2010 Fall Dining for DVISA Is Out (See FIRST page)'

Can someone tell me how it works if you have already paid your deposit with the rewards card? Do you have get the other one refunded and then make a new deposit with the visa?

We are staying at the Beach Club at the end of August. Is it possible to get the free quick service dining or do we have to get the regular free dining for deluxe hotels?

I would ask, but I think I saw somewhere that you can use your table service credits for quick service.

If you booked a room only reservation then the original reservation needs to be cancelled and a new package reservation is made. A new $200 deposit is made and the original is credited. If the original reservation was a package then they will just modify the current package and no new deposit is needed.

I am happy that FD is out. Going to talk to the husband tonight...but I think that there is only QS offered to the Values we will just stick to our original plans and go to Universal/Islands of Adventure/Harry Potter. I dont think I can get him to pay $500 more than we paid last year for the same vacation!

OK, so I'm all excited about free dining. I start checking here and on Disney Visa at 6 am. Take the dog out for a walk and by 7:00 all hell's broke loose. So I call Disney and wait on hold for 35 min. Finally get a CM and request to change me resie. We have family suites at ASM for 3 adults 2 kids with Kids Stay & Play (only dd qualifies) for $4100.00 with wine & dine. So CM tells me Family Suites are not included in FD and quotes me for 2 rooms. I tell her I need to think if over since we really wanted the kitchenette.

So I get to thinking (always a bad sign) and I figure if I upgrade to FW Cabins, I will probably still save some $$. I call back, and sure enough I can save about $200.00 to upgrade. So I tell the CM go ahead and upgrade. Then DH wakes up and I tell him. Well, little did I know he really wanted to stay at ASM. Oh no what do I do?

So I call again. I tell the CM that I didn't consult my party when I made the change and not all of us thinks it's a good idea. I ask if I can change back to ASM family suite with wine & dine. He checks and then says hold on I'm having a problem getting you back in ASM. So I'm sweating it out while he leaves me on hold for about 5 min. He finally comes back and says OK I got you back in ASM Family Suites with wine & dine. I say great thinking I probably lost my kids stay & play. I ask how much and he tells me $3500.00

So, did I get free dining at the family suites? What's up. CM says I'll get an email confirmation, but it hasn't come yet.

Probably a SILLY question...but can you use your own DV card and book for someone else even if you arent gonna be going with that person??

Yes. If you put the $200 deposit on your card, they can pay the balance however they want.

If you paid your deposit with your DVisa, then you can add free dining with no problems. Basically, as long as you put $200 of your vacation (before adding FD or when you add FD) you are good to go.

I didn't put anything on my disney visa. They ask for the first six digits & verify you have the card & you are good to go.

Really? Wow...they told me that I had to put at least $200 of my vacation on my disney visa. since I had already done that, they didn't charge my card today. Crazy how we all get told different things!

You can get better ins for cheaper at online sites. I think I use travel guard last year, and it included my whole trip, even flight

Thank you. I was able to take it off before getting off the phone with the CM. What was weird, is I didn't ask for it, he just put it on. If I hadn't been on line with you guys, I may have keep it and then been upset later. Im new to this whole travel insurance thing. So thank you all for your help.

I know this is a free dining thread and all; but would anyone mind if I added a new subject for a quick answer.... I've never had trip insurance. I know we are traveling in hurricane season. Is it really worth getting the insurance? Does it really work if there is a hurricane?

oooo sneaky sneaky. Just a warning to some of you as well! I already had a reservation with the regular dining. When I called to get the free dining, I was automatically upgraded to the regular dining plan (the one for an extra $10 per person per day) without my knowledge. The CM just told me I had free dining. I read on here that values were only supposed to get CS free, so I called back, and sure enough, I had been charged to upgrade. If you got the regular free dining at the values, you might want to call back and double check on that. It really isn't free..you were automatically upgraded!

Thank you for the info. I didn't have a previous reservation. But i too got upgraded with out being told I was upgraded. I was told I just had FD. I was later told that I had TS, just before hanging up the phone. It was 4:30 am in California, I was still a bit asleep so it didn't hit me till later and reading here, that I got upgraded with out asking to be.

We don't want the upgrade, so I now have to call back and change it. Why they don't tell you, I think is wrong. I have gotten my conformation email and it has a break down of everything, but no break down of cost. Just a lump sum at the bottom. So be careful and make sure you get what you want and not just what they signed you up for.

I made the change to my reservation this morning about 9 am est. and still haven't gotten a confirmation. Anyone else still waiting or should I call?
