People who boycott Universal because they can't fit into some of the rides will probably wish to boycott Cedar Point, too. Just a word to the wise.

Great reminder! The big coasters are not pooh friendly! I'm pushing the limits on the dragster!!

Where did you go to school? Both of my high school proms were held in a ballroom there.

I went to high school in Rocky River...Magnificat. But the proms were Lakewood High proms. I should clarify, it was like Frank's...CP happended first thing, bright and early Sunday morning.

It was back in the day of the Magnum (it was brand new!), Blue Streak and Demon Drop!!!

I love me some Cedar Point. We spend 2 days there every August to hopefully schedules will blend.

I'm glad to see there are so many people interested in a Cedar Point meet. It seems that the consensus is for August 2011. So, that is what we will plan for. The fall and winter months get crazy around here. Plus, we'll be gone for most of December (a little thing called PCC 2.0 and Christmas at WDW! :cool1: ). I will plan on posting more "solid" info and bouncing some ideas off y'all in January. Input will be greatly appreciated. :wizard:

I hope to see you next summer at Cedar Point! :woohoo:

Hi Jennifer,

Tell Bill I said Hi and that this looks like lots of fun.:thumbsup2

Hope to see you this December.

Mark

I voted for September but August will work too. I will keep an eye on the thread as details get settled.

I am hoping to make it to CP sometime this year before it closes.

I just noticed the name of this place is Cedar Point.

...and here I was thinking it was Cheddar Point. My tummy is going to be disappointed. :rolleyes1

Hello everyone!! It's been awhile since I've been on here..but when I seen this thread..I just had to post.

I worked at CP for almost 6months some years ago..and had a BLAST!!!! You meet some really awesome people there and it's like a mini Disney World..people from every country are there!!. Although the summer I worked..it seemed to be alot of Polish, Spanish, and either Hungarian or German workers there. They had a blast too!!

I used to know all kinds of secrets about the park and how to get in..without paying!! I look back on it now and the trouble we could've gotten in!! LOL:rotfl2:

But anyways, I live in Toledo and CP is only bout 45..1hr 15 mins from me..just depending on the traffic and when I'm going.

I will tell you this though: From my experience working there..it was ALWAYS best to go either on a Monday or Tuesday!! Those seem to be the best days to go. Wednesdays were ify. It could be light or it could be crowded. Thursdays were like Friday and Saturdays sometimes. Can be very busy!! Sundays aren't too bad..but they're like a Wednesday too. Can be ify!! Usually on Sundays is when everyone is heading back home because of work..school..or whatever and that's why Mondays and Tuesdays were the best days to go.

Idk what else it is you may want to know or need to know..but if you do..please feel free to ask away!!!:goodvibes

Hello - nice to see you posting again! I worked at Cedar Point, too, for 3 summers during college. However, I'm sure that was several decades before you worked there! :lmao:

We had an official DIS meet at CP in August 2003. We didn't stay onsite, but got rooms at the lovely (cough cough) Days Inn not too far away. Staying on-site is great but definitely pricey - unless you're there early or late in the season.

I would be interested in a Cedar Point Meet. August is a busy month for me at work, so depending on when it is will determine when and if I would be able to go. Early June is the best time for me.

It's in Ohio not Wisconsin! .... Of course, I'm not aware of alot of Cedar trees being in the area either. :teeth:

As long as we know well ahead of time....If it's early in Aug, will be DD, DS, and me. Later in month - DH, DS, and me. School starts early for DD. Of course if it's early, have time to recoup before Indy.

This sounds fun, I'm just up the road (kind of) in Ann Arbor and could potentially make it for a Cedar Point adventure! I used to go there at least once a year as a kid, with my entire swim team after the summer season ended... but I haven't been since the 1990's.

I'm not going to vote because I have no idea of my schedule, and I so rarely find time to post here lately that no one knows who I am, but I'll be watching to see how this shakes out. :)

This is random, but did anyone ever see the movie "Adventureland" with Kristen Stewart and Jesse Eisenberg? I know it's a far, far cry from Cedar Point but still, certain little parts of it made me think of Cedar Point. I liked that movie.

Thanks Nancy!!! It's nice to feel missed!!! LOL I've never stayed at a hotel there because we always just drove home. But..I'd be willing to stay there for a night or something;)

Jayme and I are game, as long as someone is willing to ride the coasters with me. Jayme doesn't like them. I'm trying to change it, but not going too well.

Is it sad that my first thought is what beer to bring?

Well my vote is that you bring Yuengling Beer. :banana:We cannot get it in Ohio and I stock the Jeep up with it everytime we go to PA.

Count me in I am 20 minutes from Cedar Point.

Two days is a good amount of time for the park. That way you don't have to run from ride to ride. They have sold two day two park (Soak City is there water park, separate admission required) for years and it gets you in both parks for two days for a reasonable amount.

They have done packages in the past where you stay on-site for two nights and get a package with two day admission plus a twilight ticket (like the preview ticket for Hershey).

There is an awesome Space museum somewhere in Ohio. Can't recall where exactly right now....and is Geauga Lake still open in some reincarnation?

There are 2 museums that have space items the US Air Force Museum in Dayton (about 3-4 hrs away) and the Neil Armstong Museum in Wapakoneta- we are hoping to go there this weeend while we are camping at Indian Lake. NASA in Brookpark (suburb of Cleveland) had a museum but was closed and the Apollo capsule was taken the Cleveland Science Museum. My husband is currently working on the sound tunnel in Plumbrook (NASA facuility about 10 minutes from Cedar Point) they are going to test the rocket there and then he is also helping to work on the largest bell platform (I think thats what he said it was called). It shakes the capsule to check for vibrations, etc... Both my brother in law (works at NASA Glenn- Brookpark, and his brother at NASA Plumbrook- Sandusky)are involved in various parts of the moon mission.
Sorry for getting of topic.

One side noteis that when we were at Dayton not too long ago a source told us that Dayton is almost certainly getting a shuttle. It will be piggybacked on a 747. I am definatly going to go see that fly in.

Geauga lake no long exists, the Big Dipper roller coater is on e-bay if you want to buy it for your backyard:rotfl2:

I work in downtown Dayton, and we're really hoping to get the space shuttle at the AF Museum. Dayton is really, really in need of something happy. Every time the news comes out with a list of bad things (crime, unemployment, etc.), it seems like Dayton is towards the top of the list. The space shuttle would finally be something to look forward to.

On a happier note, if you're into pizza, our favorite pizza place is across the street from the AF Museum on Airway Road - Joe's Pizzeria. Yummm!!! :thumbsup2
