Okay this stinks. Please please, if anyone is there and knows that it is or will be by Saturday, please share! This is one of the main reasons I switched resorts! Of course, we can walk to Epcot but its nice to know if its hot and we are tired we can do the boat.

It is not done as of today and as far as I know not scheduled to be completed until next weekend. One of the managers today said it may be the end of the month. However, if you are staying at the BC, the distance from the lobby of the BC to the entrance of the International Gateway is shorter than the distance to the boat dock and then the boat doesn't take you into Epcot, it drops you off before the entrance. And most people that walk back from Epcot, enter the BC by the back door by room 1501 and that usually cuts even more steps off. You are not saving any time for sure and it's a shorter distance walking than using the boat even if the dock were open. Also, the bus stop to get the bus to HS is a shorter distance away from the lobby of the BC than the distance to the boat dock so by taking a bus to HS, you'll be saving steps also.

After trying to figure out where to stay, AKL, BCV or BC, and asking about king beds, we are going to book BC for August, and who knows maybe we will luck out and get a king as in the past.:)
Standard view & Garden view are not available for our dates on the end of summer rates, so now either water view or splurge for club level? We have never done cl before, but for $282 for the week to upgrade, we just might.

For a week, I'd jump on that!!!!!!!!

Quick question. We are moving over to BC club level in the morning (at universal right now). I'm sure our room won't be ready when we head over around 8-8:30. However can we still take advantage of our staying Club level and grab breakfast in the club lounge before we head out to the park?? Thanks guys!!

Absolutely ... enjoy that breakfast and you never know, maybe the room will be available.

Robyn,

I'll be thinking of you and your mom all day ... and sending all the good luck and prayers I can muster up along with pixie dust of course. Keep us informed!

Hugs,
Teena

Prayers to your mom Robyn....

Teena- I wanted to stop and see you today, but couldn't get the kids up and moving early enough after keeping them up until almost 1:00 last night... Had a 10:15 ADR at boma we barely made. Now we are heading home :( We will definately visit in July!

Thanks. I'm not so concerned about Epcot since we would probably have walked anyway, but did look forward to the boat to DHS. But its only one day (for DHS) so I guess a bus will have to do :thumbsup2

What view do the standard 5th floor CL roooms have?

We stayed in this room category a couple years ago (our first time at BC!) We did indeed have a view of the parking lot, or rather the roof and some trees. We could also see a lot of the port cochere (is that what its called? where the cars pull up?) In the distance I could see some of SE and the Land. I vaguely remember seeing bits and pieces of fireworks off in the distance...maybe MK?

OK, all three of my kids have visited the pool map and photos on the first page of this thread several times today. It's listed under our favorites. My 11 year old keeps saying "I can't believe the pool has a MAP!!!"

I think we've decided on a resort.

I LOVE this post!!!

Robyn and Amanda- lots of hugs and best wishes for your moms and your families this week! As Teena said, keep us posted!

pixarmom- when do you leave for Williamsburg? Have a fantastic time!

I will get to the guest list updates sometime tomorrow.

Have a great night, all!

I feel like I should introduce myself, since you're going to be seeing a LOT of me over the next year and a half.

I'm Alice, and I'm a high school math teacher on Long Island. My last two trips were theraputic; I did lots and lots and lots of late night research when I couldn't sleep and was afraid to research Breast Cancer.

This trip, however, is all about fun. I'm just doing the research because I'm a teeny bit neurotic and get such a kick out of it.

We'll be going mid-summer 2012. (My husband is also a high school teacher-- he teaches English.) So we'll be saving every penny and hoping for a Pin Code or the 4/3 deal or something, and counting the days until the prices come out in August and we can make reservations :)

In the Lagoon View - Club Level rooms at the Beach Club is it possible to see Illuminations from there or to see them from the Stone Harbor Club Level lounge?

For a week, I'd jump on that!!!!!!!!

I'm having visions of you jumping on the king bed. No wonder they hide them from the staff! Besides, it's much more fun to jump back and forth between the 2 queen beds.

Well we are booked!! BC SV CL! (x2 one room for hubby & myself, the other for our 17 & 18 year olds)
First time doing club level. We are there August 14-21!

OK, just for the sake of argument:

Yacht Club or Beach Club, and why?

I'm thinking Beach Club, simply based on location. Tired kids coming home from Illuminations, and the Beach Club is closer to Epcot.

But there HAS to be a reason why people opt for the Yacht Club. Anyone care to share?

From the front page of this thread:

The Beach Club and Yacht Club are similar resorts in terms of service and amenities, and have equal access to the shared pool complex, health club and video arcade. Both resorts have the same management team in place.

Some minor differences have been noted by guests:

Beach Club
Lighter, beachy decor in lobby and rooms
Lobby can be active and lively with families waiting for meals at Cape May
Closer to EPCOT and Marketplace Gift Shop
Approximately 50% of rooms in all room categories have full balconies. The remaining are standing balconies.

Yacht Club
Darker woods and nautical decor in lobby and rooms
Lobby is more serene
Convention attendees are more likely to be booked at YC
Closer to Hollywood Studios and Friendship Boats
Most rooms have a full balcony

For my family, it is the Beach Club. We've got Teena! 'Nuff said!
