Good question! We booked gv cl for August, and we're also a family of 5. I didn't put any requests on our reservation, but I'm just curious about the different configurations/views/balcony options.

Like I said earlier, there are 9 club level garden view rooms at the BC. I'll get the balcony numbers and the daybed numbers ASAP but I can tell you that none of them have king beds.

I don't have a definitive answer for you- I think we checked in bags around 7 am the past two years we were at BC. We had 8 AM ME bus pickup. I don't know what time the desk actually opens.

I think I have heard that the desk closes, PROMPTLY, at 1 PM, but hopefully someone else can confirm this information.

5 AM to 1 PM and they close exactly at 1 PM!

5 more sleeps!! We arrive Sat around 4 after a grocery stop to stock up for the week!!! Can't wait to get to BCV....

Can anyone verify for me that they have marshmallows at the campfire... I heard they are not selling s'more kits anymore so I am packing my own supplies but want to make sure I don't have to pack the marshmallows.

Thanks everyone & Teena, I hope to see you on Sunday!!

As of last week when I walked by, yep, they were roasting marshmallows!

Hi guys - just checking in. My mom came through the surgery and we are taking it day by day. I really, really appreciate all the prayers and well wishes.

Teena - thanks so much! Now remember BC not POP!

Wonders10 - Now each family is different but I can tell you based on our experience that CL is definitely worth it. We will be there for 17 nights in July and only booked 4 breakfasts. We really like the breakfast selection in the lounge, the kids love being able to grab a soda and cookies in the afternoon, and I'm definitely hooked on the homemade chips and dip and the yogurt covered pretzels!

Evening appetizers are great for us because then we wait to have dinner until around 7 or 7:30. DH definitely utilizes the wine and beer and of course the kids love to grab a dessert on their way back to the room.

BC IPO was extremely helpful to us last year when my dd broke her leg and we had to postpone our trip by two weeks. They went above and beyond and rebooked all our dining reservations. That was a God send.

We used to stay YC Waterview room and I could kick myself for all the years we paid almost as much as a CL room without the benefits. We had "pixie dust" one year and were upgraded to cl. Of course now we can't imagine staying non cl!

Long time lurker here! We just switched from POR to the Beach Club and will be there May 29 to June 6! This trip is extra special as it is our son's Wish Trip from the Sunshine Foundation of Canada and we will also be celebrating his 9th birthday. I am looking forward to reading along and getting to know everyone!!

Welcome to the YC/BC thread. You won't find a more informative thread and you won't find a nicer group of posters.

Thanks.

So that would mean if your flight out was later than 4pm, you wouldn't be able to use RAC, correct? I heard you can only check bags with RAC within 3 hours of your flight time - which seemed odd to me sine since DME usually picks you up at that 3hr mark.

You can check in your bags at 5 AM and leave at 5 PM ... they just won't take your bags if your flight is within 3 hours.

Uh oh there is only one CL SV king? I too am hoping we get that room for our May trip. It doesn't sound like the odds are not very good though. :rotfl:

Yes, there is only one standard view club level room with a king bed in it. There are only 38 rooms (standard view club level) to start with.

I love this thread and the people subscribed to it.

I just want to say that last summer when I was trying to determine whether or not I should go ahead and go on my vacation planned for August after my father was diagnosed with lung cancer, I received so much support from my YC/BC family that I decided to go ahead and celebrate my DS10 birthday at WDW. My father then passed away two days before Christmas, we buried him on Dec. 28 and after returning home the next day I was sitting around and picked up the computer and logged on to the Disboards. Fifteen minutes later I had a trip booked for the next day through Jan 2.

Some people would think that was odd, but I found comfort in it. My DH, DS22, DS10 and myself spent New Year's night at California Grill; bought an expensive bottle of champagne and toasted the life of my dear father. It was a moment I will cherish in the middle of a very bad time.

My warmest wishes go out to those who are facing obstacles and hurdles in their lives right now. We are here. Love you all!

Nettie
First, my sincere condolences. Now, I totally do NOT think it odd that you book a trip the next day. Everyone has their own way of dealing with hurt/loneliness, mourning, etc.. And what a wonderful tribute to your father. A believe a parent would want their children rejoicing life and remembering good times rather than sit and mope and mourn. Kudos to you and your family. :grouphug:

Over on the club level thread, someone posted that the lagoon view CL rooms at BC don't have daybeds! Does anyone know if this is a true statement? I see that Teena is going to investigate how many garden view CL rooms have daybeds -- is it possible to take a look at the lagoon view rooms too? I'm sorry to ask, but we really rely on having a daybed in our room. Most important is a full balcony, which I have noted on our reservation, but now I'm thinking I should email IPO and get a 2nd request of a daybed too (if any lagoon CL rooms have them...). Thanks so much to anyone who might be able to help. :goodvibes

If we book cl gv as a party of 5, would we have 2 queen beds & a daybed?

As long as the five people in the party are ages 3 and over and Disney has not oversold that category (like the airlines), you will get a room with two queens and a daybed. If we are oversold in five sleepers in the category you booked, they will have to give you a room that fits a rollaway and they will have a rollaway delivered. If you are not happy with the rollaway (some people think they are more comfortable than a daybed so check it out before you decide you don't like it), then talk to a manager and let them know you are not happy!

Good luck! From what I understand hardly any lv cl rooms have daybeds. That is why they won't allow a family of 5 to book a lv cl room.

I will find out for you. However, keep in mind, if you don't have five people in your party, there's a good chance even if you request one, you won't get the daybed since they must go to the people that have five in the party.

I do know that over on the YC side there are lagoon view CL rooms with day beds. You are still not allowed to book more than 4 in those rooms but there are rooms with day beds because we have had them.

This is true and it was also true for the BC. There were some lagoon/water view CL rooms with daybeds at the BC but you could not book them because there were not enough of them - same as YC. However, with the new categories, it has changed everything. So, how many there are and whether you can book them if you have five people in your party, I don't know. I can get the numbers for you but I don't know if you can book them or not. I'll attempt to get that information too.

Hi bluejasmine!

CR fan already addressed your questions, but I just wanted to add our favorite fun way from BC to MK and back - the monorail!

It may not be the fastest route and it won't work if you don't have park hoppers, when you want to get to MK before Epcot opens or when you leave MK after Epcot closes. Under those circumstances, the only Disney transportation is the bus. I know that Dee (natebenma) has additional information from her family's races, so she can comment on the timing.

If you have park hoppers and you're going to MK after Epcot opens or coming back before Epcot closes, the monorail is a fun alternative! From BC to MK, we walk through the Epcot International Gateway, grab a snack (or a slushie in France), maybe do a Kim Possible mission and make our way to the monorail. And sometimes we just walk straight through. From MK to BC, if MK closes before Epcot (especially when Epcot has evening EMH) we love taking the monorail. We can catch Illuminations, grab a dessert or snack and walk right out the International Gateway to our BC room. Again, it may not be the fastest but it's more festive than the bus!

When we go to the MK in the morning, we always use the bus (15 minute ride plus any wait for the bus), but we almost always come back to the BC via the monorail to EPCOT. After all, the monorail IS a ride! We will go onto Space Ship Earth and whatever else strikes our fancy. If it is around meal time, a visit to Sunshine Seasons or one of the World Showcase countries will be one of our stops. And if we plan on heading back to EPCOT later in the day, we pull a FP to use later.

No, it is not the most efficicient way to return to the Beach Club, but my family finds it to be very enjoyable!

The only time we take the bus back to the BC is if we are rushing there to spend some time at the pool.

Welcome to the YC/BC thread. You won't find a more informative thread and you won't find a nicer group of posters.

...unless, of course, you come on and question insensitive remarks and then respond and try to defend yourself. Things will get uncomfortable then, LOL.

No one will ask you when you are coming down to visit BC/YC or even thank you when you offer your heartfelt support and assistance during their difficult time by sharing your own experience.

Not surprising, but very disappointing...thanks for reminding me why I prefer men over women. Us strong women are scary!

Looking forward to seeing some of you at SAB in August. I'll be the crazy b**ch with the perfect rack, compliments of BC and Tamoxifen.

Have a great day!:scared1:

I'm so sorry for your loss Nettie, and I also completely understand your thought process. My father passed away this January at 55, on his birthday. My DH and I had been discussing a trip to Disney before that, but a few weeks after, I knew it was what we had to do and booked the trip. I grew up at Disney World with my Father, he brought us there almost every year when I was a kid. To honor him, we're eating dinner at his favorite Epcot restaurant (San Angel) the first night we get there. It will be bittersweet because we had spoken about the whole family making a trip once more which will never happen, but he will be there in our hearts.

I agree that this board is an amazing family.... you all offer me inspiration every day, and I'm so glad I stumbled across you all months ago!

Blessings to you all,
Jen
