Sorry this is so lengthy but I am bored to tears and in the midst of our 17 hour journey home. So reminiscing is passing the time! So sad to have left:sad1: but hope to return soon!

Sorry your vacation is over :sad1:

Thank you so much for the fantastic review and all of the helpful information. Bummer about the 1501 exit being closed!

Safe travels home!

Great information and great way to relieve the post trip blues. I have a hard time coming on the boards the first few weeks we are back from WDW.

As Mothers Day 2011 comes to a close I want to thank all my Dis Moms (age is not a factor in this title). Thank you Dee, Robyn, Marlton Mom, Nanette, Amanda(s) etc...for entertaining and informing. Y'all are what keep the Disney spirit alive outside the Magic.

And a special Happy Mothers Day to our special (Grand)Mom! Teena I know between your treatment and work you have to be getting tired. Take care of yourself and hang in there for 'Peanut'!

Did anyone make it over the Mother's Day Brunch at the Mousekeeping Fantasy Closet Retreat and Spa today?

Heard they were serving Le Cellier's Cheddar Cheese Soup, Roasted Beet and Goat Cheese salad from Sunshine Seasons, Filet Mac and Cheese from Jiko, Crab Legs from the Cape May and Banana Bread Pudding from 'Ohana.

Following the brunch, complimentary massages were offered on one of the many daybeds while the Chippendales washed and folded everyone's laundry.

OK, you all can have your fantasies. This is mine!

Why thank you MickeyT! We'd be lost with out you and the other guys that contribute to the thread so keep it coming! :grouphug:

I hope everyone has survived Mother's day nicely. From the breakfasts in bed to the brunches out at the fancy restaurants...... From the Hallmark cards and the handmade ones too. The flowering baskets and the knick knacks and all the "help" you could stand! What would we do without our legion of admirers??

Why yes, YES I did make it. It was touch and go there for awhile but I finally told my family I would be in the bathroom for quite some time while undertaking the annual spring leg "deforestation" project and they were NOT to DISTURB me! I plan on attending Star Wars weekend soon and I hate it when I'm confused with Chewbacca, at least from the knees down.

Once safely ensconced in the suite I thought I could hear their plaintive cries of "Are you done yet, we simply MUST pester you with some trivial matter!" but I resisted since I have been hardened by years of psuedo-emergencies when I am in the can.

Is it just me or do people in your family have the uncontrollable urge to hold impromptu family meetings while you are in the bathroom?

Any hoo I slipped out the window and passed through an old wardrobe and landed in the fantasy suite of my dreams. (We might as well reference Narnia and all the other great children's lit for our fantasy suite ideas!)

Upon return I was almost ratted out by the dog who detected Dole Whip drool on my shirt. Thank God he can't talk but he was making a heck of an effort to communicate using sign language. A couple of milk bones later I was back in his good graces. :thumbsup2

So there you go. Another quickie trip to the fantasy suite! What would we do with out it???

Mike, thanks for the very sweet Mothers Day wishes! I hope you and your lovely lady and family all had a great day as well!

Yacht and Beach Clubs opened in 1990, the BC Villas not until 2002. I am excited to see how different the area looks now since our first stay at YC was in 1994 before the Villas were built at BC and before the BW was finished.
Back then there was a tram you could ride back from Epcot which they got rid of when BW opened.

YC/BC opened fall 1990.

I first stayed there in 1993 -- it was very different looking then -- they were still building Boardwalk, which was quite the project -- and fascinating to watch go up. And later the BCV, also fascinating to watch go up.

I love the way it turned out!:thumbsup2

I really believe this is the best thread on all of the DIS!!!!

This afternoon is my Mom's surgery - please keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

Reposted from a question on the main resorts forum:

Last year we stayed at BC in a room overlooking the woods towards the UK at Epcot(3 minutes walk to entrance) it was a perfect position and would love that again, that was just asking for a standard view when booking, but now i read that BC now have a woodland view option along with garden and pool view. The problen is on the UK Disney website we only get Standard, garden or pool view options, so which one should i pay for to get best chance of the same or similar?
The room last year i think was 1511.

I think this would now be classified as a garden view. Standard view will give you a view of a parking lot or rooftops, garden is something green and water view gives you a view of one of the pools or lake.

I think you would want to book a GARDEN VIEW room and request a room close to and facing EPCOT

I will repost your question over on the Yacht and Beach Club FAQ thread- you may get additional information there.

Couldn't agree more!

Robyn, best of luck and many prayers for your mom's surgery today. What an awful ordeal this has been for all of you. I truly hope she starts feeling better soon.

Sorry, I did not but I did have my LeCellier Cheddar Cheese Soup compliments of my husband for dinner last night. We have the 2009 Epcot Food and Wine Festival cookbook with that recipe in it. My husband puts extra bacon, its so yummy!!!

Been a few days since I have been on. Work, kids, life has been keeping me busy.
Hope all you Mothers had a very wonderful Mothers day.

I had a very nice one: Kids made me breakfast in bed (Dad made of course), took a long bike ride (Finally a really nice day in Chicagoland), and husband made Cheddar Cheese Soup from Le Cellier for dinner. No baseball games, etc. a nice relaxing day with the family!!!

Mickeymousehouse club - Walking directions for a Hess Beerrun from Beach Club. As you exit from the BC lobby toward the boardwalk, you will see the Boardwalk Inn across the lake. Turn left and follow the sidewalk around the lake to the Boardwalk Inn. You will pass the ESPN club and some other shops and restaraunts. There will be an alcove on your left to walk back to the Boardwalk Inn. Walk into the alcove, stay to the left and go up a flight of stairs (You are still outside) Now you are in the front of the Boardwalk. You will see a road taking you down a hill and the Hess Station is directly across the street. I have taken luggage to make the return trip easier but thinking your group of young men will not have any problems carrying the beer back. We also pick up some snacks and usually some wine as they have incredibly reasonable prices. Another option is a new service which we haven't used but I found a link in another post. The service is www.beerrun.biz

Thanks for the detailed info! That helps a lot! :flower3:

While being with a group of young men sounds like fun ;) I'll only have a not -so- young DH to do the beer run while I wait with our 2 girls, but he's all up for getting us a few drinks to (hopefully) enjoy on our full balcony at the BC :goodvibes

But it does indeed sound very doable for the other poster who is travelling with the group of young guys :)

Thanks again for the directions, we do appreciate it!!
