NixiePixie - WELCOME!!!

You will find those that post on the BC/YC most helpful so if you have any questions ask away!

LeasfsFanNL - we really disagree on the rooms BC v. POR.

We tried POR once and lasted less than an hour! The rooms seemed so small to us. We checked in and ended up checking right out! Plus those rooms so dark and dreary compared to the bright rooms at BC.

Oh, no doubt the rooms are nicer at BC, but not by a large enough amount to make me want to spend the extra. Now, the location might and probably will draw me back, but to YC

natebenma - I'm laughing my head off! I love sunken treasures but never knew all the ingredients (except the midori)! Leave it to you to know everything there is to know about BC!!!

Hope our paths get to cross this summer! Maybe a "real Dee" at a Dis meet?

As you may recall, I promised to have a Sunken Treasure for you in July, but I don't have a picture because my son was whining about having to wait in line while I was getting my drink. Like you don't expect lines at Disney!

I didn't end up getting one

I would love to attend a DIS meet this summer. I hate to say this out loud, but right now we don't have a summer trip booked. But if we do go, I think it would overlap your trip (we like the 2nd week in July).

Then I keep thinking about Teena's description about how fun a girls only trip can be. I have a couple of gal pals who love Disney. Heck, I would even enjoy a solo trip. Maybe a visit to celebrate my 40th birthday. I just won't tell you all if I am celebrating it a few years early or perhaps several years late!

I'll keep you posted!

Hey, if a bunch of you dis ladies plan a girls only trip, count me in. I'll join up with you daily or I might even stay at the resort with you too ... what fun!!!

I'll keep you posted!

We're booked July 15-30 - hoping we can get another Mini Dis Meet going again. We had such a good time.

LovingtheLodge hoping you are coming back too! It was nice seeing your gang in the lounge. Of course this year NO FIRE ALARMS! I'm still telling the story. I keep saying we need a better plan than me standing in the middle of the room screaming Fire! Fire! Fire! Get up! Get up! Get up!

Teena, no all girls trip for me but hoping we can all meet up again this summer!

I'll keep you posted!

My February trip mission: photograph and drink a Sunken Treasure. With all the discussion last summer, I planned to get one in July. When we were there, I spent every minute at SAB in the pool with our three boys (where, for reasons that make good sense, drinks are not allowed.) Therefore, no Sunken Treasure for me, either.

As I mentioned to Dee, I'm happy to accept more photo missions. But this one sounds particularly fun!

And :welcome: nixiepixie! As DisneyMomx7 said, let us know if you have any questions and we'll try to help!

Got to chime in here having done YC 2x and POR (Mansions) 2x. Got to agree on the "value" of the location of YC over POR but when it comes to the room, I will say my POR was every bit as nice a stay as was the YC (for what I paid for it). This may be because of my YC room locations (ended in "corner" rooms that "felt" smaller than the regular YC rooms on both trips) but I think I walked as far from the lobby and bus drop-off of the YC to get to my rooms there as I did at POR to get to my rooms in the Mansions. I'm not an AP holder, I don't get those emails with the 40% off offers, and I really don't get any discounts unless its througb AAA so I am use to paying rack rates for my stays. That's why I need to look for value when I am taking the family. I know if it's just the DW and me we'll be at YC while if I'm taking my three adult children and their significant others it is definately POR. That is just my opinion. Robyn, I remember reading that you didn't have a good experience at POR but I can only say very positive things about it. Maybe the fact we spend time at DTD and the convenience of getting there from POR vs. taking the bus from YC might also influence my thoughts on this.

Welcome NIXIEPIXIE. Have fun planning that upcoming trip. There is probably as much fun in the planning as it is in getting to execute the plans in April. Trust me though, when April gets here, you'll wonder where the time has gone.

Teena,

Sorry I didn't get a chance to drop over and see you and thank you for all the helpful info you gave me the last couple of months.

I was wondering if you help me. A CM at the concierge desk at BC gave me really good assistance with a room change and straightening out the consequences of a move at 2 am last Thursday. I have her name and want to write a very nice letter for her file. I was wondering where I might send such a letter? Perhaps to the Manager of the resort? Could you help me with such contact information.

It is people like you and this fine lady, thanks again GC that keep the magic alive when it could easily be lost.

Hi Robyn!! I would love to get back to the BC in 2011. If we go in the summer it will probably be in August (1st or 2nd week) again...bummer. Yeah that was something about the fire alarm. I remember having trouble waking up my son! I really enjoyed the DIS meet...met great people and formed lasting friendships. I hope to see you at the BC sometime in the future!

Kerry

Greetings;

I'll post more about my visit to YC later but I want to send a compliment to the hotel management about my stay and a rather special interaction I had with a CM and I want to do this before I get sidetracked by "life". I was thinking about snail mail but will send an email if that's sure to get there. What's the best? If email is the way to go, is there a preferred email address? If USPS is the way, what mailing address should I use and is it OK to just address it to "the Manager?

Also, if Teena reads this, I never signed up for a button and I am not much of a contributer to this thread but I read every post for the last several months. I checked out on Sunday and was going to look for you but I forgot in my hustle to check out. I loved the resort. It was a bit spread out for my liking but loved it none the less.

The GM's name and address is on the page before this one. Glad you had a good visit!!

Looks like we will miss you since you will be sailing while we are Beach Clubbing! Hope we have better luck seeing you over Spring Break in March!

I need to have a package over-nighted by fed/ex while we are there. What address do I need to use ?
Thanks Teena!

Ok, just checked the previous page... for some reason I'm thinking for fed/ex it's a different address, perhaps this?

I've got to try one of those yummy Sunken Treasures when I am there in FEB!! They sound great.....I read something that said you can't have alcoholic drinks at the pool??? Does this just mean in the pool or Do they not let you have alcoholic drinks around the pool area/in your lounge like other resorts allow?? This could affect whether or not I order this!

I am excited, I managed to find a spa willing to change a "mother/daughter" paradise massage in to a "mother/son" paradise massage so my son can join me for a massage experience....He was wanting to try this so badly and thought it was so unfair that most spas require you to be 18 to have a massage without parental presence.....I really didn't want to wait around for him to be done, I wanted to do it together, thankfully the Mandra at the Swan and Dolphin are accomodating us for this experience! :thumbsup2 He's pretty excited and happy!

I am getting excited.....not long now, I really want to go, but I also am enjoying the anticipation of our trip, and I don't want to see it end. So many fellow BC/YC disser's are back already and the trip is over :sad1: That's always so hard when all you have is the memories!! Arrrrghhhh.....I don't know how I will survive without a Disney trip for another 5 yrs! I'm going to be pining soooo badly!

I am so happy that my son (he's 14) and I get to experience this one last "Mom n' Me" trip while we still love each other's company and the same things!! I'm going to cherish this quality time together :lovestruc

Edit: Just re-read your post- can the post office overnight the package or do you need to use Fedex?

Here's some info from Page 1 of this thread, based on info from Teena. Hope this helps!

Orders from Garden Grocer are delivered to Bell Services at YC or BC, so they are not subject to the delivery fee. You can ask Bell Services to deliver the order to your room when you are there.

:

1) The only rule I'm aware of is that you can't have beverages (of any kind) actually in the water at the pool.

2) Hopefully, it's not your last! My dad and my brother went to WDW together when my brother was in his mid-20's. My brother joined our family for trips before he was married. My parents have joined us several times, and they are meeting us for our trip in February. We plan to travel to WDW with my parents, my brother, his wife and my niece in 2012 or 2013! I feel the same way you do about our three boys, but I'm hopeful that it will all continue for years to come!! If my dad, brother and pre-teen boys are any indication, it's looking very good! :wizard:

Yep. 1700 is the Yacht Club, 1800 is the Beach Club. The GM's office is at the YC.

Keep in mind that if you send it Fed Ex, it will go to the shipping department and they will charge you a fee whether or not you pick it up at the Shipping Department (in the Convention Center) or whether they deliver it to you in the room. If you send it overnight via United States Postal Service, it will go to the front desk at the BC and there will be no charge to you. The US mail is the only way to bypass the shipping department. Send it to the Front Desk of the BC, at the 1800 address with a notation that it is for guest, .....[name].......

Oh my goodness my trip is almost here! I had a panic attack earlier today when I realized they had posted the bib numbers for the half marathon; this sounded like such a good idea when I signed up and now I'm scared to death just thinking about it! But at least, when all is said and done, I'll be able to relax back at my favorite resort, and hopefully the weather will be warm enough to watch a movie on the beach with a drink in hand!

Hope everyone going for the holidays has a lovely time!

Just returned from a very cold trip to WDW! We were staying at POP this time, but dh and I just had to check out the BC lobby. It was beautiful as usual!

Teena, I am so glad we got a chance to chat. You are always so welcoming and nice to us. It was fun pin trading with you!! Have a great holiday and wonderful cruise. Can't wait to hear all about it.

See you next time! :goodvibes

I have booked a standard room at BC for June. Is there any part of the hotel we should stay away from? I'm afraid of being too far from the pool/elevator/or walkway to epcot.

Thanks!:goodvibes
