It was foggy all week! And definitely made for some good pictures. Like this one on Main Street:

IMG_8688.JPG

Makes me think of London. Double decker bus and fog! What a great picture.

I've got a standard view booked and am totally fine with the views (or lack of lol) that come with that as I tend to just relax in my room with the door open to let some fresh air in rather than sit outside on the balcony (assuming of course I'd get a full balcony) in the sun.

My agent has requested a room close to the elevator (based on my health needs - I have a hidden condition but I will not use a scooter), apparently Disney have confirmed my request based on my health needs, can anyone advise what sort of standard view I would end up if my room is located near the elevators?

Thanks :goodvibes

Some changes have occurred recently. Before, if you wanted a handicapped room for whatever reason, you requested one or went through "special needs". Now you can book it. Those rooms are new categories. Your agent may have booked you one of those. You may want to see what your Disney confirmation looks like to see if that happened. You may or may not want a handicapped room.

All standard view rooms have views of parking lots or roofs.

LOVE the foggy pictures!!! :) Awesome. I can't imagine Disney in fog but it must be nice and cool in the parks then!

That picture of the Fantasy is gorgeous! Teena, how lucky you were to be there and see that first hand!

I know I keep going on and on and on about my ticker, but I remember when I posted it saying to my DS "imagine when the Mickey pushpin is in the middle of Spaceship Earth!" and now just LOOOOOKKKKKK!!!!

Thank you all for providing me with such an informational board. I enjoy reading everyones thoughts. Question about the BCV's. We are arriving on April 14th to the BCV's 2 bedroom. Wondering what our chances were of getting a room with two queens in the second bedroom. I realize they are for DVC members first. Do they give them to non-VC members if they have ones available? Thank you in advance. :)

When a DVC member makes a reservation for a 2 BR at BCV, there are 3 different categories:
1) dedicated 2 BR with 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom (only one entrance from the hallway). There are 25 of them.
2) dedicated 2 BR with 1 queen and 1 sofabed in the 2nd bedroom (only one entrance from the hallway). There are 53 of them.
3) lockoff, which is a 1 BR connected to a studio (two entrances from the hallway). There are 74 of them.

When I tried to make a reservation as a DVC member (not for your time period), all 3 categories were sold out. I was allowed to waitlist for 2 out of the three, so I chose # 1 and # 2. My waitlist came through for # 2, but I chose to stay on the waitlist for # 1. Eventually my waitlist came through for # 1.

My confirmations clearly stated which category I was booked in each time.

So it's not a preference for us, like having a big balcony or being near the elevator.

You're arriving during Easter week. I would be surprised if you managed to get one of the rooms with 2 queens in the 2nd bedroom.

Here now, and we are looking to have pizza for dinner. Can anyone suggest someplace that delivers that is reliable. Thanks

Papa Johns. They deliver to the lobby almost every day that I'm working there.

Was just reading another thread and the "love bugs" came up. So now I have another question for my favorite thread.... How are the "love bugs" in late May?

A minor question, but brought forward to my major set of experts. :)

As we are nearing the end of the countdown to our trip some of the more minor considerations are popping up. Today's minor question is brought to you by my husband. Here is the dinner time discussion in our house.

DH: Does Disney get AMC?

Me: I don't know

DH: But you kinow you can find out. I can't believe you haven't found out already.

So my fellow experts, will we get the AMC channel on our TV at the YC? My husband and son are loving the Walking Dead and would love to catch it next week while we are at Disney. (Not that we stand a chance of being in the room at that point. Don't they realize we are scheduled to be at MK on Sunday night. Sheesh :sad2:)

Hey Janet...Guess what was in the new Disney Files Magazine. No promises. It says this spring. So maybe......

Just got home from welcoming the Fantasy to its home. I sent videos of it to MM and hopefully she can post them so you can all see. The fireworks as the sun was rising ... it was incredible!!!!

Wow, you were there? I just watched a video of it and I was crying when they blew the horn that plays "When you wish upon a star"! :lovestruc That was amazing! :thumbsup2

60 days til my DH and I are back at the Beach Club! I can't wait!! :dance3: :woohoo: :yay:

Yep, I was real far up on the rocks ... it was right in front of me when they blew the horn that plays "When you wish upon a Star" and then the fireworks. The sun was just coming up. It was absolutely amazing.

Was just reading another thread and the "love bugs" came up. So now I have another question for my favorite thread.... How are the "love bugs" in late May?

We go every year at the end of May and I have never seen/noticed any of these. Frankly, I don't have any idea what they look like, but since I didn't notice any bugs, really, I'm pretty sure they aren't a big deal at that time of year. And I'm not a fan of bugs, so I feel confident that I would notice if a bunch of insects had invaded.

Normally they are here in late April, early May and then again in early September. They sleep disappear as soon as it starts getting dark at night and then appear around 10 AM in the mornings. I HATE THEM!

Well look at you MickeyT, ever the useful source of information!

Of course my pessimistic husband was quick to point out that "spring" starts on March 21 and we are only at the YC until March 17.

I guess the Magic Kingdom will have to do to amuse us (and some drinking around the world ;))

thanks for the comments and here is some more information.
We stayed Poly CL and I love a balcony or a great view from a window. We had a large tree litterally hanging its branches on our railing. You could hardly see the grass. But my idea of a CL or deluxe view. The tree basically covered everything.
So I guess views are important either from balcony or window. I thought the layout was awkward and maze like when coming back by buses from HS.
HS is one of our favorite parks.
We love swimming and great pools. I haved stayed at BLT and Contemporary before and loved both of them. But I am leaning toward Beach Club due to my love for the Beach and I love the atmosphere in that area. Board walk seems like alot of fun. Life is to short not to have fun and noise is never an issue and we never stay put in one place for very long.
I am checking in on August 8th and very excited.
Thanks

As Teena said, we were at AKL last year last week of April-first week of May. They covered everything. We spent time by the pool but it was an adventure. Of course I enjoyed sitting there watching people freak out. They are pretty harmless, just nasty.

I agree with hubby. The super deal or some perk is always the week after we go. And I figure "this spring" in Disney speak means before July!

I see a lot of positives for you completely loving the BC. Pool, Boardwalk, atmosphere, your love of the Studios all trend toward a great BC stay. (And may I add getting a chance to meet Teena).

The negative is there are some less than stellar room views here. Standard are all parking lot and roof tops. Sometimes if you book a garden view you may have a tree outside your room (not many at all). Garden views are typically around $10 more a night and well worth it if view is important.

And want to make sure you know about the balcony set up. There is a lot of information on page one about how to request a full balcony.

Good luck and happy planning

Hello fellow BC fans! It's been a while since I checked in with the DIS. We had an amazing trip to BC in December but I don't think I posted anything about it as we headed straight from there to Xmas celebrations and then the business of a New Year. I will post some thoughts soon.

I had been trying to wean myself from Disney because our school calendar came out for 2012-13 and our usual 2 week Xmas break was drastically cut to about a week. I told the kids that our annual pre-Xmas trip to Disney was off due to the calendar, but I just heard that the state may roll back some requirements for the school year so we may get those days back! I am all for education but they were essentially adding five more days for students, taking away teacher work days and not giving any funds for it. Not the way to help our schools IMHO. So I am keeping my fingers crossed that we can return this December.

In the meantime, we are also looking forward to sailing on the Dream March 2013!

Don't get me started on what they do to teachers and our education system at some school districts. Hang in there. I have my fingers crossed for you!!!
