Everyone who isn't feeling good this week - I hope you are feeling better and get well soon!
I've been battling an upper respiratory infection.. Thank god for cough syrup with codeine or else I'd never get any sleep!!

Hi back! :drive::wave2: My house is 2 blocks away from that Rt.73 that you were on to get to Sahara Sam's. You were so close you could have hit that wild turkey on the way down!

Hopefully you had a great fund raiser at Sam's. They have a habit of over selling their capacity during busy times and it can quickly turn into "wait in long lines for EVERYTHING fiasco".

I hope Mom is doing better today. It may take awhile until she pops back up from her latest round of "crappy health roulette" so keep the faith and be patient. After all she's been through it will probably be small steps forward rather than leaps and bounds. Stay strong and know that these small steps will all add up eventually for a positive outcome!

Marlton Mom

Thanks - today was the first day where I thought she looked a little better, and felt a little better. Keeping my fingers crossed.

We had a good fundraiser at Sahara Sam's, but we had an even better one at CoCo Keys. Of course my kids like CoCo Keys because we stay all night at the Marriott. One thing I did this time at Sahara Sam's was rent a cabana. Definitely worth it!

Marlton Mom your stories crack me up:rotfl2:

Robyn glad your mom looks better...hope she continues on the mend!

Waiting so patiently for summer discounts...i have talked DH into CL this summer at BC...ready to book! Not sure if I should book before discounts and then see if one can be applied if and when they are released....any advise?

He was in my yard the day before Thanksgiving.

I thought I saw him wearing a dog collar with a tag that had New York State on it as a return address!

New Jersey is calling! They want to know if you want your turkey back!!!

To those arriving with us on Sat. Here is hoping the illnesses leave your homes. Yes there is a little rain scheduled for next week but we should have plenty of sunshine... Just pack those ponchos :). Can't wait until Sat!!! 3 more sleeps:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hi Amanda. Great to "see" you!!!! I'm doing pretty good. I see you're also venturing away from POFQ in occasion. LOL It's to bad our trips don't like up. I'd love to have our girls meet. I'm still kicking myself for not getting pictures of us together at RD. How have you been doing?

You know, I was thinking the same thing this morning, that I really should have gotten a picture of us that morning. I also would love for our girls to meet. I'm thinking of doing POFQ for Christmas again this year, but this time with my oldest daughter. The October trip is just for a quick weekend.

I'm doing great--busy. I'm ready for summer vacation!

This our first trip staying on Disney property. I'm booked at bcv in a studio. Should I change to YC or BC standard room? Not sure if the bcv are too isolated. We will have our 2yr old.

Thanks,

Bob

Bob, welcome to the DIS and the fastest moving and most informative thread on the board. Don't know the answer to your question about patio or balcony but I can tell you that you don't need to move to BC or YC to be close to anything. It's one resort, three buildings and everything is close, expecially the IG leading into Epcot WS.

I bet you are ready for summer vacation. I don't work in a school and I'm ready.

Right now I'm not expecting to take a Christmas trip for this year, but of course you never know. I only have so much vacation time left this year so we'll have to wait and see. A mother daughter trip sounds SO wonderful!!!

I'm so impressed with you taking up running. I'm so lazy. LOL

As for the discount, have you tried calling Disney reservations and asking what kind of discounts they can give you?

I called and originally asked if I had a pin code. My heart sank when she said no. Then I started talking about how we were going and the Sheraton Vistana Villages, which was where we stayed before, were offering a rate of $85 a night and My family wanted to go to Harry Potter but I wanted to go to Disney, Blah, Blah Blah!!! I told her I wanted to stay at the Beach Club and book the package thingy with deluxe dining but my family was against it and wanted to do Universal. The agent then said that she could give me a 35% off room rate since we were doing the magic your way package and from that point it was all she wrote! I booked then and there since I knew my dates/prices etc.

I priced out the trip ahead of time and I knew that we would really need that 35% off of room rate if we were going to make this happen...

So the moral of this story is call, tell them you are interested in staying at ______ for this date ______ and that X hotel is offering this _____ deal and can they help you out.

Try it and see how far you get. If it doesn't work out, call back next week with the same script and see if things have changed!

Definitely know your pricing ahead of time for each of the room categories at the Disney Hotel that you want to stay at. That way if they say we have no standard rooms but we can give you a XX% discount on... lets say club level standard view you will have the numbers right there on a piece of paper and you can do the calculations quickly and tell right away if that offer is in your budget.

I approached the whole thing like I was buying a car, and I priced out each part of the package, Hotel, park tickets, dining etc. That way when they said for instance "I can give you a discount on dining only", I knew how much I was saving over regular rates.

This whole thing really is like buying a car if you are doing it the savvy way.

Definitely call and chat with one of those representatives at Disney that are just standing by, waiting for YOU to call!!

Hopefully you won't be unlucky and one of those "turkeys" will answer the phone! ;)

Good luck!

~ MM

From the AllEars Newsletter:

As of March 21 at noon, the boat dock at the Yacht and Beach club is non-operational. We were told by the Friendship boat drivers that it will be fixed by March 29. We were not able to confirm this information.

When I worked on Monday, I was told it would be running by this Saturday if everything went according to schedule.

Can anyone tell me where the garden view rooms are at the YC that have the daybeds there are 5 of us, I never been there before but have stayed at BC. thanks

I know I have come to terms with it possibly not being running while we are there, but if if if it could open by Monday the 28th, that would really work well with our park plans

Thanks for all the advice on calling reservations to add my sons friend to the reservation... he gets free dinning too, I didn't think it was available to more then the four of us. He is so excited to be going especially after the tragedy of loosing his Dad and brother in last year. I love the look on peoples face when they experience Walt Disney World for the first time... my husband, 6'4, cried when we checked into AKL... the lobby took his breath away. Anyway...
I have another question for the experts...
We are going to be in Orlando a few days before we check into BC, staying at a relatives house, because after all the years of going to WDW we are finally taking the kiddos to Universal to see Harry Potter, they are HUDGE HP fans. My question is can I get my park tickets early? We are booked for a five day hopper and the fifth day we are checking out at 6:30a.m. and will not be able to use that day at the park so its a complete waist of money for us. Since we are in Orlando can we pick up our tickets the day before we check in so we can use the fifth day as our first? I hope I am explaining myself right... I did call reservations and they told me I would have to call the resort. I know how busy they are with people in front of them, never-mind having to answer my question that is months away from staying, I thought you all may have the answer for me. Thanks in advance:)

Others will probably confirm or correct me, but I do feel pretty positive that you wouldn't be able to get your Disney tickets early...you need to be a checked in guest at the resort for them to issue you the tickets (since you got a package, correct?). If you were paying for everything separate, then you could buy your tickets anywhere and use them over the course of your stay.

Does anyone know how difficult is it to get a patio room on the first floor by the quiet pool? I'm not even sure how many there are, and if people that book a water room usually want those as a first choice or not?
