Folks,

Earlier this week Disney released 2010 pricing for all their resorts including the Fort. Rack rates range from $44/$74 for weekday, value season, Partial/Premium sites to $89/$121 for Christmas-to-New Year's for Partial/Premium sites. There seem to be more pricing "seasons" or categories for 2010 too. While there's been a Regular, Value, Peak, and Holiday (and the more recent Pre-Holiday) now there are categories for MLK seaon, Marathon season, President's Weekend, and more. It makes me dissy there are so many! :3dglasses

Cabins range from $270 for weekday/Value season to $435 for Christmas-New Year's on rack rates.

I listened to the podcast from this week and the crew did some analysis of package pricing to determine that basic 2010 Disney Dining (1 QS, 1 TS, 1 snack) went up to $42/adult/day (from $40 I think - going from memory here so somebody correct me if I'm wrong). But what got them (and me) is that Disney is going to flex the Disney Dining pricing now for peak periods (like they did with buffet meal pricing the last 2 years). Then that same Dining will go to $47/adult/day during the most popular times of the year (I would think all spring, core summer, and holiday periods in November/December). Of course, on this board any Disney Dining discussion is limited to cabins if it's offered for free in the future since we campsite people aren't eligible. I've never done DD before and never will but Pete (the Dis creator) and grand poohbah, was upset by the seasonal pricing and went on a rant and advised people not to buy it at $47. Anyway, it made for an entertaining podcast. :)

Make your plans accordingly. Try to get discounts wherever possible. And booking early and long is always best. Good luck to everyone!

I think Pete's right. The powers that be at Disney just don't get it. The economy may recover, but it won't return to it's previous levels at least not soon. They should be looking at ways to operate more efficiently without sacrificing quality. They seem to be taking a page out of the government playbook and are delivering a lower quality product for increased cost.

OK, my head is spinning right now. I just updated my pricing table on my FW web page FW Fun Facts and in addition to across the board price increases there are a few "hidden" price changes:

They have added higher weekend pricing during Value Season

Last year they had 5 higher priced weekend/holiday periods. This year they have 9 periods with special pricing.

At this point I have a headache form trying to figure out the dates form the multiple screens I had to go to on their site:upsidedow

So, it's time for an adult beverage.

If anyone sees anything I got wrong, please let me know:confused3

If Disney wants to turn around their bottom line, they need to lower ticket and hotel prices and STOP GIVING STUFF AWAY!!!!

trying to figure out the pricing matrix made me feel like a kindergartener in an advanced calculus class...

but, I guess I'm willing to pay peak season, then weekend peak, then peak, then weekend peak for my 8 nights in Disney... in exchange, I just want my Disney's money worth. I expect above par service and friendliness from CMs, I expect above par or superior campground cleanliness and amenities. I will have no tolerance for less than excellent service simply because the campground is completely full on the weekend. If I'm paying more for a meal because of the time of year that I consume it, I expect the same quality, the same timely, courteous service as would receive at the slowest time of the year. I will have no patience for the extra time it may take to be seated and served, simply because of crowd levels.

If Disney is going to go to great lengths to charge premium dollar on any day that may have increased attendence, Disney had better be prepared to deliver the same product or experience in the same magical way regardless of how busy they may be.

I love Disney, FW and WDW is the grand pooh-bah of vacations for our family. But lots of people would love my vacation dollars in this economy. Vacation destinations are offering some very nice packages for my money and are willing to deliver a better standard of service then in previous years because fewer vacation dollars are being spent overall.

So, Disney, I'll pay your increased prices. But you'd better deliver or your new prices could end up costing you. I hope it doesn't bite you in your little mouse @##!

I just received notice from our travel agent (and internet friend) that our rates for 2010 are as follows:
Premium Site, which we requested:
Nov. 28 thru Dec. 16 $78 (Week days)
$81 (Week ends)
Dec. 17 thru Dec. 24th $117
Dec. 25 thru Dec. 31st $121

That is only a few dollars more than 2009. In fact the
$81 is the same.

She makes all our reservations for us without charging for her services. And in addition, she makes a contribution to a charity we are involved with. It sure takes a load off
me having her do all the calling, etc. needed to assure us of the dates we want. She also makes the reservations for the special dinner shows we want to see.

Hope this helps a little.

our soon to be foster to adopt:goodvibes 11 year old joins our family)

Just wanted to let you know, my Rate Calculator has been updated to include 2010 pricing. You just enter your dates and it figures how many Peak, Weekend, Holiday rates you'll use for you.

Shan, I must be doing something wrong. I downloaded your spreadsheet, plugged in our dates and it correctly calculated the number of days, I removed the Disney Cart as we will use an offsite rental and so total in a preferred for 8 nights, no cart... $2925.00 :scared1:

Clearlly, there is no question that AAA is a heck of a discount as my 8 night package with 7 day hoppers for our family of five is $2150.00 :lmao:

So, seriously, what am I doing wrong? I'm sure I'm screwing something up.

Shan,
It looks like the data sheet has some days in the year marked at over 300 dollars a night.

Sorry guys, there was an error. I failed to sort the lookup column after adding a new rate season for the cabins, so it was applying a cabin rate for the preferred sites, and full and premium are calculated off of the preferred rate... so a whole lotta rates were hosed! Sorry. The corrected calculator has been uploaded.

*they actually added a new cabin-only rate season just for the 3 days of the marathon in Feb! Ugh!

Thanks!
