Aug. 7 - Pirate

The only problem I see with Marltonmom'spirates plan is no wifi, how will you keep up with the thread when all the mattresses to be tested are being tested by actual paying guests?- do the housekeeping closets have dial up connections? Maybe you can learn to tether your cell phones (whatever that means.)

I'm not CL. Being a bit of a control diva, I make my own ADRs. We are also west coast and never really 'get' that y'all are in a different 'earlier' time zone and no way are we up and in search of 'free' breakfast on vacation @ what, for us, is 5 or 6 am (we don't do am rope drop either:snail:.) We like eating @ Disney restaurants and this time are doing deluxe dinning, I suspect we won't go hungry.
Also I'm garden view - I can't quite wrap my head around paying so much more for 'water view' to possibly end up looking @ the quiet pool - I mean, I can look out my own window and see my pool anytime I want. Of course if that quiet pool view came with patrons in that lime green manquini it might be worth the price for entertainment value alone.

Personally I was planning on running an (Loooooong) extension cord from the free interweb that they have at the BC Villas for DVC members. However I do see your point about no web access in the mousekeeping closets. I think we will just have to snail mail our dispatches to Teena so we can keep current. It's not like this thread moves fast or anything so we can just catch up when the thundering herds check out.

That Marlton Mom.... ALWAYS thinking!!

As for the "quiet" pool, it's mankini central from what I've heard. That's why they charge extra for that 'view'. Do you think anybody in their right mind would pay all that money just to look at a chlorinated rectangle? I think not!!

I also think the green manquini might be a great way to control vacation eating. I imagine I might lose my appetite just a but if I had to look at that too long! :rotfl2:

Here's a schedule. It's wierd because we're driving down this time.

7/12 - LEAVE JERSEY!!!!!!! Drive straight through (because we're crazy)
7/13 - Arrive Orlando approximately 3:00 pm - check into Buena Vista
Palace and Spa. Have our traditional RFC at DTD 1st night dinner.
7/14-7/16 - Check into the Poly. First time staying cl at the Poly. These
two days have a dual purpose. One we want to relax from the
drive so we have rented a cabana the second day. Two we are
on a mission to try to be the Family that opens MK. We will be
at MK at the crack of dawn on 7/15 so wish us luck!
7/16-7/31 - The plan is to check into BC early - around 7:30 or 8:00 so we
can make it to EPCOT by rope drop.
7/21-8/04 - We will drive to Hilton Head and just RELAX!!!!!

We will definitely have to make plans to meet up!!!

Wow! That's an awesome schedule! I do wish you luck on being the Family that opens MK! The cabana sounds amazing too! You and your family are going to have a blast! We will be checking in a little later then you. We have no plans for the day we arrive. I know we will be tired from our drive (we're crazy too - drive straight through anywhere between 14 -15 hours, ugh), so I'm sure we will be taking advantage of the lounge that evening! Would love to meet up!

Oh yes!!! At the BC, we have a chocolate and gingerbread working carousel in the middle of the lobby along with the normal holiday decorations. At the YC, there is a working train set up in the lobby. And you can walk around the lake and stop in and see the Boardwalk's decorations too. And of course, you get to walk into Epcot whenever you want and hear the different Christmas stories at all the countries.

Thank you for the info. One more question if I could, we always request a king size bed when we stay at the BC, we are thinking about the YC for christmas. This would be our first visit to the YC, but I have some concerns when I read that you could possible be given a king size room with a murphy bed. Should we stay with the BC to avoid this?:confused3

I'm not totally sure about the YC but all the murphy beds were removed from the BC and I assume they were removed from the YC when they had their rehab too. I'll try to remember to ask when I work tomorrow.

Thank you, I'll be looking for your reply. So in your humble opinion,
BC or YC for Christmas?:santa:

Hey, you know me, I'm totally a BC woman!!! But if you have a train person in your travel party, you may want to do YC.

I'm hoping to be able to set up a "Mini Dis Meet" like we had last year.
If you look at page 1 you'll see a picture of it. Dee (Natebenma) wasn't there for our meet, she was there a few weeks earlier, but she was there in spirit with the "Flat Dee". She cracked me up!

Where in PA are you from? I see you city listed, but I don't know where that is near. We are just east of Pittsburgh. We are driving in August, unless I give in like last year and get air tickets.;)

I'll be back in Orlando on 7/21 and will be at work that following Sunday and Monday (7/24 and 7/25) so if you have it at 6 PM I could be there too.

Um excuse me missy! I have the Pirate arriving on the 21st! We may not know Jeanne's due date but you know how those first borns hang on to the ribs for dear life in an effort to delay being born!

You tell that Jeanne that she is just going to have to keep her legs crossed until the 21st!

Nope. The 20th, I tell you, the 20th!

We are driving, too- from Erie,PA. On the way down we need to do a detour to Gettysburg, PA to drop our dog off at my in-laws. Then from there we drive on I-95 to Santee, SC, where we overnight. Then it's a little less than a 6 hour drive to Orlando.

Unfortunately, on the way back we are driving all the way back to Erie in one day. My DS10 won a math competition and the regional competition was scheduled for our last travel day. I hate to break his heart by missing it. Who knows when we will get back to pick up our dog!

I was thinking of flying home with him and letting DH drive back with DD7 and DS4. DH didn't want any parts of that!

I'm from Wexford area :) I too threatened too drive but lucked out on the SW chase card promo and all worked out well. Airfare would have been insane this year otherwise....wouldn't have done it...

We booked flights in January with Spirit Air out of Atlantic City NJ. Round trip for the 3 of us with all fees, including baggage was $666. (nice number huh!) I knew that airfares would be going up due to oil prices so I was hot to get those flights booked when we booked our trip back in January.

For a while there I liked to torture myself and look for a better deal on air fare. Now, not so much!

For those of you in the area I highly recommend Atlantic City airport. Right now they offer flights on Spirit airlines and the BC/YC thread's dreaded Air Tran airlines. The last time we came down we flew Air Tran with no problems.

We like A.C. because the parking is cheaper, the staff are friendlier, and Homeland security seems just that much nicer. Small definitely has it's advantages!

Another fun fact about Atlantic City Airport is it is also an abort landing site for the Space Shuttle.

Hey everyone,

I have a question, but don't know if it has already been asked or not. We will be staying at the Beach Club Villas for the first time over Memorial Day weekend. We will have our "at that time" 11 month old daughter with us. We are planning on going to Stormalong Bay and are wondering if we can take her into the pool area. I know they have an ifant pool, but will I be able to take her into the Kiddie Pool area or anywhere else. Thanks a bunch!

Hi caralyn!

When our boys and my niece were that age, they loved to play in the sand! If your daughter does, she might enjoy the zero depth entry area (includes sand!) Here are a couple photos of the zero depth area and the little pool you referenced in your post:

Can't really see the zero depth in the photo, but it's on the other side of that rock.
