I purchased 2011 Socal passes from Costco. Everything I had read before I bought them said I had until jan 3 2012 to use them for the first time. When I received them, I noticed the back said Dec 31.

We are not getting to California until the 31st and cannot get to a park until Jan 1. I called Citypass immediately and they said it should be okay and we will be able to use them as its so close to expiration.

I am starting to panic that I am going to have isues when I try to get into the Zoo on the 1st. Has anyone ever used a Citypass ticked that had JUST expired?

Thanks!
Jess

I would call them back and get the full name and phone number of a person that tells you there will be "no problem".

For added measure, you might want to email them and print out their reply if they say they will still be valid. The more you can arm yourself with, the better! I think it would be especially important at the zoo because as of Jan. 1st, the zoo is no longer participating in the CityPass program.

thanks for the advise. I just sent them an email. Hopefully their response will give me some piece of mind!

I have been researching the city pass option for our trip next year. If you go to the Southern Cal city pass website you can add the zoo for an additional amount. It just isn't being offered as one of the staple attractions like it was on the 2011 pass.

Hi there,
Let me look into this and get back to you with specifics to make sure it will be accepted, especially at the zoo.
Thanks!

Thanks so much - that would be awesome. I emailed Citypass cusotmer service but have not gotten a response yet :)

No problem. The answer is that if you already have your cards, yes, the attractions will treat all cards between Dec. 31 and Jan. 13 as though they were activated on Dec. 31 - a little bonus! (However, please be aware that this may NOT be the case next year.) So if you have your cards, you'll be fine using them through Jan. 13.

However, if you have a voucher and do not have the cards in hand yet, technically you would not be able to redeem the voucher after Dec. 31. If this is the case, can you let me know asap?

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much!!! Costco mailed my the actual cards for I think I should be okay. Can you PM me your name & number in case I run into trouble?

Thanks again for easing my mind!

Jess
