:scared1: Two months and one week???? :scared1: Yikes, I've been so preoccupied with the kids school and moving my mom into assisted living I haven't been planning like a fool!! (I do have all my ADR's though) When I said how long we have my dh said "Just think in two months, it'll be freezing and snowy here, and we'll be in the warm sunshine, sitting by the pool with pina coladas!" then he added "with SAND under our feet in the pool!"

Yipeeeeeee! :yay:

Update on pool/slide being closed in May that someone posted about. I talked to the rehab CM and she knew nothing about it for May ... just the January/February scheduled maintenance. She tried to find the one recreation manager that would know today but couldn't find her. The CM isn't back to work until Monday. She will leave me a message as soon as she confirms anything. However, I'm on the cruise from Saturday to Saturday but I promise when I get back, if she leaves me a message, I'll post it.

For all you going soon to the Y&B, I have good news. Two weeks ago I talked to the head pastry chef. They are going to be selling those gingerbread house kits again this year. They sold them as fast as they made them last year so make sure you don't wait until the last minute to get them. The gingerbread is Chef Stefan's grandmother's recipe and is very different than the gingerbread at the Grand Floridian. The gingerbread house kit has everything you need to make a fantastic and yummy gingerbread house. They totally sold out last year and our bakery department only makes a certain amount daily. They were very reasonably priced too. I purchased some for good friends as gifts and they raved about them!! For those that are flying, they come in a nice box and could be easily carried on the airplane in a bag!

Can you have these shipped? Would be a great gift, but don't want to carry several on the plane.

You would have to ask the Marketplace but I doubt it. However, if you purchased them and took them over to the Shipping Department at the Yacht Club Convention Center, they would probably ship it for you. The Shipping Department is not run by Disney, it's outsourced.

For those leaving next week, have a great trip. Teena, have a great cruise, hope to see you greeting guests at the BC upon your return.

Teena - I hope you and your husband have a wonderful Thanksgiving cruise!

Hi Teena! Wishing you and Bob a great time on your cruise!! I hope you get back on the BC schedule soon. You bring that extra magic to the BC.

Thanks everyone and I am hoping when I get back I'll be scheduled on Sundays and Mondays again ... especially because of everybody coming in December. I can't wait to meet all the new dissers visiting and to see some of my old friends again!

Teena, have a great time. :boat:

I can attest to how good those gingerbread houses are. Taste great and are so pretty. Very different taste than the GF gingerbread.

Erika, I doubt they will ship for you. Disney doesn't ship food and even outside companies on property don't in my experience. For instance Ghiardelli won't. I would ask before counting on it.

All of you going in December....have fun. :cool1: It appears there could be a DIS convention. :grouphug:

Thanks!!!!!

The only thing I thought about as far as shipping is if you go over to our shipping department at the convention center, they will give you a large shipping box. If you put the gingerbread kit boxes in the shipping box (last year they were plain white boxes) and take the big box back to the shipping department, have them add filler (peanuts), I don't think they will even ask what it is. You are basically giving them the box to ship. For all they know it could be smaller boxes of snow globes. Just a thought.

We will be at WDW in February. Staying the first four nights at AKL and then 3 nights at BC. I'm trying to put together my daily itinerary ... you know, best day to visit what park ... that sort of thing. Well, we are also going to the beach one day. So I thought the best day to go to the beach is the day we are switching resorts. I would have bell services take our stuff, but head over to the BC to check in and then go to the beach. Well, that plan just doesn't seem to be working because I think we really need to go to DHS the day of the switch because it's supposed to be one of the best days for DHS while we're there. We have been to WDW before so it's not like we have to see everything. But we will want to do Toy Story (at least twice), Tower of Terror, and Rock 'n Roller Coaster. I would say best case scenario, we get over to check in around mid-afternoon. So, now finally the question. Do you think checking in mid-afternoon will lessen our chances of an upgrade or even just simply receiving the room requests I made? Which I think the only requests were for two queen beds and a full balcony. Now, just to clarify, I am not expecting a free upgrade and it certainly won't ruin my trip if I don't get one. On the other hand, I wouldn't turn one down and I'd like to do what I need to do (within reason) to get one. Just because I think it would be totally awesome! So, what do you think?

This thread is wonderful!!! I just finished reading all of the posts, phew!! Anyway, please add us to the ever-growing list YC CL 12/10-12/12, YC 12/12-12/17! I thought we were booking a slower week, but it appears I was wrong!

I can't believe the trip is only 3 wks away, time has definitely escaped me. We (me, dh, ds, dd) booked a YC CL GV room for the first two nights, and then the rest of my family will be joining us in 3 adt'l YC WV rooms. We are also switching out of CL as they didn't have availibility! I hope we won't be disappointed after being spoiled! We really didn't put any requests on our reservations, but I amsecond guessing that decision as I want this trip to be special, lots to celebrate this trip!

I have a few questions I hope you all can help me with: we will be arriving at YC by ME about 8pm...should we grab our bags off of the flight so we have them, or will bell services be able to deliver them to our room later tha night? We will need bed rails for our 3 yo...should we add it to our ressie or ask for them when we arrive? Will they move them for us when we switch rooms?

Teena-hope you are back on the schedule by the time we arrive in Orlando so we can meet :)!!

A suggestion ... if you still want to stay up on club level the whole time, once you get up there and settled in, the next day you should tell one of the concierges at the desk on the fifth floor that you'd like to speak with one of the concierge managers. Tell the manager you really wanted to stay up on club level the whole time but there wasn't availability so you had to book some of your vacation up on club level and the rest in a regular room. Tell them you were hoping that they might now have availability on club level for your entire trip and if so, could you stay up there for the whole time at the same rate you were paying for the first few nights. They might be able to make it happen for you.
Personally, since you are on a later flight, I would grab your bags and take them with you on the magical express.
I would add the bed rails to your reservation now and hopefully they will be in your room when you get there. If they are not, just pick up the phone in your room and call housekeeping and tell them you need them ASAP.

I think check in mid-afternoon and take your chances. Life's too short to worry about something you have absolutely no control over (Tinkerbell spreads her pixie dust when-ever and where-ever she feels like it, not when Peter Pan tells her to).

In August I checked in at 8pm and was pleasantly surprised to find that I got my room requests (we were staying BCV and I wanted NOT 1st floor and Epcot view - we could watch upper Illuminations! from our balcony).
