2010 promo information is here! "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day."

There aren't really opportunities in my area. How do I find the opportunities for making blankets? That would be fabulous - my daughter loves making things for people!

I don't know what state you are in, but I know there are opportunities for Project Linus in my area in Utah. If you do a search with the zip code 84062, Project Linus will be the top of the list. Or you could look for a chapter in your state at http://www.projectlinus.org/chapter.php. HTH!

I'm so glad that i found an opportunity where I can sew. I'm making fleece cat beds, and dog bandanas for a local animal shelter, as well as gathering old towels to donate.:goodvibes

Great thread! Thank you! :)

If I have a Deluxe AP that is blocked out on a Saturday, does anyone know if I can buy a blockout ticket and then redeem my voucher for the FastPasses? Or is that option only available on a day that the AP is valid?

(I'm not sure if I'll just exchange my voucher for a one-day pass and upgrade to a hopper--which I think is a net savings of $20 or $25 for me--or if I'll get the FPs, and I might want the FPs on day that isn't Saturday anyway. I'm just curious.)

My family just signed up to do some work at a local YMCA camp (sprucing up the place) in late March. However, I just read that about 600,000 people have signed up, which is nearing that 1,000,000 limit! We're probably going to be using the vouchers for FP at WDW unless the tickets don't run out and then we might do a 1 day trip to DLR and upgrade them to hoppers to see WoC.

It is my understanding that Disney is monitoring the sign-ups and if you successfully sign-up and complete your volunteer activity within the alloted time, you will get a voucher. So when your family signed up, they were numbers 600,001, 600,002, 600,003 etc. Unless you cancel and need to reschedule, whe you finish your activity, you should be good to go as long as you make it to DL or WDW by Dec 15! -- Suzanne

I was under the impression that an unlimited amount of people could sign up and volunteer, but it was only the first million to actually go to the parks and redeem their vouchers could get it. Anyone else? :confused3

Yikes...that would be scary and get a LOT of people majorly upset if they went to the trouble to sign up, volunteer, print their voucher, make hotel reservations, DRIVE all of the way to DL and then got denied at the ticket booth because they didn't get to the park early enough in the year!!!
I CERTAINLY hope that they are only giving out vouchers that they plan to allow people to redeem!! :scared1:

I can't imagine Disney doing that. That would mean people on vacation planing to use the vouchers could be turned away. I sure hope not, Disney would have a lot of angry park goers. I also remember reading on some of the volunteer descriptions that only 1 million voucher will be given so there is no guarantee that one will still be available.

When does the "Give a Day. Get a Disney Day." program end?

Ticket quantities for this program are limited. The program will continue until all tickets are distributed or December 15, 2010, whichever occurs first.

This is what I got from the Disney cite. So Im not sure, I think Im going to call and ask. It said tickets not vouchers so who knows?:confused3 Im going to be disappointed if its tickets and not vouchers.

My family of four each made a blanket for Binky Patrol and recieved our vouchers in 4 days :) It looks like this promo is going to be ending soon with 600,000 people signed up by mid-Feb.

Question about the Fast Passes, I can't seem to find the exact answer, hopefully someone can help me.

If I redeem my voucher for the Fast Passes instead of park admission, do I get the FPs for myself only or for everyone in my party?

I have 2 children too young to participate in the program so it wouldn't make sense to use it for a Day's Admission... And if the FPs are good for the whole party only 1 of us needs to volunteer correct?

Time to repeat myself again: All of the relevant information is in the original post, which is updated whenever necessary. If verified answers can be found to pertinent questions asked in this thread, they will be added.

blatant plagiarism:
Disney's Special FASTPASS® cards for certain attractions for you and up to 5 additional members of your party.

I received the email today from Disney telling me I could now print my ticket vouchers but when I go to the web site and click on "Print Voucher" next to the names of each team member it goes to another web page that is blank. It says that it is "Done" in the bottom left hand corner but there is nothing there. It doesn't seem to be a pop up blocker issue. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, do you have a solution? Thanks!

Do you have a current pdf reader? My tickets "popped up" through my pdf program when I clicked the print voucher button. Maybe try to download an updated version of your pdf reader.

Hope that helps. Good luck!

I had a question for you all.

I just printed my voucher & wasn't planning on going until Dec. But now I saw the post about Disney reaching 600,000 already.

Does the program mean it's good for the 1st million vouchers actually redeemed or is it that if I received a voucher I am part of the 1st million? I would think its the latter, b/c how sad would it be if you planned a trip b/c you had a voucher & the tickets were already distributed? But...you never know.:confused3

Thanks for any clarification! Happy voluteering to you all.:goodvibes

I called it because my name was misspleed... now i cant find the number.. call the i think it was the walt disney world phone number call them and im sure they can leads you in the right way//

I have been telling friends about this promotion and of them had a question for me that I could not answer since I have not used my GAD passes yet and I am hoping someone here may know the answer. Her DD is 5, turning 6 later this year, but they want to do the volunteer work now before the passes run out. She was looking at the blanket making like my family did since they can do the project out of her home. She was was wondering if she could sign her DD up under the wrong birth year so she could get the pass, but then they look at the birth certificate when you turn them in. So what she really wants to know is, how well do they examine the birth cert? I don't know what to say to her. It stinks that kids 3-5 cannot do anything especially when there are a lot of really easy jobs out there.

I am running into this problem as well. We signed up for a service this weekend. The description said 12 and over, but the woman I spoke to said DD9 could volunteer no problem. But when I went to add her name, the computer wouldn't let me since it said 12 and over. I called the Hands on Network and they said the organization needs to change it on the website. So far they haven't and we are scheduled for Sat. I am so close to changing her birthdate on the registration, but am afraid when we go to redeem the vouchers. It's also a matter of an child's ticket vs. adult ticket.

If you go here: Disney Parks Blog, it says, "More than 600,000 people have volunteered or signed up for volunteer projects in their communities in the first six weeks," so they are counting how many people have committed to volunteer for the program (actually signed up), not how many people have used their vouchers.

I'm guessing they are either going to stop letting people sign up after 1 million or they are going to have a disclaimer when you sign up that says that you will not be receiving a ticket for volunteering anymore. :confused3

toby78 posted this in another thread - but thought it should go here too, this article states that the promo will be ending soon:

http://ocresort.freedomblogging.com/2010/03/04/give-a-day-get-a-disney-day-winding-down/36467/

Here is some more info posted over on Mouseplanet:

Late last night the HandsOn Network sent an e-mail to volunteer organizations who are participating in the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day program, advising those groups that "the Give A Day. Get A Disney Day program is forecasted to come to a close very shortly."

The e-mail goes on to list specific steps the organizations need to take to "wind down" the program, and includes several points of interest to potential volunteers. To summarize:

-Effective immediately, no new applications will be accepted from organizations wanting to participate in the program.

-By Friday, March 5, all flexible schedule volunteer opportunities will be removed from the search database.

-After March 5, organizations can only post date- and time-specific opportunities.

-Once Disney reaches its one-million ticket goal, the program ends and organizations will no longer be able to post new volunteer opportunities of any kind for the program.

-Only volunteers who have completed the registration and signed up for a specific date and time to volunteer before the program ends will get their vouchers for a Disney theme park ticket once their service has been verified.

If you haven't already scheduled your volunteer service, this is the weekend to do it. The HandsOn Network site currently lists opportunities for the next 60 days, so be sure to get registered before the program ends.
