I am sooo addicted to this thread! Thanks soooo much for all the info! I can't wait to stay at the Beach Club next month for the very first time. I confirmed that we do have a Garden View ressie, so hopefully we have a nice view. I did request a full balcony. I LOVE sitting out on the balcony, so I hope this request can be met.

Quick question....... What is the Atrium? Are there any pictures? I've visited the Yacht/Beach Club many times, but I don't think I've ever seen the Atrium (unless I did but didn't know it was the Atrium)! Thank you!!!

And have you been in the Poly lobby (I like saying Poly Lobby for some reason) lately. The place can be chaos with Ohana and Kona loading up.

My all time favorite lobby is the WL early in the morning but.....BC wins the overall prize hands down. Love the Atrium. <<<<<< EDIT (meant the solarium)

Mickey T, you must be quoting my husband! After staying at the Poly again earlier this month, we can confirm the Poly lobby is a very busy place. My husband loves the WL lobby early in the morning - it's his favorite WDW lobby. But he agrees that BC is best for us overall. So he's quite happy to spend his early morning time in the solarium. If you saw another guy with his coffee in the solarium last July, that was probably him!

We would need a daybed room but if we can request a cot this just may be the year we book BC/YC....now which one???

Keep in mind the regular rooms can only have 5 people ages 3 & over registered in them ... and each person, even a child 3 years old, must show a key to the world card to get into SAB.

and for instance, I put in arrival date of June 10th for six nights and put in Beach Club and all the room categories (standard, garden and water) came up ... what comes up for you? If you can book it yourself that way, then your travel agent should be able to too. Remember, these new categories ... it all changed effective 1/1/11.

Since I'm at work I can't read the entire thread but I did skim the last 10+/- pages. I'm looking for info YC specific info. I want the good, the bad, that amazing and the ugly. We'll be having our first stay at the YC mid-March.

We spent Thanksgiving week at the YC. We absolutely loved it. It is elegant and charming. All of the CM's were super. They greet you by name. The lobby was decorated for Christmas. My daughter's Christmas card was a picture of them in front of the tree in the lobby. We enjoyed sitting in the lobby and watching all the action. You can play chess, checkers or backgammon.
DH and I really enjoyed sitting out on the porch enjoying a glass of wine after dinner. The dgs loved SAB. Our room was fine. I like the colors and theme. We had plenty room even when our dgs spent the night with us or were there for a nap. Having a balcony sure is handy. DH liked the hot tub in back.
YC is really our favorite resort. We have stayed at BC and CR but there is just something about the quiet elegance we enjoyed.

After much research we have decided to stay at Beach Club in March 2012. Then I started to think that we should have a "back up" resort, just in case we cannot get a discount at BC, we would be open to staying someplace else. After much research we decided on YC. But now I am thinking maybe we would rather stay at Yacht Club as our first choice. The nautical theme seems really nice and all the rooms have balconies. The one strike against it is having to walk over to BC Market for a quick bite.

So my BIG question is, after reading lots of threads and hearing people say they chose YC because there are less kids......will we feel out of place with a 5 year old and an almost 7 year old? Is YC really "stuffy" and "you see alot of suits" or is it laid back? The last thing I need on a vacation is being around bunch of adults who don't want to be around kids! I mean, don't choose Disney if you don't want to see kids! But I do understand people might want a quieter resort. Is YC that resort that the "adult onlys" retreat too????

It is not like we are going to be hanging out in the lobby all day. We will be in our room, at the pool, or at the parks. But I want the resort to have a laid back feeling to it.

We were there Thanksgiving week. Our dgs ages 5 & 6 spent time with us and it never was kid unfriendly. There were lots of kids around. Yes, it is a convention hotel but we were never bothered by that. It is not at all stuffy. Yes, there is a quiet elegance but we loved it. I wouldn't hesitate to book a week with the boys staying there with us.

First I want to thank all of you for the wealth of information! We booked our BC trip based on the things we read on this thread about the BC. We typically are a YC family and decided to go for a change.

My question is about the day bed at the BC: what are the chances of getting one? Will I be able to request one at check in (even if I have checked in online)?

I am looking forward to our stay ...anyone going to be there June 1 through the 8???

I think you may have trouble looking your "Grand" old boyfriend in the eye after a few days at the friendly laid-back Beach Club. But as Pixarmom said, we are all a little biased around here.

Have you seen the pictures of the little slide on the first few pages of the thread? My kids have been age 7 and up on our trips, so I didn't even know this was there until we returned. A lot of people say even their older children enjoy using this with their younger siblings.

The slide got the stamp of approval from my little one. Thanks for posting pics!

Here's the info I have on CL Deluxe Rooms. Hope this helps. I'm not sure what the view categories are.

There are six deluxe Concierge rooms at BC.

1557 has a patio and lots of windows.
2557 and 4557 have extra large balconies.
3557 has the standing room only balcony.

3691 has both a standing room balcony and a full balcony
4681 has a standing room only balcony.

So 3 of the 6 have full balconies, 1 has a patio, and 2 have standing room only balconies.

Thank you so much for this info! Now I need to check our ressie and see if we should consider any specific requests. One of our sons is physically disabled (uses walker/wheelchair) and it would probably be a good idea to be as close as possible to the CL lounge. However, we also spend more time in the room, so the balcony is a draw...hmmmm...food for thought.

None of the six deluxe rooms are close to the lounge. All are pretty much the same distance away from the main elevators that take you to the fifth floor and the lounge as you can see from the room map of the BC at http://www.disneyzone.net/bcresort.htm

Please only use this map as a reference for distance. The room categories and even some of the room numbers are wrong as well as the descriptions. It is very old.

The lounge is on the fifth floor where it says ICE, right by room 5648.

Good Afternoon everyone,

We have never stayed at Beach Club, but this is our DVC home but like I said we have never stayed here... We have a trip planned for May and wanted to know if anyone could share any tips or hints for staying in DVC rooms. This trip in May we are staying in a deluxe studio, did not know if we should request anything special.

I read the previous post on requests but was not sure how the DVC rooms differed from the Rack rooms.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Last December we stayed at the BC for the first time and my girls, who were 7 and 5 at the time loved going down this little slide....but of course they loved going down the bigger slide too Can't wait to go back (staying at BCV this time) in May

We stayed at BCV for the first time in December. I read all of the posts before we left and I thought I knew everything there was to know. What I found when we arrived is the the Beach Club Resort and Villas is so much more. The resort is beautiful, the Christmas decorations were wonderful, the CM were so friendly and the room was so inviting, that I hated to leave. So, of course we have already booked our room for Dec 2011 and can't wait. I'm counting down the days.

Teena, when we were there, I wanted to stop and thank you personally for all of your help, but I kept missing you. Next year I am going to be sure to check with you for your schedule so I can finally meet and thank you.

We just booked a stay here for March 23-28. I am sooo excited My Dh and I have not been there since Feb 2002. It has been way to long.

Oh, by the way, born and raised in Monmouth County. Moved to South Jersey (Galloway) for a while before moving to Northern VA. My parents ship Butterscotch Krimpetts to us all of the time. Oh, and I miss custard on the boardwalk, good pizza and deli's along with good, juicy, ripe, tomatoes.

I don't know the official policy, but as you can see from the photo, the lifeguard is positioned directly in front of the slide. In our experience, the lifeguards are very appropriately strict about rules regarding beverages, turn-taking, running, and sliding down facing forward.

We didn't use the slide much in March, but on our first day in July, I asked. The lifeguard said it was absolutely fine for our entire family to go down the slide. So our pre-teen boys went down the slide, my husband went down the slide and I went down the slide several times over several days with several different lifeguards stationed there. As long as the older kids and adults observed the turn-taking and other sliding rules, everyone could enjoy the slide!

Thanks...I was amazed at how many parents just let their kids roam around by themselves...not just at Disney here too, I must be a very strict mother

Now my other question was about daybeds...What are new and old style???

We are booked in a garden room at YC any area where we should request...hoping for a daybed with 2 queens since we will have 5 but LO doesn't count so really 4 but it would be nice not to have the pack-n-play in the way all the time.

Maybe we will get an upgrade???

Yes, I just called yesterday to see if they had YC CL, no such luck. Oh well, I am just going to enjoy all the posts about CL and plan to book it for my next trip.

I'm going back in time reading about BC. Thinking of staying CL and noticed that you had a hard time with availability. How far out were you trying to book? My family keeps going back and forth between BC and BWI, and I'm afraid we're going to miss our window. We are going October 2011 which is 9 months, but in Disney time that's pretty soon!
