2010: What's on the Emerald Aisle?

change in the way they park the cars now....all nose first trunk out....

a few mini vans suvs on side A today

we got a jeep patriot on the emerald isle on 1/24. There were also several mini vans available-there were only 3 of us, so we picked the jeep-had about 1400 miles and that scrumptious new car smell....

Just picked up my vehicle on the A side Emerald Aisle at 9:00 pm on Feb 4. The aisle started off with some Suburbans, a Tahoe, 2 Avengers, more Suburbans, some Expeditions, some more Suburbans. Got to the end of the aisle and turned back towards the Tahoe near the beginning. Lo and behold, on the way we found a dripping wet, just-from-the-wash white Buick Enclave loaded to the nines with 2500 miles on the odo. SCORE! I might also add that I booked two weeks ago and am paying $185 all-included for 10 days. I looked at the price two days ago and it was closer to $600 for a mid-size booking...

Thanks for the new links. Still an Executive Aisle member for 2010 (5 years now! Rent 40+ days every year to keep my status!). I look forward to a better selection than 2009. (Rented 6 times at MCO and never got anything bigger than a full size sedan.) We'll be there in 2 weeks for our first 2010 and I'll post back what I find!

The Executive Aisle last week Tuesday was full of minivans! I had to walk way to the end to find a Charger to rent.

Thanks for the new thread. Wondering if any EA members have been able to extend the free upgrade to Executive Aisle that many of us benefitted from a while back. Mine expires in Feb and I haven't found a way to extend it yet.

I"m wondering the same thing! My Exec Aisle status exires in February, too, and I haven't found a way to extend it yet either.

I've been Executive Aisle for the last year or so so I have forgotten how to make a reservation with Emerald Aisle only. Do I rent a mid-size or a full-size if I plan to take a car from the Emerald Aisle?

Also, I'm not sure how I make a reservation WITHOUT the Executive Aisle status at this point since it comes up automatically for me when I log in to National. I know I won't be Executive status in April when I am renting but it still says Executive status when I try to do the reservation.

Choose a mid-size car for Emerald Aisle.

I haven't used EA in a while, and I hope there are mini vans when we go in April! It would be great to have the extra room!

we fiound dec 3 last year ( not a lot of mini vans or suvs it was the week of thanksgiving ...) we went back on dec 7 and there were lots of them

morale...depends perhaps on time frame...if april is near easter, you might have competition from Easter crowd

our most recent rental, we had to go to the end of the executive aisle to get an suv which this time we needed for our party size

on the issue of keeping executive in ' real terms ' at least 41 rental days per year

Actually it is 40 days, but I always "Pad" my count as sometimes they count partial days as a full day and sometimes they don't, so now I only count nights and not both pick up and drop off days. I learned the hard way when I lost my Exec. Aisle status a few years ago when I thought I had 41 days and they counted 39 days. I certainly would've rented a car for one more day had I known. Now they send us a quarterly newsletter letting us know the number, though the newsletter is not very timely. I actually write them mid year to check on how many rental days I have to see if we are on the same page. My last newsletter said I was at 37 days in November, and I rented for 10 days in December, so I know I'm good for another year. They should be updating our accounts any day now, so folks should watch when you log in to see if you maintained your status. But there are actually some Elite members here on the boards and I think that is 80 days a year.....! I rented 55 days year last year and they were ALL WDW days!!!!

We picked from side A at 1pm on 2/9 and found 3 white Tahoes, 1 white Suburban, 1 red Lacrosse, a half dozen minivans, and no Standard size sedans (wanted a Malibu). There was one HHR that had just 503 miles so we took that. It's spacious, great on the highway (we did a day trip to Jacksonville) and delivered over 30 mpg on the first tank.

If you take a peek at Side A and don't see what you want can you go to Side B?

We actually are not flying in to MCO however will be picking up a car there. How much of a hassle will it be to find the rental lot from the road. We have returned cars to MCO several times however never picked up there.

My husband suggested one of us go to lot A and the other lot B and call on the cell phones to compare Aisle choices. We are very nervous about the unknown. We usually just rent a _______________________ and know pretty much what to expect each time.

Again thanks for everyone's help for the Emerald Aisle novice.

Was this the Executive Aisle or plain 'ol Emerald Aisle.

What does everyone think? Which side has a better selection in general or is it luck of the draw? TIA.

We've never rented from National or used the EA anywhere. How typical is it for the EA selection at MCO to include so many larger vehicles, like minivans and SUVs? Trying to not set my hopes too high or low.

Just recently we've seen a selection of bigger vechiles. I rented from the National 6 times at MCO last year and I never got anything bigger than a full size car. This year, so far, we rented in January and the Aisle had minivans. We had not seen a minivan in any of the Aisles since 2008.

As per the thread title, my post was for the Emerald Aisle choices.

Thanks for the response.

I'm aware the thread is about the Emerald aisle but others had posted about the Executive aisle as well. Since you had the most recent experience, I was hopeful that you were speaking of the former.

I'm always excited to see what type of cars will be in the "aisles". Even though we are Executive Aisle members, the minivans we found last month were on the Emerald Aisle, so we choose from there. It is a nice perk to be able to choose from either aisle. It will again be only 2 of us next month (March 6th), but always like something bigger than a sedan. Last year we had a Ford Taurus 5 times from the Executive Aisle -- always load and always light blue. We were happy with it, but enjoyed seeing lots of different stuff during our January trip. We'll be at the BCV in March and can't wait to just relax at the DVC quiet pool! (esp. with 4 ft of snow outside right now!)
