2011 Planning - join me!

Which is annoying, but what can you do :headache: August is less than six months from my travel date (Jan '11, depending on what day the packages are released), so I'm just grateful that you don't need a reservation number to be able to use the online ADR service. I'm so paranoid about not getting two of our reservations.

We don't go until Sept. so we are still over a year out when we book. I would hate to be like you and only be 6 months away. That would be hard. Don't you need a reservation number to book the 180+10? I always wondered how people do that.

For those that are new, keep in mind that if you do book now, the official resort rates are not out yet. This means that you will have to book at whatever random price the computer spits out (for now) to be adjusted later. Warning...there will be "sticker shock" when you book this early!

For example, I just booked our room for Feb.'11 at Animal Kingdom Lodge. It was for a Pool View room which typically is $250 a night at that time of year. However, since the rates aren't out yet, the computer priced it at $450 a night. The CM assured me that when the rates come out around mid-August, my rate would then be adjusted accordingly. It won't happen automatically from my understanding. I will have to call Disney back and ask them to do so.

From what I understand, you need a reservation number to get the +10, but you can still book up to 180. I was actually playing with the system the other day and managed to find about six prime Le Cellier reservations in the first week of August, which is about six months away. August is still peak season and I was able to find those (plus a few 8am spots for CRT), so I'm pretty sure we'll be able to get our one reservation for January :rotfl:

But yeah, I think it's just the +10 that you need a reservation for. That's probably just so that they can accommodate the guests who stay off-site or who are locals. The only table service place I've eaten at was Crystal Palace, so I'm really really excited about it. My friends have no idea what they're in for popcorn::

:)We (DH, DD, SIL, 2DGDs, 1DGS) will be going down next March when the girls have spring break. Since we will be staying at our DVC (OKW), I will be making the reservations in April at the 11 mo. window. Love planning ahead and having it to look forward to!

We are going in the spring 2011 but have not decided when yet. With Easter being at the end of April i want to wait and see what it does to the crowd calendar for the month of April. We will go the last week of March or some time in April.

I am really bummed about not getting to go this year but we are having a baby which is worth the waiting. I cannot wait to go next year though!! We are going to fly and go for about 9-10 days!

We are almost 100% on for WDW in 2011. We're probably planning for April 17-28 (my husband's birthday is right in the middle so it will work out perfectly). It was incredibly hot when we were there this past Sept/Oct so hopefully it won't be as bad in mid-April!

We're planning for maybe the Contemporary, but I would be happy with around the same place in POFQ if we can't swing it. I'm excited already!

So glad to have found this thread! I thought I was the only crazy one planning a 2011 trip this early on!
I am going back next month with some girlfriends to run the Disney Princess half marathon, but it won't be the same without DH, DD and DS there!
DH and I want desparately to go back in 2011 (with DD and DS) and stay at the Poly, it's our dream to stay there! So we are scrimping and saving now, in hopes of being able to go back next April. Though we recently found out our April school vacation in week in 2011 falls into easter week! :scared1: So we might adjust the timing a bit and perhaps go in June after school gets out or during February vacation (if we can save the $$ by then). We just went in 2009 but I can't imagine going more than 2 years without taking the kids back, they already ask pretty much everyday when we're going back!

You can add us to the list....we already planned that we are going to go in May 2011 and will be staying at the BC. We are taking very close friends of ours who have never been (they have kids the same age as ours). Looks like we will be going from 5/11-5/17. This is actually our first time going this time of year and cannot wait :goodvibes I should make a countdown ticker to when we can book our vacations :rotfl:

Don't forget my fellow 2011 planners.....it will be the 40th anniversary of WDW! I hope they have a special celebration for it!

I'm so glad to see there are CRAZIES like me who have the foresight to plan for the 40th birthday of Disney World. my wife and i got back 5 months ago and we were planning our 2011 trip then. I hope they do something special, i had the honor of going with my parents on the opening day(granted I was 3 1/2 ) but it is still something I can say. growing up in Florida we went quite often but now living in Colorado it is a little harder to go but we try LOL:dance3:

count us in! i was hoping for this december, but its looking like Sept 2011 for us. think we are going to try the POP for the first time!! Love this thread! thank you!

I am also hoping they have a big celebration!

Got you added to the list! I started the thread to give me something to do while we wait for our trip. :rolleyes1

We are planning on going for two weeks in 2011!! Jan. 23 until Feb 5. We'll be there right after I turn 30, on my DH's 29th Birthday AND on our 9th anniversary! We're planning on staying at the Silver Lake Resort and also going to Universal for Harry Potter!! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

PS. Does everyone else already have their ADR's planned?? I do!!

Got you added to the list and yes we pretty much have our ADR's planned out also (subject to change of course).

PS. Does everyone else already have their ADR's planned?? I do!!

We are planning on the QS dining plan, but we're definitely going to go to 'Ohana! We went this last time and it was soooo good. We might pick up a couple others but haven't really decided which ones we'd do.

Does everyone else already have their ADR's planned?? I do!!

Yep :) We're doing DxDP, with a few Signature restaurants, so it made sense for us to decide which ones we wanted to go to so that when we can make the ADR's, we already knew what we wanted. :goodvibes I'm also an obsessive planner and have a color-coded spreadsheet.

Oh wow, no spreadsheets here... good for you! Mine are just in pencil in case they have to be moved around :) I'm mostly looking forward to Jiko. We are going there for our anniversary! The only other place we have done before is Le Cellier and the character breakfasts, of course. But the rest of them are ones we haven't tried yet. :goodvibes

Yep :) Because it's a computer based spreadsheet, I can cut and paste, delete and replace as much as I want. This is so not what it looked like to start with :rotfl: It'll likely look different by the time we actually go, too. :rolleyes1

We're not going to Jiko this time around. It was on the list and then we decided to do Artist Point instead, since my best friend's husband is an extremely picky eater. He won't even eat veggies :confused3

Hi everyone,

It feels good to see other people thinking like me. My DH thinks I am crazy and obsessed. I don't care I am enjoying myself and there are worse things I could do. I have always wanted to go during Christmas time but just couldn't justify the price and crowds. I decided to go down (Thanksgiving time) November 25, 2011. I have read that the decorations are up by then and it is cheaper. My DD will be in 5th grade, so I figure it will be the last time I can take her out of school for a couple of days. I would like to stay at POR in the Mansion section but I am waiting to see if they get an update by then. If not who knows where.
Happy Planning everybody!!!!!!::banana:

Yeah, people think I'm obsessed because I'm planning so far out. I am probably going the first week of April, my dd's spring break. I can't take the kids out of school so my choices are spring break, first week of June, or Christmas.
