2011 Point Charts - Any guesses when??

The fact that they exist doesn't help me at all if they're not offered thru DVC. That doesn't do me any good.

Maybe you should consider a more versatile timeshare? (Tough in cheek ... running to grab my flame suit.)

You know. This is what's great about the Disboards just this morning, I was talking to my sis about possibly keeping my last BWV contract ( sold my other since our last "member enhancement ) and it's still on the market. Ahhh, new refurbs, working on the pool...yadda yadda yadda...

Then, I pop on and BAM, I'm tickled to death to be getting rid of my DVC again. If I want no customer service, no communication and inability to actually "find" upper management to discuss a problem with, I'll book a flight!

look, i am not playing a game with you. as far as I'M concerned the only options are NONE. i couldn't care less about what anybody outside of DVC has available. that has absolutely no bearing on what we as DVC members can trade for. in finding these other NON-DVC options in france you obviously wanted to show that you have access to other resources that i as a just a mere DVC owner do not have thru the DVC / RCI website. but whatever. good for you.

as far as a "more versatile timeshare" goes it's not necessary for us. we only travel outside of the US on very rare occasions so it doesn't affect me for the most part. this particular trip that we're planning may be a once in a lifetime trip and it started with the DCL we booked. it has no bearing on what we NORMALLY do from year to year to year (WDW 2-3 times per year). i am truely more disappointed with how crappy disney treats us at DLP than i am in the whole RCI thing (or lack of it). i only responded to chuck's post about the RCI thing 'cuz he brought it up as a thought that i should consider. i wanted him to know that AS A DVC MEMBER there were no options available and that i'd already looked into it.

I did a spreadsheet which calculated the difference and the resulting differences were negligible. The difference in total points available from 2008, which was a leap year, and 2009 (when the point charts were identical) was in the same range as the difference between 2009 & 2010, after reallocation.

This kind of statement drives me nuts. You say the numbers were "negligible" but what WERE the numbers. Even if they went up by 1 point that's an increase, even if small enough to be considered "negligible".

I suspect at least part of that might be true, but if they do that, where will they bring the points down?

They could bring the total point requirements of May, etc. down (Dream season?) and maybe shift early December into Choice.

The ways the numbers of Weekdays and Weekends vary from year to year and season to season would make it to be a complex calculation. It would be interesting to analyze. But you have to realize, Even if you are paid bi-weekly, you can occasionally get a year with 27 paychecks, things like that cause variances..

Ok, if studios are increased, has anyone thought that perhaps this is a backdoor approach to nix the continued demand for small contracts? If demand for studios is driven in part by small contract purchases, this move would in fact all but stifle these types of purchases. Why break up a larger contract only to sell off part of it(40 or 50 points) if they won't be enough for more than a couple of days? It would also affect the resale market for such contracts. Thoughts?

This year I have 27 pay periods outside of our bonus pool (yes, I still get one of those naughty words).

I'm not sure the studio=small contract thing is the driving force. Many people stay in studios to save points. It's not just those who have 40-50 points. Studios are also the major focus of those who rent. Perhaps THAT is the driving force behind that decision.

I think we had better hope that increasing the price of studios is not a prime focus of future points restructures, since the "not more than 20% change each year" limits changes to low point studios the most. For example, in the restructure for 2010, the SV studios at BWV in Adventure and Choice seasons went from 9 to 10 points on weeknights because 1 point was the maximum allowable change (2 points is more than 20% of 9). If another increase is in the cards in 2011, the points for those nights in SV studios can go up from 10 to 12! And in 2012, from 12 to 14, and in 2013, from 14 to 16 and finally in 2014, from 16 to 19! With studios, it may really be a looooong process. -- Suzanne

There are certain realities of the situation. As stated before, the points aren't even equal from year to year with variances in the number of weekdays and weekends in different seasons. There would have been over 47,000 additional points at SSR (excluding the THV's) available for 2008 over 2009 because of the variances and the fact that there was one additional day in the year.

Since you asked, the numbers I came up with for SSR was a change of about 9,000 points in a total of over 15,000,000. The percentage of change was 0.0623%. Of course, we don't really know how they take certain circumstanced into account, such as the calander variances and how do they figure what percentage of lock-offs are going to be booked as studio/1br's vs. 2br's. Overall I think the calculations were sufficient to show that there was no gross inbalance in the reallocation.

You want to get out completely? How come? You bought around the same time we did at BWV, there was a small group of us so happy to own there. I think HolidayRoad was another one? Did you have a bad experience? Just wondering, I was surprised by your post.
