2011 Yacht & Beach Club FAQ, Part II

As some of you know, I own DVC at BLT and have always loved the CR. I went to WDW as a child, the first year it opened and we stayed at the CR and I was hooked! Hooked on all the magic WDW has to offer and hooked on the CR, watching the monorail go right through the building. Sometimes my parents weren’t able to get a room at CR and we would stay at the Poly. While we enjoyed it there, I longed for CR. Over the years, WDW added more resorts and parks, and we continued to try for CR as our first choice.

Fast forward to when I met my future DH and I took him to WDW. I couldn’t afford to stay at CR, so we stayed in what was called the Disney Village area, now know as the Downtown Disney area. Well, Disney worked its magic and my future DH was hooked! Good thing because I can’t imagine being married to someone who doesn’t share my crazy love of WDW! Over the years we stayed at many Disney Resorts and enjoyed them all.

When we had our first child, we stayed off property and even though we did have a wonderful time, we decided we would stay on property from then on. We have stayed at Poly and the Cabins and would happily stay at both again. We have stayed at CR more times than I can remember. Our children feel very much at home there, so when DVC decided to build BLT, we knew we would be purchasing there. We absolutely love CR & BLT! A few years back, we needed to add a night to our trip at CR and we ended up at the Swan. We talked about staying in the Boardwalk area again……someday. Well someday came last week when we stayed at BC.

WOW! What a resort! In the past, we had been in the lobby before to eat at Cape May, but that was about it. The rooms at BC are beautiful! We stayed CL and made good use of the lounge and all it had to offer. All the staff we encountered were very helpful and friendly. We enjoyed SAB with the Noodle Family floating around and relaxing! We even had a wimpy Noodle cousin join us and he is now with the Noodle Family hanging out with Bell Services. We walked around the Boardwalk area at night, taking in the sights and sounds. We couldn’t believe how convenient it was to walk to/from Epcot. We also took the boat to/from the Studios. The bus to MK was quick and easy and we had no trouble getting to AK by bus as well. We went to HDD at FW one night and took the bus to MK & then the boat to FW. Worked like a charm! With the exception of HDD, all our table service meals were at BC, YC and Epcot. It was so nice to be able to walk to so many places!

A huge thrill for me was meeting our very own Teena in the lobby! I feel like I have known her for years!
Something that surprised me was my children asking when we are staying at BC again! They have never asked that about any resort before! BC has won us over! Looks like we will be trying to add a few nights at BC or BCV for our next trip!

I want to thank each and every one of you who has contributed to this fantastic board! I have gathered so much information here. This is one of the friendliest boards I have been on. It feels like a tight knit family.

BLTtinkerbell, thanks so much for your report and sharing your story! I mentioned a little bit ago that our boys are interested in a split stay starting with CR and then returning to BC, so I'll add you to my list of posters to pester for information! I remember when we first tried BC in January 1992 - it was so hard to stay somewhere other than our favorite monorail resort - Poly! So glad to hear that you had a wonderful time!!

Hi BCV Thanks for the YC info.. I know that you are a GF fan too... How would you say that the two resorts... YC and GF compare???

Scotmel Nice to hear that the YC is a favorite resort of yours ...and that it has a small feel to it...on the floor layout that I saw the fifth floor did look like it had less rooms???...glad to hear that none of the rooms is too far from the lounge either...we like convenience..and to do most of our walking in the parks..not our resort..LOL!

I first saw the Tinkerbill photo shortly before our 2009 trip and I showed it to oldest son, Nate. It was our little secret. Every time Tink was mentioned or appeared during our vacation, my son and I would look at each other and knowingly whisper or mouth “Tinkerbell’s a dude!” or “Dude”. This was the perfect humor for an 11 year old boy and was one of the few times during the trip that he would smile or laugh out loud. Don’t get me wrong- he had a great time on the trip, but if you have kids in the preteen/teen age bracket, you KWIM!

I've gone through many pages and cannot find information on when the Y&B Club rooms were last renovated. Were they both renovated at the same time or which one is more recent. Thanks.

Never thought about that, great idea. DD is 10 (11 when we go) and DS will be 14 end of this month. I haven't told him yet but I can probably bet DD will beat me to the punch!

Yes, both have been renovated recently and are in excellent condition with flat screen TVs, working a/c, running water and all the modern conveniences (except for the hidden closet which still seems to run on chip and dale power generators). If you were to look at the pictures on page one you'll see what I mean.

Toni ... Bob and I will actually be there as guests while you are there. I'm finally allowed back in the sun come August and our anniversary is August 4, so we are checking in for three nights of fun in the sun at Stormalong Bay. We check in on Tuesday, 8/2 and check out on Friday, 8/5. So hopefully we can all float around the lazy river together!!!!

Are there many differences between the SV and GV CL rooms themselves? Is one any bigger than the other? Is one located in a better space than the other in the resort. Are the GV rooms also on the same floor as the lounge or sprinkled across floors like the deluxe?

My family and I are coming from southern PA. When making our plans, I offered to bring Teena some fresh sweet corn and some tomatoes, as we usually drive. Just this week we booked flights. So we are now flying I truly do apologize as I don't think we will be able to transport these items. I am so sorry.

Teena, not sure if you will be with "peanut" then, but I sincerely hope I'm able to say hello to you! I'm pretty sure I will run into Robyn (we are on the same floor with the same view )! So disappointed I will not be around for the DisMeet as we check out early on the 25th. I hope you all have a wonder time sitting down in person and chatting!

No problem ... I'm actually sitting here screaming and crying .... only kidding. The chance to fly versus driving ... you definitely did the right thing!!! If they schedule me, I'll be working on the 24th so we should get to meet up. And by the time I got to the BC on 7/24 the corn would have been dried out so honestly, it's fine. I hope we do get a chance to chat on 7/24 if they schedule me! I can't thank you enough for thinking of me and Bob ... it was very very sweet of you to even consider doing that!
