Glo, I can see already that we think alike...lol. I was just coming to respond with the same thing...PLEASE everyone on here answer the questions. I want to get to know more about all of you wonderful friends ... besides, next year you may very well be sitting where we are and it'll be great to already know more about you :)

Are you sure? Is this going to be confusing to you guys?

Someone tell us what questions are group questions and which are lurker questions. :rotfl:

I can't wait to see how this all plays out. I am sure you guys are nervous.

Have you started some sort of group to discuss what questions they may ask? So you can sort of be ready? I think I would read my UG cover to cover just one more time.

But...I think the key is not the knowledge. It is the passion. And getting that passion to come across to the interviewer. Not just excitement. Passion. Which we all have...just how to get it across? :confused3

Anyway...I am totally rambling. :rotfl:

I was hoping you'd all say that. I think it would be fun for everyone to participate!

It might sound corny, but I'd love for this group to keep up the "Mom's Panel" board even after they've announced everyone. Maybe start a new one next year that's a "waiting for 2011 applications" -- just a place to check in with everyone while we anxiously (oh, i mean patiently) wait for September 2010 to roll around. :surfweb:

Well that, and I think we want to live vicariously through those DISers who make it on the panel! :rotfl:

Me? I'm just trying to not focus on not moving on...instead I'm focusing on my job interview that I have on Friday and my mini-vacation w/ DH to WDW in January! :)

:grouphug:

That is a good idea!

And for those of us that will just cheer you on for 2011!

Go! Go! Go! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Traci, sending you lots of "good luck vibes" for your interview. :) I think that this thread should definitely continue...and I like the "2011 Hopefuls" idea too :)

Okay, I need some distraction... anyone have a good "question of the day"? :) ;)

I love this idea! I had been lurking on this thread for ages before finally making a post earlier.

Would love to find out more about everyone else/support those which have made it to Round 3

Tracileigh - Good luck for your Job Interview!

First I agree with the whole gettin to know you thing, and that everyone should play- this is more like a group made up of Mom's Panel 2010 hopefuls, than one of the final ten and would be nice to keep that group alive.

And Maroo, you better play!

:)

Don't want to step on Twende's toes, but just for the moment, how about recalls of the first time you rode Small World?

:)

Hey, this is a hopeful post, whether the hopeful is for this year, next year or whenever everyone should participate who wants to be involved. We can all learn from each other. I have learned a lot by reading the posts of many of the panelist from previous years. Please de-lurk! Come play and join in the fun. It will make our time pass faster, and the time til next year pass faster! Besides just talking about us will get very boring very fast....LOL

IASW is a must do ride for me. Can't skip it, must be done at least once a trip. It is one of those rides I remember riding on my first trip to DIsney. I am a big doll lover. I thought they were gorgeous, and I loved the costumes and songs in different languages!

:lovestruc Ahh, my Small World memories are many. I recall first riding it in 1984 with my Mom and brother. We had survived a horrific car accident in 1978, and when my Mom was finally well enough, she took us to Disney World. I vividly recall so many things about that trip, but regards to "It's a Small World"...I fell in love with the "white room" as I call it. To this day, I look forward to riding through that room. :) I think it's the ferris wheel and the clean, happy feeling I get in there...it's like I'm riding through one of my dreams--it's nostalgic :cloud9:

Nowadays, Small World memories are both heart-warming and hilarious. Our youngest 2 children are little princess: princess: . I'm sure you all know the big hippo on the ride?? Well, our DD-5 is a HUGE hippo fan...she has always loved them. Anyway, last year, as we rode past the hippo, she did this all on her own...

:lovestruc Awww...yes, she blew him a kiss :) . Our DD-7 loves the big, swaying giraffes in the same room.

Our boys, however...well, they aren't as into Small World ;) Their sisters had INSISTED on riding it 3 times in a row, singing the songs, admiring the dolls, pointing out their favorite ones...all while the boys sat patiently. After this last ride...

they were about over it. ;) DD-7 had gotten a t-shirt the day before at Animal Kingdom that said, "I conquered Expedition Everest". We walked off the 3rd time in a row on Small World and DS-13 looked at me and said, "Hey, Mom, I think you need to MAKE me a t-shirt that says, 'I SURVIVED It's a Small World". :lmao: :rotfl2: I laughed so hard...my boys are great sports...so I took them on Splash Mountain 3 times in a row to make up for it. ;)

Oh, Small World! It's always been one of my favorite rides! It was always the first ride I insisted on riding as a kid.

But my favorite memory of it was when my oldest was 3 1/2 and we rode it ... as we floated through the 'white room' I caught her on video tape saying "wow" ... she was so in awe. That moment still makes me all gooey and weepy whenever we watch the video. It is one of DD5's favorite rides - I think we rode it at least 5 times a day (every day) on our last trip. ;) :goodvibes

My first time on IASW was when I was about 7 years old. I remember just being amazed. I don't think I said a single word for a while. I was just looking around ... not knowing where to look.

I've always loved this ride. I love the song. It's a must-sing song in our house for my DD4. We have to go on the ride -- it's a nice break and there usually isn't much of a line, either, so that's nice.

Last 2 times we ate at the PVH and got a table overlooking the boats. My DD had a wonderful time waving to everyone and asks to eat there again.

My favorite IASW moment...

I just love the look on his face. :cloud9:

Here is Lauren, too...But I could not see her face. I loved her looking straight up, though! :) (She had to wear a white tank top - her Tink costume was itchy!) :thumbsup2

Hello All! I am fuzzy headed from a nasty head cold so I apologize if I come across incoherent!

CONGRATS to all who have made it to Round III! As you can tell, we are sll cheering you on and sending lots of pixie dust! :cheer2:

I think the idea of a waiting room for 2011 is great! I have so enjoyed meeting all of you in the waiting room this year! It's been fun and a nice diversion from work. :rotfl:

Missy - I am so glad you have good news!

First IASW memory.... I was around 7 and we made our first trip to Disneyland. I remember waiting in line to get the E-Ticket to ride the ride. The ride looked HUGE to me! Seeing all the beautiful dolls was great but the thing I really remember was seeing my mom cry!

Disney has a way of making us to that, doesn't it?

No hurting of my toes Jud. :rotfl: I have children and Golden Retrievers. My toes were smashed to bits years ago!:lmao:

I love the idea of continuing with questions. :thumbsup2

Besides that 9th day question really did not get answered. I sure we can come up with some good ideas for future campaigns for Disney to Celebrate and better ways to publicize the joy of Disney World to the rest of the world!

Now to address Small World. :goodvibes

I am another big fan of this attraction. :woohoo: My favorite part is the unicycle rider on the high wire. I love to do both activities myself although I have never ridden my unicycle on a high wire.

There is also something about that huge elephant that still can make me smile. I think the update that was done on it was very well done and is actually one of the few updates that I can say really improved the attraction.

I also get a kick when you first board the boats and you get to wave to the CM's and the people in the restaurant windows! Isn't that silly?

Gosh Jud I just realized that I did not answer your question correctly.:scared1:
Hmmmmmm.....My first encounter with this attraction had to have been in Disneyland when I was a child. I think the song is what stuck with me the most and seeing all the "dolls" move. That was some advanced animatronics in those days! No jokes about age allowed here!:upsidedow
I too love dolls and still collect them today.

Well, that's exactly the question! Return with us now to the heady days of yesteryear and share the details as they flood back as you write!

:)

OK, OK, I will de-lurk!

I'm Barb, round 1 reject but I think "tied for 201st place" sounds better!
This is my first year trying for mom's panel and plan on trying again next year.

Anyway, responding to the IASW question: I'm sure I rode it many times as a child but the memory that stands out to me is when I took my new husband on IASW on our honeymoon 15 years ago! He had never been to WDW and I wanted to show him THE ride at WDW, so this was the first thing we did on the first day!

Now that we have started visiting yearly with our girls, we have a tradition of taking our oldest daughter's picture with the hippo in IASW. I see that she is not the only one with a thing for the hippo;)

Barb
