I know that 2010 itineraries will not be available for a while, but I want to: "be prepared" (insert Lion King music) ;)
So, when and how do I start searching for them? Do you just keep checking the Disney website daily? If so, when should I start looking? Or, is there an easier/better/faster way to get the new itineraries?
Thank you!!

No news as yet, rumors will start to go around in the FALL of this year, but confirmation would not be before late this year say December, but maybe as late as January 2009.

There isn't any way to prove it, bar good detective work, Dissers have found out the Magic or DCL booking LA port , (Under the Magical cruise company) or being listed on Med ports of call before an actual release. (It soon disappeared as well, as soon as it was posted here in 2006)

I have been on threads in the past where we have successfully 'guessed' before the release, what it will be from all the clues ( and a few tip offs).

We can be about 90% Certain the Magic will be out of the Caribbean, (for May>August)as it is in the Caribbean all year in 2009. It was in the Med in 2007 and is on the West coast this year.

As DCL tends to stick to similar things and doesn't take too many risks, you would put either West Coast or the Med high up the list of possibilities at this time.

One of the first places to see it would be here, or other quality DCL specialist travel agents, DREAMS UNLIMITED, or ALLSEASTRAVEL, get on their mailing lists.

In 2007, we kept hearing 'Closer to home' (for 2009) being said and then Tortola came out here about two month before an official release, recent comments have said 'Something special' for 2010.

A rumor that has been told to me (by the same source that told me about the West Coast this year, I knew about it in Oct. 06) said that DCL is considering doing 7,10,11 night cruises all year. Maybe to test the waters or because demand for slightly longer crusies seems to be in demand. We shall see.

Something special for 2010!!!! ohhh can't wait.
We to are awaiting 2010 dates ,we are hoping to go later part of February so hopefully those special somethings will be then:goodvibes
Thanks for updates and info

That could be logical, a Dis podcast last year said the Wonder staff were being trained up to do longer cruises, maybe to cover the Magic being out of the Caribbean and offering 3/4 and 7 night cruises, but that never happened.

With extra ships I would expect a Winter addition of longer cruises of 10/11 to Southern Caribbean. I personally would think, one of the current ships to have a permanent home on the West coast in LA, lets says thats the Magic, when the first new ship comes, ( hence I think there is a 50% chance of the Magic going to LA for summer 2010) and the other ship, IMHO, Do Summers in the Med and winters in the Southern Caribbean.

This again is my take on it, my personal view, But I was the first person to post the REPOS for 2008, would be Sundays and 15 nights, from a tip off,( and was told I was wrong!) and we did guess Tortola, (Team effort there from people who cannot be named), -Note another Disser did great work finding out the LA contract though for 2008.

Another 'hint' has been 'Northern Europe' but lets not get our hopes up too quickly, It would be nice for them to serve Cornish Pasties!!!!

Going back to the Med would be great, the actual Med cruises sold well, but the Trans Atlantic's didn't sell too well had to be discounted, but there again it costs a bomb to go through the Panama canal.

I personally do not think anything special will be at the time of your cruise in February, they have stayed in the Caribbean each year from September to early May and have contracts with Port Canaveral and Caribbean ports such as St Thomas where they have to make 'at least' a minimum amount of calls each year, So the move out of the Caribbean would be limited to May to August only, if they do it.

There is a chance of a modified Eastern or Western but that will be it at your time.

Again IMHO, only, my view........

Just a couple of things to remember:

Before we start expecting the Wonder to do longer cruises, we also have to remember that Disney markets the land and sea vacations heavily. Since those are so successful, I don't see DCL getting away from that formula.

Also, weren't the 10 and 11 night Caribbean cruises that were offered before pretty unsuccessful as a whole? If they bombed out on those, as I understand they did, I can't imagine doing more Caribbean cruises of those lengths.

Now, the Med can pull it off, we've seen that. Just not sure the Caribbean could make it work. People don't tend to book cruises longer than 7 days in that area.

I don't think they're going back to the west coast. They're gearing up markets for the new ships right now, and will stay on the east coast or Europe to prepare the way for the new ships. Remember those ships will not be able to cross the Panama Canal in their first few years. Just my opinion.

But, I really want them in Alaska!

I really don't see DCL going to Alaska, just my opinion, Disney makes it's money being a pull for family vacationers. When I asked my kids if they wanted to do an Alaskan cruise I never heard such a protest! I think DCL could make longer Carribean cruises work. We are on the west coast and would love to make the trip across the country even more worth while, say a 10 night cruise going to the southern Carribean.

With the weakness in the dollar and the cost of air travel I don't think the Med would be a very good option right now. Think $1300+pp for air on top of the more pricey cruise fare :scared1:

I would like to see longer cruises out of FL. A family can drive to FL--it's pretty tough to fly to Europe.

From what my friend told me the 10 and 11 night cruises were a huge success. I was on the 11 night and it was awesome. I would love to see that happen again. As a PP said I have zero interest in the Med or eroupe now that the airlines are doing what they are doing along with the week $.

I agree aan. I am at max airfare $ tolerance right now with flights to MCO, let alone flights to Europe. I would be more than willing to spend the airfare difference on a longer Caribbean cruise. Let's see spend $$$ on more hours in a cramped airplane or more days on a Disney cruise? Alex, I'll take Disney Cruise for $2,000. :happytv:

We keep hoping for a 10-11 southern:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 that would be great:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

I would also love to see longer cruises in the caribbean as well. When I first started looking at a DC, they offered the 10 night Southern and that is what I really wanted to do. When we finally decided to get serious it was no longer offered and I was bummed. My dh really wants a Med cruise though. I am just a beach and palm tree kind of girl though. ;)

I think if Disney took one of the ships to Alaska it would be very sucessful. We have been trying for years to find a cruise company that has anything even interesting or fun for my kids to do. Most ships going to Alaska are not family friendly and I think Disney would really open up a great opportunity for those families that have always wanted to go. Who doesn't want to see a whale or ice formations???

The 10 and 11 night Southern Caribbean cruises were discounted, as well as the TA Repos and a number of the Med cruises. So far the only specialty cruises we haven't seen some form of discount on are the PC Repos and Mexican Riviera cruises.

I would love to see a ship stationed out on the west coast permenetly.. maybe to do Hawaii :)

I think that all of us who live on the west coast and who love DCL, would love to see this as well. I found it interesting that the Port of L.A. annouced its plans to expand on the same day DCL said they were going West again.

if disney doesnt go to europe in 2010 i guess rccl will get my money.
it doesnt matter where disney goes in europe the med, northern europe, etc i will be there. give us something special in 2010 you have nothing in 2009. and only 2 good cruises in 2008.i had to go to rccl in jan 2009 to get a good cruise, i will rather disney get my money but i want new ports.my jan cruise is 12 nights that has 7 ports.
