2011 Beach & Yacht Club FAQ

All YC CL are on 5th floor unless you are in a deluxe suite/room of sorts. YC CL floor is smaller than the other floors. Kind of like a big circl but not so big. We were in wedding gazebo view and had a super short walk to lounge it was great. Eventhough the hallway I was in was longer it wasn't too long. BWI CL was much more spread out and longer walk. Not so at YC...

Well that is a relief!! My one complaint about BWI CL was that it was such a long walk from the elevator to the InnKeeper's Club entry door, and then even farther to the lounge.

Are the elevators at YC CL close to the lounge as well?

When the YC CL doors open you are right there nearly in front of the staff at their desks. To their left about 15 feet is the lounge. Could not be any closer to the elevator. I adore the setup at YC CL floor. I love that the floor is much smaller than the floors below it. Check out this map and you will see what I mean...

Thanks for the map!

If I am reading it right, does that mean there are only 4 CL rooms that overlook the gazebo? That was the view we had requested (we have a GV room booked) but if there are only 4 I definitely will not get my hopes up about it being granted.

Yep you read it right....Just 4.....there are many wedding gazebo views on floors 1 - 4 but as you can see by the map the 5th floor is smaller, almost a section of another floor....the area overlooking front of resort is pretty too for garden view but wedding is for sure the nicest......I requested that as well. Loved it last year and here is to hoping I get it again in August. But if you can tell there are maybe 9 garden rooms that are in the front of the resort - the back half is parking lot and convention center....You won't have parking lot!!! But as you can tell prior to 1/1/11 booking a garden view here was a serious roll of the dice. Most views were lousy. At least garden view ensures you n parking lot!

I DID notice all the parking lot view rooms!!! The GV all look pretty good to me. I like to be close to the lounge, but like you said, there are no "far" rooms on that floor (or at least they don't seem far to me!!) I guess I will leave the gazebo request on there, but since we will be arriving at the resort just after 10am, the only REAL request I have is to have a room ready so we can get down to SAB without worrying about locker rooms!

Thanks for your help!

One last question, did we ever get confirmation that the YC lounge is now open 24 hours?

I have a question about Standard rooms. If we're in a Standard (non-club level) room, we 100% won't see the Wedding Gazebo (from our room's window) right? The wedding gazebo is a source of a lot of pain for one of our party (she was suppose to get married there and did not) and it would make for an unpleasant experience if she has to avoid the window for 7 days. It was one of the reasons we specifically didn't book GV. In our case I'd MUCH prefer parking lot for a week over the heartache seeing the pavilion will cause.

We're booked at YC-Club-Garden view room. Would love a king bed, since we're celebrating our 20th anniversary. Can anyone verify if king rooms are available in garden views, or if need be I could upgrade to water view to get a king bed. I know there aren't many of them.
I am so excited about this trip, we haven't been in 3years, used to go every fall, but we have several deaths over the past few years that kept us from traveling since 2008.

thanks so much

Under the new arrangement, if you have a standard room you get a parking lot or roof top view. Only way you'd get the Gazebo is if the room assigner thought they were doing you a favor and gave you an upgrade. Don't do on-line check-in. When you get to the desk to register, make sure you aren't any where on that side of the building so you can rest assured you will have a great 7 day stay.

Do not get your hopes up for a King bed. They are very few and far between. You can ask (we always do) but do not expect it (we rarely get it, and never have at the two stays we've had at the YC). Besides, if you are celebrating 20 grand and gloriuos years of marital bliss don't you want to be close together?

I was thinking of skipping on-line check-in for that exact reason. I put in a room request over the phone for the side facing trees and Epcot (as "recommended" in the unofficial Disney guide) but it's way more important that we don't get on the Gazebo side. We're going to try to avoid it at all costs even when walking around.

Unless you get a pixie dust upgrade you will not see wedding gazebo from any standard room. Club or not.

If it's that painful, you could stay at another resort. Even BC right next door would be easier. You wouldn't have worry much about walking near the gazebo, or changing your route just to avoid it.

She really wants to stay there to create good memories of it, just to avoid the physical pavillion. We're at BC over YC so I don't know if it makes a difference.

And we're all very excited for SAB. I would imagine SAB is much more prevalent on the property than the pavilion.

If you're staying at BC then you don't have to worry about views of the wedding gazebo. I don't know how you'll be able to avoid it altogether getting to DHS though.

DHS we'll blindfold her as we walk (as we do when she crosses bridges in cars) :) Thanks for the help!:flower3:

Can anyone give me some details about this option at the MP. Toppings, etc. Is it still considered a snack option? How long is the line at 8:00 am??

Thanks

Yay! A question I can answer. I was rather disappointed when we were there in February. Unless I was sorely missing something, I did not see this. There were yogurt parfaits already made up in the "case", but nothing where you could mix your own. They were still good. Just had some fruit I don't particularly care for. Now, if someone tells me the bar was there and I just didn't see it ... well, I guess that means I just have to go back!

This is a little off topic but it's relevance lies with those who have recently been to the Magic Kingdom or those who will soon be going.

I know they have moved Mickey's meet and greet to the Town Square Exposition building so my question is this... Do they still have those rockers out in the front of this building on the porch?

This is my absolute favorite place to hang after the parks close and I'm waiting for the tired masses to clear from the bus lines back to the resorts. Keep in mind I'm in no hurry to leave so I get there just about the time that some of the rockers are empty and I love to watch the stragglers like myself mosey on out of the park after a Looong day.

I'd be CRUSHED if they took away those rockers to make room for the thundering herds waiting to see Mickey at this new location. In fact I might be tempted to fashion an Adirondack chair out of straws and park maps if they no longer have these rockers there!

Does anyone remember seeing them still there? Lemme know!

Take a tip from yer ole Marlton Mom. If they're still there, grab a rocker and save your tootsies from that terrible wait in the epic bus lines that form at park closing. There is nothing like watching the Kingdom fall asleep at night as the guests wander out.

I don't know if those chairs are still there, but I like watching the fireworks from the Main Street Railroad station for the same reason--we stick around and wait until the park clears.

I hope you find out about the chairs, because that's a tip I might take.

Since our trips are overlapping I hope to meet you by the pool one afternoon! :flower3:
