2010 news from the Magic

Just looked at both of these. Bummer is that we'd have to fly to either Canada or Florida in order to fly these carriers. FlyGlobespan would be too much hassle - fly to Canada, then to Scottland, then to London. By that time, you've paid just as much as a "regular" flight. Thomsonfly looked interesting since the flight goes to London, and you wouldn't have to book on another carrier once in Europe. The problem is that you'd have to fly to Florida to catch the flight - (would actually work great on a TA assuming that the trip will start and/or end in Port Canaveral). I tried putting in some dates for next June and couldn't get the flights to come up - was curious about the prices.

Have you looked at Virgin Atlantic or British airways from Washington or New York? They are very good carriers,

First of all, I must say how impressed I am at everyone's investigative work. It really has been fun reading this thread as the pieces get pieced together. Excellent job! :worship:

Oh, and my Mum found a Carnival cruise online that is a 12 night tour of the Baltic from Dover, England, itinerary is:

Dover
Day at Sea
Copenhagen
Berlin (Warnemund)
Helsinki
St Petersburg
St Petersburg
Tallinn
Day at Sea
Day at Sea
Amsterdam
Dover

Hope that DCL go for something similar.

Milia :)

I like this itinerary. I would really like to visit Amsterdam and think Tallinn is a great stop. I used to live in Moscow and made trips to Tallinn, Helsinki and St. Petersburg. While I am Finnish and would love to stop in Helsinki, I think if I weren't Finnish, I would vote for Tallinn as a more interesting port. I don't really have any desire to go to Stockholm. :confused3 And Russia...well it will be interesting to see how Disney handles logistics as I don't remember Russia being that visitor friendly, though the museums in St Petersburg are awesome.

And in terms of airlines, my vote is Virgin Atlantic for the most comfortable flights. I'll be looking for airfare deals through them!

I can't wait to hear more. Keep up the investigative work super sleuths! :thumbsup2

I know there is no way of predicting this but what do you think the stateroom prices will be. What were the Med prices like when they came out?

Originally, I had booked a cat 6 on the Med trip. For the 4 of us, including insurance, it was around $13K.:scared1:

When the cat 12 sale fare came out, we switched, and our fare was $4,600 with the insurance.

I feel like the cat 9's cost around 10K, but I'm not positive about that.

Thanks stephent2008!

I just found a one way fare for next June on Thomsonfly.com for $440!! Its from London Gatwick into Florida (Sanford). Thats a great price - perfect for someone doing the EB transatlantic and flying back to Florida!!! Of course, who knows what 2010 will bring, but its good to scope out these carriers beforehand.

We did the exact same thing. I was having serious buyer's remorse and almost cancelled until I learned of the cat 12 sale on these boards. What a lifesaver that was. We felt like we were "dreamed" when we were upgraded to the cat 10!

I am soley looking at a Cat. 12 for the 3 of us-me, DH, and baby. The cheaper the better for us. I'd rather put the money into excursions.

Would you believe that I was booked on the Med cruise and made the first tier at a category 6 at $6,000 and some change for 2 people, and yes, I stupidly cancelled.:sad2: :rolleyes1

Wow that is a great rate! I was paying $5200 for a Cat 11 for two people - until I jumped on the Cat 12 GTY rate, and got half my money back. They put us back in a Cat 11.

I kept checking to see if the prices on the outside or balcony went down, but if I remember correctly the Cat 7s stayed at around $10,000 for 2 people.

Yes RCI uses the word "suite" quite loosely. Even a "Grand Suite" doesn't compare to a Cat 3 on DCL! But we just sailed in a Jr Suite on Independence and it was definitely larger than a Cat 5 or 6 on DCL. There is only one bathroom, but it does have a tub and 2 medicine cabinets. The walk-in closet is awesome, and the balcony was much more spacious also. We loved it!

Also check out NCL's European cruises. We're sailing to Morocco, Spain, and Portugal on Norwegian Jade in December in a Penthouse Suite with a butler and concierge service. We were originally paying around $5100 for the 9 nt cruise, but during one of their sales I was able to get the price down to $2800!!

Keep looking for 2009, because RCI and NCL do offer sales on a regular basis. I also just got a price reduction of $1200 for our Egypt cruise on the Brilliance of the Seas next March!

I can only assume by all these awesome cruises that you are still in germany...right?

Yup, that was my second biggest mistake....that and ...turning down the purchase of DVC at its inception for about $3K at Old Key West. Never thought it would take off. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We're actually in Belgium, but yes we're still here for one more year. So we're trying to get in as much travel as we can before we go!

For those of you that plan on booking immediately upon opening, do you have a dummy date with DCL or DU that you are going to be moving? I have a 2009 dummy date with DU that I might switch to a 2010 itinerary but wondered how that would be handled by DU? Do I ask them to make the change for me or should I be up bright and early to snag one of the first reservations on my own?

If anyone did this for the PC cruises in January 2007, how did it work out for you? Was DU able to get you the best deal, or would you have been better off being online yourself?

We too have a dummy date with DU and also would be interested in this.

We had the Walt Disney Suite on the 11 night Med cruise and it was heaven. The four of us could not have been more comfortable while seeing the amazing sites. I am in for the Suite again for the 2010 cruise. We are really hoping that the Baltic Sea cruise is real. Why does everyone think that the news will be out in early October? I had heard it would be December.

Thanks for the answer. And we expect the whole year to be announced and not just the regular itinerary like they did in 2006 with the special cruise announced later?

Once your ressie is in the hands of a TA, all changes must be made thru your TA. DCL will not even discuss/confirm your ressie. I know this from past experience. We booked our 1st cruise thru AAA and just wanted to call (on a Sunday) to confirm that our cabin was linked to my parent's and that we'd be seated together at dinner. I was told to call my TA. Only after I told them that my parents booked their cabin directly thru DCL, the agent was willing to speak to my mom. :sad2:
If it's a dummy date, why did you transfer to a TA so soon?:confused3
