We are taking a quick trip this December to see the Christmas decorations. I am trying to coordinate it with the condo owners association meeting. we are booked at BLT 2/8-2/10. Do I have the correct date and is the meeting at CR every year? Thanks.

The meeting is scheduled for December 9.

Location will probably not be announced until a month or so ahead of time. Now that BLT is open, I assume the Contemporary convention center is high on their list. But ultimately it may depend upon the convention schedule. If Disney books a group at the CR they may have to go elsewhere.

In recent years the meetings have also been held at Coronado Springs.

Correct. Coronodo in 2007, Boardwalk Convention Center in 2008 and Contemporary in 2009. Contemporary is probably the easiest access location because of the boats, monorails and buses.

Wherever they have it, I hope they get a bigger room!!

We were busting out of the CR ballroom last December. I already have my reservations for BLT for the 2010 Meeting. Should be interesting;)

I have a 4 night cruise on 12/5 then a few nights at BLT... I have never been to one, dont know what to expect, but I may very well plan on being there!

We attended last month for the first time and thought that it was interesting but a waste of time. The meeting is a formality and is scripted.

They had a short open mic session and only had time for a few Members to express themselves. Lewis gave the excuse that they had to vacate the room because their time was up.

Some of the DVD/DVC Managers and Lewis hung around in the lobby meeting Members and listening to "constructive input".

I was told that Lewis's staff would get back to me. A couple of our DVC friends were told the same thing. To date, none of us have been contacted.

Dog and pony show and not much else. :sad2:

1) Correctomondo.
2) It could have been done through an email.
3) The meeting sounds like there should be input.
4) But, all the decisions have been made.

I wouldn't necessarily say they are a waste of time, I've attended when we've been at Disney on meeting day. They are interesting, and we do get some information about resort plans and rehabs...but they are certainly scripted with no real give and take between DVC members and Board members...and likely for good reason. Even if everything they announced was great and benefited every single member it could be a problem. I've heard some really bizarre requests & comments from some vocal members at the two meetings I've attended.

Since they have been having one single meeting I have attended 2008 at Boardwalk and 2009 at the CR. I enjoy being around so many DVC'ers and the meeting is good. I love going down to WDW this time of year and the meeting is just icing on the cake for me to have a very valid reason to go!!!!

I hope to go in 2010 but I can only book 7 months out so safe a studio for me....yeah right!!

I agree Chuck:rotfl: You think the hired help is bad until you attend a Condo Meeting and hear what some of the members want to implement!!:scared1:

We have a large investment in DVC, and I know 99% of it is scripted, but it's all we have and it's good to let management know we are interested and hopefully my concerns regarding BLT that I expressed at the meeting will be given some serious consideration.

At least they cant say they didnt know, whether they implement it or not:laughing: It's now part of the minutes.

It's kind of like voting. In Texas we already knew where our Electoral Votes were going but I still voted because I wanted to be part of the process.

Are the meetings in new location every year

So far, they have been held at WDW, but have been at different WDW Convention Center resorts. There used to be separate meetings for each resort, and they recently combined them into a single meeting.

The offsite DVCs (HHI & VB) may have been held in locations closer to their resort at one time. I don't remember.

To those who have been there in the past, how long is the whole meeting rigmarole usually? A couple of hours in the morning, or more involved? I'll be down for a few days to see the decorations and such, and I'm planning on going to the meeting, since I'm there, but I'm trying to figure out what else to do that day. Any recollections are appreciated...:)

Last year we were there from 2:00 until 5:30 because we hung around after the meeting.

90% of the meeting is legal formalities, 5% a brief report on projects and 5% members asking questions. The asking questions is always scheduled at the end of the meeting so they can cut us off if things get too heated. :scared1:

I've been to a couple of them, 2000 and I think 2002 or 2003. I was there last year on meeting day, I didn't bother. Choosing between it and park time, I took park time. The only really interesting part is the member questions and they give canned answers to most of it.

Can you imagine if they scheduled the Q&A before the legal part of the meeting? It could take much longer, and they'd still need to fulfil the legal requirement, no matter how long the Q&A ran. specially when you hear some of the actual questions...like when someone demanded that OKW replace the 2Q in the studios with the 1Q+sofa configuration, and wouldn't let it drop...
