2011 DDP - Not a definitive answer, but...

So I've had reason to contact WDW several times in the last few days for reservations and have talked to about 5 different CMs. Every last one of them were SHOCKED when I asked them about the rumors of dropping a dessert on the dining plan. One CM I asked about LeCellier going 2TS and also about the rumored changes to DDP. She told me that she'd not be at all surprised about LeCellier and that the rumor very likely was pretty solid, though she couldn't comment. But she said she'd be absolutely shocked if DDP were to drop the desert at TS restaurants. She said she could absolutely imagine them making some type of changes, at least in terms of pricing, but in her wildest imagination, she couldn't imagine them dropping the dessert and/or the appetizer.

Again, not an answer from any authority per se, but the level of shock in their voices couldn't be faked...

Well, It is nice to have some reassurance while anxiously await more definitive news! Thanks!

I would not put any stock in anything you are told by a WDW-DINE phone agent. They are usually either the last to know or they have no idea what is really going on.

Just this week there were several persons reporting that they were trying to book events for the food & wine festival and got people who didn't even know there was such a thing as a food & wine festival. Happens every year.

WOW.. Seriously.. Agents that don't know what food and Wine is? I am going to guess that maybe they got a trainning group.. They learn dinning first and are put on that line to make reservation and then onto the other stuff (trust me been through it) But you are right that the phone agents are usually the last to know about some thing but they usually have a trainning day on the changes of the packages each year.

Don't put too much of your faith or planning into that. I had one tell me Le cellier is not going to ever go to 2 TS (which I am 95% sure is the wrong answer;)).

Had another one tell me that the DP information for 2011 will not be released until late Sept although you should be able to book it in August. LOL

omg... we must have had the same person! i had a guy who sounded like he was about twelve years old, and he told me i'd be able to reserve the dining plan in august but his "best guess" as to when the prices would be out was october.

Here's the response I got:

Thank you for contacting us regarding the Walt Disney World® Resort. I appreciate the time you took to share your concerns about possible changes to the Disney Dining Plan. Please know that the 2011 Disney Dining Plan will include the same entitlements as the previous year. I hope your next visit is filled with many more special memories.

I don't see them changing it after sending out that kind of email to multiple people. Usually they respond by really telling you absolutely nothing, "but thaks for asking". If they are actually putting it in print in an email I certianly hope it is accurate, or they are going to have lots of upset people on their hands.

I understand where you are coming from, but I will have to tell you - when I was inquiring about the Pirate and Princess Party for summer 2009, I received an email telling me the tickets would go on sale April 1st. Several other people received the same email. Party dates were announced and then no tickets went on sale. As I am sure you know, the P&PPs were canceled.

So, when Disney states they reserve the right to make modifications, they are telling the truth!

I had emailed disney about the dining plan changing in 2011 and this is the email I got back:

haha just saw this! sorry for the re-post!

One of the first tour operators to announce the changes (removal of dessert etc) here in the UK has given us an update. On a UK forum they have posted the following:

"Disney US office have just advised us that the Disney Dining Plans for 2011 will now remain unchanged!

This means that any of you who have already booked with Complete Orlando for next year and have Disney Dining plans included (free or paid for) will now receive the same inclusions as 2010!

Which means desserts and more will now be included!

Our website will be updated in due course!

Happy booking! "

they have since updated their website to state:

"GREAT NEWS!
2011 Dining Plans are now UNCHANGED from 2010!
(for all existing bookings & new bookings)"

It's definitely looking good! :woohoo:

No metion of pricing? :confused3

It won't be applicable since this was quoted from a UK tour operator and the price structure does not necessarily reflect the US prices. Price increases in the UK do not usually happen at the same time as they do in the US as they are adjusted, with a delay, through the year based on exhange rates so they never work out equal by converting currency at any given time of the year.

Hopefully they will announce in the next day or two and rid us of all the suspense. :lmao:
