I'm sure that I'm setting myself up for bashing but...................I think the new fastpass system will be a good!! Especially during the summer months, when if several families decide to wait and use their fastpasses at a time different from the fastpass window time, the fastpass return line is soooo long.

I know that there are times, when you may be running a few min late, but with the 15 min late return policy there should be no problem.

Once everyone gets used to this new system, and rearranges how they see the parks, they may even like it!!

No bashing from me...I like it, too! It can be really frustrating when the FP line gets backed up so long and you're a) waiting in the FP line or b) in the standby line waiting for all the FP people to go through.

I know a lot of people are worried about timing w/ ADRs or ride breakdowns. I'd assume CMs would allow people to use their FP later in the day if the ride breaks down. As for ADRs, can't people just make sure they don't get a FP during their ADR timeframe? I know it stinks, b/c it's nice to have a FP to rely on to skip the standby, but I think the new system makes it easier for people who don't rely so heavily on FPs.

I'm definately bummed about Fast Pass :sad1:, but I understand the reasoning of enforcing it. Whenever we stayed at BC we would get FP's in the morning at EPCOT then use them when we came back to catch Illuminations. Man, I'll miss that!

Several things:

First, thanks to everyone who is helping me feel better about crowds for our upcoming March trip.

Next, add me to those bummed about the FP rules. I get it. I really do. Unfortunately, when you're used to how it had been and that's the way you were planning it for an upcoming trip, it's disappointing to find out things will be different. As a previous poster said, staying at BC, I was really planning on collecting some FPs, heading to the hotel for an afternoon swim, and then back to Epcot to use the FPs. Back to Ridemax to see how this changes things.

Finally, one person weighed in on my bed question. Maybe I could get confirmation on that. My original question was, we have three people (me, DH and DD17). Will we automatically get a room with two queen beds, or is there a possibility we could get a king with a day bed? I definitely want two queens, but don't want to waste a "request" on that if I don't have to. Would rather save my requests for balcony and location.

100 more days!!!! That just seems so official and tangible :) We have a lot of stresses in our life right now and looking forward to Disney is keeping us hanging on. We have our house up on the market with no interest (and we already purchased our next house) and my sister in law is in hospice with only a few days to live. DH is super stressed at work and I'm so worried about him. Disney is giving me a glimmering hope that May will be good for our family :)

Isn't crazy how much a Disney a countdown can help pull you through the hard times? I hope thing get much calmer for you guys. Thoughts and prayers are with your SIL and family. :grouphug:

Maybe I should plan a "Last time to use FP according to its old rules" trip, before March! If only it could fit in the budget!

Sorry to hear about all of your worries. I'm glad to hear that thoughts of your Disney trip are helping you make it through difficult times. :grouphug:

Thanks for sharing your recipe. However, I'm afraid to ever use my BBQ again. Once steaky bacon has touched the grills, I'm not sure it will ever be the same again.

Your chicken will cook super fast though.... Can I just say I love the "English Method" of classifying bacon and now I can't look at traditional American style bacon with out thinking "Ummmm.... STEAKY Bacon!!!!" Love it!:thumbsup2

No bashing here... there is enough room in this forum for all views... * unless you go on and on about relatively insignificant problems and manufacture opportunities to whine about them constantly, wearing out your welcome and starting a run on resort phone books... ahem, oh wait, that's not you. There are so few King rooms that the odds are astronomically small that you would get that arrangement so no worries. Queen rooms are the norm for this resort. Keep in mind that if you walk into your room and decide that there is something that you don't like you can always go back down to the front desk and tell them what the problem is. They will do their best to help you.

Things will get better so hang on! Your life is like a roller coaster and right now you seem to be in that loopy part. I'm sorry to hear about your sister in law. I hope your family finds peace and contentment in the days ahead, and keep on Disney dreamin!

Hi Dee and all the BC/YC peeps!
I made it over- haven't been on this thread in a while but I need to feel the .
Wish I was staying at the BC this year :sad1:, but at least we're going right?

Glad to have you checking in over here! Share the laughter, the life updates, favorite recipes, tales of vandalism (my pool noodles do NOT like blue dye) and your opinion about the Fast Pass rumor (I am currently in the denial stage about this, anger and bargaining coming soon)

BTW- you may want to make your next post sooner rather than later (check out your post count). There are people in here who monitor that type of thing!

Wow - I'm appreciating this nice conversation about the FP changes!

We collect FPs like crazy in the morning, but use them all by the early afternoon. We're morning people at MK, AK or DHS, and after we leave, we usually don't return - we're at dinner/in Epcot at night. We used to have an FP strategy where we returned within the window, so we'll just revert back to that. It will be different because we're losing our rider swap for many rides (youngest is 40 inches now) and open-ended FP returns all at once, but there are several benefits associated with those losses. Like Mickey T said, we'll just adjust!

Wow Dee I didn't even notice the post count:laughing:
Not to happy about the new FP rule. I have to say I was one of those people who didn't really worry about the return time b/c I knew it didn't really matter if I was an hour or so late from eating lunch. Although I didn't collect them and save them for later like some.

Well It Looks Like I can FINALLY be added to the list. We are saying to heck with waiting until July, and we are heading down in May!!!

BC May 25 - June 2!!!!

Teena, looks like I will be able to enjoy Cape May :thumbsup2

Can't wait to get home and tell DD :cool1:

Just got off the phone w/ DS's sped. teacher. He is starting M.S. in Sept. and has mild anxiety disorder. Wanted to ask her if they could make sure he has at least 1 friend in his class? They do make sure at least 1 kid is with them from his school, but in his situation it really needs to be a friend someone he plays with. Wasn't sure how it was gonna go. I think it went well she totally agreed with me and said he would perform so much better. She is going to bring it up at the team meeting this week and call the M.S.
So happy about this
Just had to share :yay:

Thanks everyone for your kind words and prayers (and for letting me vent).

Marlton Mom, love the analogy, and thanks again!

That's awesome news!

I know you probably know all of this, but one of the things that I liked to do was host a pool (or other type if you don't have a pool) party before school started and I invited everyone in my son's class. I especially convinced any new people to try to be sure to make it so that their child would have a friend on 'opening day' at school. I got the names of the new kids in the class from the school. Because it's the end of summer and so crazy, not everybody could make it, but we always seemed to be able to get together the kids that could be good friends with the kids that were new and needed a friend.

Keep trying to find ways to connect your child with the other kids in the class, even after school starts. Movies and ice cream afterwards works well because the movie helps to break the ice and you have a shared experience to talk about. Bowling is also good. These are activities where talking is not mandatory but giggling is optional! The kids will naturally drift towards others that make a good fit so they will let you know who to keep inviting for future get-togethers and who to avoid because they don't fit well in your child's preferred group. Video game get-togethers are OK, but not every kid plays the same games with the same skill levels, so activities like bowling and movies sort of even the score.

Good luck and I have a feeling that good things are coming your way for your son! :thumbsup2

No bashing, but thought I'd share an experience we had. Usually, we are always back at our FP time; but one day last May, when we got in line to get fastpasses, it had a 10:45 a.m. return time. The line was quite long. By the time I got to the front of the line, it had a 12:15 p.m. return time - right during my ADR, which was at noon. Now, after waiting in line about 15-20 minutes, I really didn't want to get back in the even longer line to get a new fastpass time. So, I grabbed them and immediately went to TSM to see what I could do. The CM told me to come back any time in the afternoon and we went immediately after lunch. But, with the new rule, we'd have to go get back in that FP line or miss FPing TSM altogether. This has happened to us two times where unintentionally, our FP time has fallen during already scheduled ADR times. There really is no way, when there is a long line, to control what your FP return time is. I wonder if in this instance, if you showed them your lunch receipt, would they still allow you to use it?

This is from the FAQ section of the thread (posted below).

The coffee makers in the Beach Club Villa rooms are Mr. Coffee-type (drip) coffee makers. I think the 2 BR and 1 BR BCV kitchenettes have a 10 cup machine and the BCV studios have a 4 cup carafe.

Come on, recent Villa People (is anyone else picturing a policeman, construction worker, cowboy and Native American disco dancing with swimming pool noodles), can you confirm or deny the type and size of the coffee maker in each of the room types?

LOL. Love the Village People reference. When we stayed in the studio, they were the smaller, I believe, 4-cup coffee makers.
