Hmm...why is only my ticker showing and not the actual countdown?

Hi all!

I am almost embarrassed to ask the following question (but not too embarrassed not to ask, apparently :)) . I have been reading through this thread and the information about the differences between the Yacht and Beach club, but probably missed this info:

Is there any real, noticeable difference between how much further one resort is from, say, Epcot, or the Boardwalk, or the boat launch? My family is pondering returning to WDW, and I like the idea of the Yacht and Beach clubs (never been), and I'm caught in what is clearly a common quandary -- how to choose between the two. I have a five year old with some medical issues, though, so I'd love to know if there's an appreciable difference in how long the walk is from the Yacht Club to Epcot, etc, vs the Beach Club. If there's a difference of 5 minutes or more, it might make the difference for us. I like the idea of a quieter area around our resort/lobby, etc, but don't want to make the distances noticeably further for us.

(And the embarrassment comes from knowing that this question has probably been asked and answered umpteen million times, yet I couldn't find it myself).

Many thanks!

We've stayed at both BC and YC. YC is a closer to the water taxis and the walkway to DHS and BC is closer to EPCOT and Beach Club Marketplace.

There isn't that much difference though. I would say YC is maybe 3 or 4 minutes closer to the water taxis and BC is about 3 or 4 minutes closer to the EPCOT walkway.

HTH!

I'm going Feb 27th to March 2nd... Monday to friday with the buy 3 nights get one free deal.

Aww well next time we should coordinate!! I had some extra points I had to use so I booked at my home resort AK... and then bought tickets to a Yankee spring training game. My plan is to just hang around the resort MAYBE one day at Epcot since its the Flower show time and I'll do the whole play with my camera thing... otherwise lots of me time and relaxation!!

Enjoy your time I look forward to seeing your pics when you return!!

All Star Movies is CORRECT!

Now class, the next assignment is to use Google Earth and tell me which building I am going to request (and be ignored about) on my ressie.

Keep in mind it's not a 'preferred' building...

Mighty Ducks, it's like right across the parking lot from ASMu food court and bus stop.

Very helpful -- thanks, Robyn!

Boy has this thread been busy today! Trip annoucements, schedules, questions..... love it :goodvibes!

All checked in VWL. Took us until 4:30 yesterday to get in the room but we were at Citricos by 5:15. We had the filet and braised ribs. Wonderful food. Love Citricos as a 'date' type meal. Fancy enough to be fancy but still relaxed enough to be fun. After dinner we just came back to WL and took in the atmosphere. Kind of nice with the fireplace and lodge feeling with the chilly temps. They still have the Christmas decorations up here. They are already down at GF and Poly. Will get to check on Y&BC Friday

We did MK today. It was coooold here this morning too. Not 17 degrees but cold for WDW. But the day warmed nicely. We got all our favorite rides in with standby and FP's. Had a nice lunch at Columbia Harbour House. Great day for clam chowder. Enjoyed parade and just walked around. Getting ready to do Artist Point for the first time. Will let you know. Their menu looks a little more excotic than most at WDW. Take care and will post more later. :cool2:

Ann, we've appreciated Caring Bridge in so many situations involving our own friends and family, so I followed your link to learn more about Elke. Thanks so much for sharing - what a strong little girl! Wishing you and your family good health in the New Year, and hope you have a wonderful trip! Please let us know if you have more questions! :)

There are no stupid questions so don't feel embarrassed at all! All are welcome to join the party so feel free to ask away.

WELCOME!!!! :cheer2: :grouphug: party:

Like Robyn said the, dock that services both the Yacht and Beach Club is right out of the Yacht Club back exit. So basically if you are taking the boat to Hollywood Studios (or to the Epcot international gate which would entail a ride from the Yacht Club/ Beach Club dock THEN OVER TO the Boardwalk THEN OVER TO the International gate at Epcot) Yacht Club is the closest when compared to Beach Club.

I'd try looking at Google Earth to get a better idea of the distances. From the 'not so secret' rm. 1501 exit door at Beach Club, to the International gate at Epcot really is a 5 minute walk, maybe 6 or seven if you are drunk on one of those Grey Goose slushies from France and you're zigging and zagging.

Here is some shorthand I keep on my trip schedule to remember which way the boats run:

BOAT STOPS

Epcot International Gate -> Boardwalk Inn -> Y&BC -> Swan & Dolphin -> DHS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ (Like the waves? :rolleyes1 )
DHS -> S&D -> Y&BC -> BWI -> Epcot IG
Mighty Ducks, it's like right across the parking lot from ASMu food court and bus stop.
Man Bookgirl! I knew I could count on you to figure it out! That's correct!!! :thumbsup2
I'll be slinking over to All stars Music to get a seat on the bus faster!
That Marlton Mom... always scheming! Mwa Ha Ha....
Thanks for the update, Mike! Our niece was in AK today meeting Mickey at Tusker House, and she looked pretty bundled up in the photo! Thanks for the Citricos review - sounds like we should definitely keep it on our list. We usually bring our kids to signatures, but you mentioned that it's good for a date night - any kids there?
hey everyone, returned from a split at GC/YC in December, how is everyone?
:thumbsup2 The very first resort I ever visited at WDW was ASMu. We were on the backside of Prefered Building 10. When I parked my car I looked over and was like "hey, look more buildings that's not on the map" It took me a while to figure out it was a whole different resort. I like Hockey so the building name stayed with me. I actually really liked this resort. If I was going to stay value this would be it.
We've MISSED YOU!! :grouphug:
Did you bring us any presents.... like RESORT WEAR for the WHOLE THREAD?? :lmao:
If you don't have any presents for us, a trip report or some pictures would do nicely!
We know you need time to get your act together after a trip but SPILL IT baby! We can't wait to hear about your adventures and thoughts!
Welcome BACK!!
~Marlton Mom
Hi all, Can I be added to the noodle swap? I will be checking in 9/7 (page 1 says 9/8, but we added a day :thumbsup2) and checking out 9/15. Thank you!
Adding you to the noodle swap and changing your check-in date on the guest list. :cool1:
:welcome:
As others have said, ask away. We need something to keep us busy in between our complaints about the cold and the "Where in the World is Marlton Mom Staying" guessing game.
Ann - I followed your link and just wanted to let you know that my ds was diagnosed with Ewing's sarcoma when he was 3 - he is now 26!!!!!! Will keep your family in my thoughts and prayers.
Mike - sounds like a perfect day for CCH clam chowder!!!! Have a magical trip!
Citricos sounds fabulous!!! Thanks for the info Mike. Looking forward to hearing your opinion on Artist Point too since we're also doing that one.
This joint is a jumpin'!
I've been so busy leading up to Christmas and away for New Year's so I haven't been commenting lately.
I'm all caught up now and so excited for Mickey T who is there now and MM who will be soon.
I'm also excited because I got the official approval from my boss for the week off in March when we will be at the YC. I'm not sure what I would have done if she didn't approve the days off since I think I would quit my job before I quit my Disney trip. ;)
I only started my job last April and I haven't had the heart to tell my boss that I've had this trip booked since before I ever met her, but after a long many months, the trip is now just a short 9 weeksish away. Can't wait.
:surfweb:Newbie to this thread and love all the advice. Staying at BCV 2BR April 14-22nd. First time in a villa and can't wait. Feel free to add me to the calendar check in log. :)
