2011 Wine & Dine Halloween 5k Fun Run

Someone mentioned being in the last corral. How do you know what corral you're in and where that corral is? This is my first 5k. Thanks!

By the way, ran 1 mile, walked .25 and then ran another mile today on my lunch break. :thumbsup2 The second mile I did took 10:30. My goal is to keep under a 10 minute mile so I'm happy with that for right now....just need to keep improving!

Unless I am missing something, there are no corrals in the Disney 5k's One should line up in the appropriate location based on their expected pace. If you run 6 minute miles head up front. If 16 minute miles head to the back. 10 minutes, about a third of the way back.

Sounds like it shouldn't create too much of a time crunch at all. Thanks again for all the great info! I really appreciate it!

I'll add to the expected return time... It really does not matter unless you are using a pre-paid contract of some sort. I would just put a mid afternoon time down and be done with it. Regardless of if it goes past the day, you are billed on actual time in your possession.

I wonder if you are rental at MCO and dropping at the port? If so you realize you are paying top $$ to return the car at a location other than the point of origination. Check out returning the car back at MCO and taking DCL xportation to the port. versus the transfer fee for the dropping of the car. I know most national chains can be pricey.

Thanks so much! Also, I'm in the last corral, so I was curious at what time the race will actually start. We are driving to the port, so I need to have a drop-off time for our rental car as well.

I saw the above and was wondering how she knew she was in the last corral.

So sorry about the confusion guys...I was under the impression that there would be corrals based on expected pace, and I had signed up at the slowest pace. My bad.
I am really happy to know that I can line up at a faster pace since my times have been improving.

Thanks for the time info :) I'm renting from the Budget at Doubletree in DTD and returning it to Cape Canaveral. I got a midsize for $43.12 including fees, so much cheaper than DCL transfers for my family, plus we can pick up a few things on the way if need be.

That is true of the full and half marathon but the 5Ks are kind of on your honor. You will want to start with people who will be the same pace as you for safety and, well, it is just good race etiquette.

The last 2 years DW and I walked in the Family Fun Run 5K in January during Marathon Weekend there were pace signs in the stage area. From what I recall they were something like....under 7m/m, 7-8m/m, 9-10m/m, 11-12m/m, 13/14m/m, 15-16m/m then walkers.

Understood & thanks... Even with the honor system of lining up I can guarantee that there will be folks up front who should not be there.

Good to know, thanks. I will have a stroller so I'll be in the back of the pack, I would guess. But my goal is to keep a 10 mile per minute pace or less.

There were plenty of strollers that moved up at the Princess 5K. Most were nice. Some plowed through as if they were the only people there. :sad2::sad2:

Um....I just re-read what I typed. 10 miles per minute......:rotfl: I wish! I meant 10 minutes per mile. :rolleyes1

Those are so pretty! It makes me wish I had someone to run the relay with!!! :lovestruc

Will we have to go to WWoS the day before for "packet pick-up" or is that only for the 1/2? The website isn't clear about it.....

Plan on going to the Expo for your 5k packet on Friday. Disney really wants all packets picked up at the expo. Historically, the 5ks have allowed race day packet pickups, but until you read in the FINAL 5k instructions that race day packet pickup is allowed plan on Friday. The fianl instructions will be published in September.
