Apologies. I will try to get into the habit of checking the first page or two before posting any new questions.

Absolutely no apologies necessary! I love that you responded with a little musical theatre :)

I suppose we should expect to answer a few questions on this thread in between the chit-chat.

I'm doing great and anxious for 4/25 to get here and get the radiation going!!

I'm so glad for you that the genetic test came back negative!!!

Have to say the first surgeon I went to said the same thing ... the lumpectomy was going to leave one-third of my breast gone and it would look really really bad. However, the second surgeon at the Mayo said, "not with me doing the operation" and after two surgeries (the one margin came back not clean), all there is is an incision ... no indention or anything. It's absolutely amazing. Make sure you get that second opinion on that part of it too. I'm still in shock that two surgeons can come up with such different results.

Good luck and keep us posted. We're all behind you and praying for you and sending you loads of pixie dust!

Thanks Teena...I am glad your doing better.
Unfortunately, both Dr's have said it is too big to do a lumpectomy. My 2nd opinion said he could but it just wouldn't look right and would be hard to match up the other side in the future. The lump is very big...10cm.
It is so true that 2 people can come up with two different DX. THe first Dr's office isn't even worried about the lymph node that is enlarged:scared1:At least look into it.
Warm wishes from up here in Boston to all of my DIS (more specifically my YC/BC friends) friends dealing with health issues. I will keep all of you in my thoughts and prayers.

One of my first jobs ever was as a desk person on the inpatient Oncology floor at Mass General Hospital. One of the things I always remember from my time there was that whenever we would send around a card for one of the patients, one of the physician's, who was world renowned in his field would always sign the cards, "Keep fighting the good fight!". I always thought that was such a simple, heartfelt way to tell folks to keep figthing through all that was coming their way. Kinda of sweet and poignant at the same time.

So to all my DIS friends going through health related issues I say to you, "FIGHT THE GOOD FIGHT!!".

Jay

Thanks Jay that is so true...I love it!

Hi doccoc - thanks for the updates - you're in our thoughts and prayers.

Just thought would give a quick update...
Genetic test came back Negative!!!:banana::cheer2:
Meeting with Plastic Surgeons about getting mastectomy...lump is way too big to have lumpectomy look good
Getting another biopsy on Monday on a lymph node that is enlarged.:sad1:

So happy to hear the news doccoc!!

Thanks so much for the advice ! We are late sleepers esp on vacation LOL.

So it seems the parks @ night will be our best bet :) Thanks again, and I'm actually getting really excited for our summer trip

Hi Polyluvr! We went Aug 6-15 last year and had a GREAT time! It was really really hot, but follow that advice and you will have fun. Plus the parks are open late so you can spend more afternoon time at resort, SAB or in a nice A/C restaurant for a leisurely afternoon meal...then go back to the parks at night.

I do remember my son (19 at the time) saying 'Mom, I don't really think I want to come back here at this time of year.' That was after we decided to walk to DHS (instead of wait for the boat which would have been the way to go at that time of day) at around 10 a.m. to meet my DH and DD who were already there. We were drenched and cooled off in some of the shops for a bit. We all ate an early lunch at Prime Time (by then he was feeling much better!) and then he went back to BC and SAB! I would still go back at that time.

You will have a great time!

Kerry

If you are going for the F&G festival, then definately the BC/YC is for you and since you are there on your own, my personal choice would be the "Dark Side" where things are just a little more relaxed and quiet. But then, you have already acknowledged that we are biased here with our opinions.

Personally, I would pick the YC if I was staying by myself. I love WL, but it does have areas where, I don't know, they feel a bit spooky at night if you're walking alone. (That could be the city girl in me, trees often seem to have nefarious intentions!:lmao:)

Also, you'll be right next to Epcot, the show, and lots of little shops, etc. YC over BC just because it seems to skew a little more to those travelling w/o kids. Either way you should have a great time!:goodvibes

I'm going alone this year too and have opted for BC - I love the Epcot resort area, I've stayed at BWI a few times now and wanted to return to the YC/BC (stayed at YC before), so chose the BC as it's the only I haven't stayed at, but mainly due to it's decor, I love it over the YC's new decor. I enjoyed my stay at the YC but I did find it a little too quiet for my liking (obviously just personal choice), I know the BC appears more popular with families and the lobby can get a bit hectic at times but I'm not planning on spending too much time in the lobby ;)

Thanks everyone for your thoughts :goodvibes

I booked the YC for my stay as I want to leisurely enjoy the F&G show and the ease of access was impossible to resist. Location, location, location :yay: I tried for the BC but the category I wanted wasn't available.... So I added a close to Epcot request.

Can't wait only a few days to go :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hee hee! Ok, so I never unsubscribed to this thread-- just couldn't bring myself to do it. When I got the email updates on this thread I was reminded what Teena said, to keep checking online for resort availability with the discount.......

So I kept thinking how hot June is & how crowded the Poly pool can get.... and TODAY there was availability at BC CL GV!!! So I switched!!:banana::banana: ('Cause I hear bananas like to dance in 3's.) I also dropped DxDP in favor of the regular, figuring if I'm staying CL, I probably didn't need the gazillion breakfast ADRs.

Tomorrow I'll sit down w/ DH & figure out which ADRs to keep and about a dozen to whack. Oh after I changed the reservation, I checked online again no more availability for CL GV, apparently there was exactly 1 room & I snagged it. So glad I called tonight!

So, for the June list I am staying BC CL GV June 16th to 25th -- first ever CL stay.

Congrats!!!   Bananas should always dance in threes!! :rotfl: You definitely made the right choice for dropping the DxDP for the DDP. Club Level provides you with all that extra food. Enjoy your first Club Level stay!!! :cool1: We did CL at the YC in January and LOVED it!!! :woohoo: Have a magical time!! :wizard: BTW, you are going to Disney on my birthday! So extra pixie dust for you!! pixiedust:

Thanks so much for the reply :) We are just going to center this trip around the pool~ We all really LOVE SAB !!! I love the Poly, but that pool gets so crowded~ and my DS's love hot tubs ;)
We'll just take it really easy during the days and hit all the EMH's at night.
I plan on really exploring the BC and doing a lot more resort activities this time around~ no park commandos this time :rotfl:

Yeah, I got my hand slapped for asking a question too. Won't make that mistake again.

I felt the need to address this comment, although I probably shouldn't. I've stayed at YC once (for a work conference) and BCV once and have no immediate plans to stay at either in the near future. And yet I visit this thread regularly because of the kind people here.

Dee (natebenma) literally spends hours making sure that the information at the very beginning of the thread is accurate and up-to-date. When she refers someone back to the beginning of the thread, it's not meant to be a slap on the wrist. Rather she's trying to let everyone know that there is a lot of good information there and it's all as current as humanly possible. I don't know if other resort threads have the information at the beginning updated regularly or not. In this thread it is. I'm not a BC/YC expert by any stretch of the imagination but I know that nobody here minds answering questions. Dee only wants people to know that there are a lot of questions that can be answered immediately (rather than waiting for someone to reply) by checking out the first few posts.

Dee is truly one of the kindest and most thoughtful people I've met recently (and I've never met her). She remembered when my mother was having a cardiac cath and sent a very nice email that day to wish her well. She spends lots of time making sure questions are answered and information is updated.

I'm sorry that you felt rebuffed when you asked a question. That is certainly NOT the impression that anyone on this thread wants to give. I think the regulars here (and I'm not sure I even count as that!) are super generous with their time and information. I ran my 1st 1/2 marathon in January and even though we chose Poly over BC/YC, the folks here were kind enough to list me as one of the runners and wish me luck. This really, truly is an inclusive group! And the collective knowledge about Disney in general (including other resorts!) is amazing!!!

I think you made the right decison! Nothing beats SAB in the summer.
Have a wonderful trip!

I have to agree with everything Amanda said. This thread has some of the most thoughtful and caring Dissers around. Dee is definitely at the top of the list.

Last year when my dd broke her leg and we had so much trouble changing our trip this thread helped me keep my sanity!

This year my mom's health has taken a serious decline and there isn't a day that goes by that someone doesn't ask how she is doing or post that they are keeping us in their thoughts and prayers.

Dee works really hard to keep the 1st page of the thread with the most accurate up-to-date information. There are so many posters who help her.
What other thread can you ask for pictures of items in the BC Marketplace and have a super spy (thanks PixarMom) taking pictures of all the candy items!

Amanda, katesdad and Robyn- thank you all for the kind words. I appreciate it! :grouphug:

I know we get very personal, chatty and off-topic on this thread, but hopefully nobody is intimidated about asking a question or trying to get information.

Most of the time questions are answered quickly but sometimes a question goes unanswered- either a question is missed or possibly there is nobody reading who knows the answer. Feel free to bump up the question after a day or two.

I am by no stretch of the imagination a Beach or Yacht Club expert. I have spent two (WONDERFFUL) weeks at the Beach Club, but that's it! I have only been in the Yacht Club for dinner at Captain's Grille and I have never stepped foot in the villas- so I rely on all of you experts to help me gather the information to help other guests.

I think that is probably enough on this topic.

Please forgive me.... I honestly didn't mean to come across as being unappreciative for the information on this board. I was trying to make a joke (very poorly, i might add) at myself for not paying attention to page 1. You guys have every right to slap my wrist for not going back to read it. That was the point I was trying to make. I deeply regret my comment and I will try to refrain from making any more stupid jokes since i'm not very good at it.

You all are extremely kind and helpful to each other and even cheered me up on a day when I was having a bad day with my mom (remember the red convertiable). I wish only the best for each and every one of you! Again, please except my apology.

Great plan! I might be getting your room at BC CL GV, as I check in on June 25th! Enjoy your vacation!
