Park hop!!

If you or your husband wanted to take a snooze with the kids, the other spouse could make a quick run to shop/eat at Epcot or Hollywood studios. Also you could do a 'further' park in the morning (Animal Kingdom, Magic Kingdom) and then do a close park (Hollywood Studios, Epcot) at night and when it was time for the kids to be tuckered out and go back to the room for bed time maybe Mom or Dad could come back to the close park for some 'me' time while the other parent went to bed early with the kids.

HOP! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :tigger: :goofy: :mickeyjum :stitch: :simba: :donald: :dumbo: :sulley: :jumping3:

good point. But would you buy them just to be able to catch the monorail on your way to the MK? That seemed like her question.

No, it wouldn't be for that...but I'd get park hoppers no matter where I was staying, for a host of reasons. :goodvibes

Completely agree...especially with the last part. My husband (bless him) is completely content to head back to the resort with the kiddo and leave me to enjoy some solo time, which I will particularly LOVE at WS. Granted, this isn't going to work for everyone, but it is one option to consider.

I think my post got buried in the all the excitement of this thread, which is totally understandable because those baby pictures are adorable!! Congrats to the proud grandparents! :goodvibes

I just had a few questions and would love your input.

First, I was just wondering if anyone knew the approximate percentage of garden view rooms that have both a daybed and a full balcony. We are a party of 6 (one child under 3), so I'm assuming we will get a room with a daybed and I have requested "full balcony", but just wondering what are my odds are of getting one.

Second, does anyone know what time the campfire/movies end each night. Our flight doesn't arrive until 5 pm, then I'm guessing ME will get us to the resort by 6ish. We'll want to have a bite to eat so I'm hoping we can get seated at Beaches and Cream. Would we be able to make it to the campfire and/or movie on the beach by the time we're finished eating on our arrival night?

Thanks!

-park hopper here!!! But I just wanted to remind you that you don't have to add ph until you NEED to. It will be the same price, $50 whether you add it on day one three or six.

I don't think I have seen info about % of balconies for non CL gv rooms Posted prev so we may not have the numbers.

Getting ready for 9am rd at Mk. Still a surprise to the kids!!!

I think I ended up asking two questions, now that I re-read my post. And after I said I just had "one."

I appreciate everyone's feedback. A five minute walk to the World Showcase (from what I understand) is pretty appealing for whenever I want. My current plan is to do one park each the first 4 days, and a second MK the 5th. The tricky part comes for the 6th and 7th days, and that's when I think we most would want to PH. But between filling down time with Downtown Disney (otherwise known as home of the LEGO store for the munchkins) I had, in my own mind, decided against PH unless we really wanted it.

Decisions, decisions...

Good luck. Sounds like PH would be a nice option to have. We aren't "park commandos" anymore. We have lots of trips under our belts and I did that when my DD was young. Now we visit a park most days of our trip but spend a lot of time at the resort and the resort pool. The others are so right - have to decide what your family's style is :flower3:

I understand :)

Do they have a safe at the YC CL desk/check in area for valuables that won't fit in the room safe or is that only available at the front desk?

I've always taken an old laptop that I wasn't overly concerned about if something were to happen to it, but I will be taking a new one this trip.

The very first time we went to Disney in '06 (DS was 9 and DD was 5) we didn't get them until the first day. We always get park hoppers from now on. It gets so hot during the day, it's nice to know you can take a swim break after lunch then go back to the parks when it cools down some. IMO it is worth the money. Good luck and enjoy your trip!:cool1:

Newsflash! Date line Las Vegas......

The latest in Lilly updates indicates that today she is potty trained and she has accepted enrollment at Harvard for the fall semester.

Her major is to be declared later but Pop Pop hopes it's not "Boys".

Beep, beep, beep, BeepBeepBeep.

This concludes your (fake) "Lilly Update". Stay turned to this station for further details.

Congratulations Teena on your absolutely precious granddaughter! Lily was the name I had for DS but alas he was a boy. LOL.

So I was texting DHs cousin tonight and she says her DH didn't book CL at all - he spent the same money and booked a one bedroom villa! So, where are they? I'm ok with that because it takes the pressure off - if we don't get a discount I can always change the reservation to non-CL. I just couldn't stand the idea of their family going in to the lounge and us not having access, KWIM? As for them having a bigger room, that's not a big deal at all. Them not being CL really gives us more flexibility. He said he wasn't given the opportunity to reserve CL when he booked online... That seems strange!

Sounds like they must be at BCV, which would not have a CL option. Glad that gives you more options--and everyone will still be able to enjoy SAB together!! :) I booked GV non-CL for our Sept. trip, but am still debating on whether or not to upgrade to CL. Decisions, decisions. :confused3

I am 100% in favor of PH's. It feels so limiting without them. Especially if you are staying in an Epcot Resort. I can't tell you how many times we have spent time in another park during the day and the leisurely strolled over to Epcot and spent time there in the evening.

It allows you to watch Illuminations nightly or grab fast passes for Soarin earlier in the day and come back and ride later. Also great for zipping over to World Showcase for a snack or meal.

For us it is standard. We never consider not gettting them. Heck, I even added on the Water Park option for our August trip since we love Typhoon Lagoon so much. I know it will cut into our SAB time but TL is as much a part of WDW for us as Epcot and MK are.

I've been undecided about the PH option - its only an extra @ $200 to add to our 4 tickets, but still... that's a lot of souvenirs I could by. :teacher: My current itinerary doesn't really call for us to PH. We've got two munchkins (DS5 and DS7) and I really think PH would overwhelm them. One park per day (with an afternoon spent at SAB) seemed to be what we could manage.

I was going to play it by ear and add it there if we wanted it, but from reading posts here, it seems as if everyone seems to get the PH - partly to eat in Epcot (mmm:love:). But I do like the idea of taking the monorail when possible, and I know the munchkins would, too.

So BC/YC'ers... do you PH, and do you consider this worth the extra $$? And is there any other way to ride the monorail to MK?

PHs are a must on all our trips. The main reason is crowd levels. At least once every trip, we plan on a certain park and when we get there it is packed. We use touringplans and Tour Guide Mike for our planning but sometimes it just happens and when it does we just leave and head to another park asap. Most times when you get to the other park, it's empty.

Furthermore, when you're staying at the YC or BC, it is a 5 to 10 min walk into epcot. We spent many of our evenings in the WS after a day at another park.

When you look at the PH option as a % of your total trip expense, it's pretty small but it gives you lots of options. You can always add the PH option when you get there. If you decide you want it, just have it added on.

Cheers!

Thanks Dee! I did see the start time for the campfire is 7:30, but I didn't see an end time. I did notice the movie starts at 9:00, so we should at least be able to catch the movie that first night (or at least part of it.)

Enjoy your day!

Grille because you can get a breakfast buffet that has just about everything at the Cape May breakfast buffet or order off of a menu to wit: ""The Captain's Omelet" - Open-faced Cheese Omelet with Butter Poached Lobster, Potato, and Chive Cream $12.99" (OMG!!!!! It was AWESOME!!!!! :woohoo:) or Steak and eggs.

For breakfast during the early hours (8-9 am) the restaurant was half empty when we were there in mid June so maybe it's the time you are picking?

Captain's Grille was not that busy at lunch time either so it may also be a glitch in the web site.

I know that out of all the restaurants at BC/YC the Captain's Grille was our favorite. We had breakfast and lunch there. The things that made it a favorite for our family were the great food, friendly and competent service and relaxed atmosphere.

Breakfast at Cape May with the Characters was nice but we went twice and the second time it was just to eat and run since we had already met the characters. On a funny note, the 2nd time we went, Donald wanted to know why we didn't want any pictures and I told him that I had filled up my camera's memory card with pictures of him and I had no more room left. He REALLY liked that!

MM, thanks for keeping us updated with baby pics!

Teena, the baby is just beautiful! I copied the pics and am sending them to Jim to see, too. :goodvibes

Seriously, I am unable to get results...It is stuck in search mode... :headache:

^ All my reservations "disappeared" this morning and the web site said there was some glitch they were working on. Maybe that's what's causing the problem.
