. I think we had some nice days and some chilly ones. Aren't the pools heated? Or does that really not make such a huge difference if the day is already pretty chilly?

You will LOVE Yacht and Beach in December! The hotels are beautifully decorated (so is Boardwalk) and the quick walk to Epcot and also the boat ride or nice walk to Disney Studios is BEAUTIFUL in December!!

My trip is coming up fast and I have a few questions I hope someone can answer:
1. How is the bug situation this time of year? Should I plan on bringing a lot of bug spray?

2. Does anyone know if my 15 yr old needs any ID to board the plane (Southwest)?

3.I am not staying club level:sad1: My son is turning 16 on the 2nd day of our trip. Is there someone I can contact to possibly bring balloons or something festive to our room?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. This is such a great thread. I learned so much and appreciate everyone who contributes. I am so excited to be at the beach club in 12 days!

I don't want your questions to get lost on the bottom of the page!

1. I've never needed bug spray at Disney but maybe someone else can offer an opinion.
2. My oldest child is 7 and has never needed ID but, again, maybe someone with older kids has an opinion.
3. Disney florist can certainly arrange something. It's not cheap but I think they do a good job.

I hope you have a great trip! We had a good experience last summer flying SW out of Islip and staying at BC.
