For those of you lamenting over airfare, you might be surprised to hear this....

Last month when we booked our Magic Your Way Package online for our September trip, Disney's airfare was cheaper than anything else available! I could not believe it! We have ALWAYS purchased airfare separately, and usually directly with the airline. It's almost to the point where I don't even bother pricing it out with Disney because historically they were considerably more expensive. I'm sure glad we ran the numbers this year - we were able to book roundtrip with AirTran from Milwaukee, WI for $208.60 (not incl bags). It's not the cheapest flights to Orlando that we've ever booked, but I'm happy!:yay:

I would love to find somthing around your price out of Minneapolis for Nov 30-Dec 11th. My hunt keeps going!!!!!! anything under $260 would be great!popcorn::

Wow came home from work and saw 3 new pages. Thought some big news came out, but most of it is airfare talk. LOL

I wish that would work for me but sadly driving would not be an option for my family of four.......first would be a 12 hour drive across the province, followed by 6 hour ferry ride (also expensive at $350 return) then drive to Maine from North Sydney which may be as long as an 8 hour drive (not sure) and then catch the plane for $228 return per person. I'm exhausted just thinking about it! :sad2: I think I'd rather stick with the $2500 price tag as much as it hurts. Besides, with the amount of driving we would have to do, that would cut into valuable time at Disney! and we can't have that!

Goodness, that would be quite an ordeal. I think I would be happy to pay more just to avoid all the stress one would encounter on a trek like that.

Have a wonderful vacation and remember it is only money, sometimes your sanity is worth more :lmao:

Yep, I agree. As long as it is the topic of the day, I paid $916 RT/nonstop out of Newark for 4 people. I wish I knew Airtran flew direct out of Allentown. That fare would have been a real steal for us and an hour and a half closer to our house too. Live and learn. :goodvibes

Which is why we are flying. My sanity does have a price tag.:lmao:

About a month ago, I almost took a chance and booked round trip to MCO from Rochester, NY non-stop for four people for about $675.00 total. But I was still hedging on whether to use my free QSDP PIN or hold out for the full FD.

So now the same flights are just over $1100!! :scared1::scared1:

Now I wish I had just risked the $75 per person change fee with AirTran, and went ahead and booked...ah well.....:confused3

I dont know when you are going, but I did the numbers for our trip for 4 (2 adults and my 11 yr old son, and 8 yr old daughter) The Pop Century (if they offer only QS and we upgrade to FD) is $2056 for 7 nights and if we stayed at POR the cost was $2340. Our travel week is October 1-October 8.
Ok....so thanks for your help on the Amtrak. We decided toions? book out of Raleigh (700.00 cheaper). We will visit friends in Chapel Hill and they are going to take us to the station. Do I contact Mears or can I have Disney help me set that up? I am asking a million questions? Sorry.......

I am not sure, but we got a Town Car from Mears for $100 to the hotel and back to the train station to go home.
Sorry for the spelling errors.....I hate my computer today!!!!!!! Ugh.........

We decided to take the train.

We seem to be one of the crazy few who drive.:scared1: We drive straight through from Central Iowa to Orlando, takes us about 21 to 22 hours, with 6 of us it is extrmemly cheaper than flying. I know it's not for everyone but with movies, Ipods, and phones it's not like it used to be!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm crazy too!!
Driving from Minneapolis to Pensacola (21 hours) straight. Staying with friends for 1 day then it's another 7 hours to WDW. I'm the sole driver too! But for 5 of us, airfare is just too much.

If Minneapolis flight prices not come down we are thinking about driving?popcorn::

what airline do you usally take?? I fly from Roc to MCO too, usually airtran
we're waiting for the fares to go down. I never book them this early for August, but I'm hoping they will drop some. right now we can get it for $226 each roundtrip. if it holds that way for another week or so, I'll probably just book it. I always add in the cost of the bags and chosing the seats at purchase, because when I didn't do that, we were stuck in the very last row. talk about clostrophobia... no windows and last row for 2 1/2 hrs.
But, even with all that added in, they still beat Jetblue. jetblue doesn't charge for the first bag or chosing your seats in advance.

what are YOUR dates???
Melanie, from Rochester (Greece) NY

even crazier - we drive from Ottawa, Ontario :)
Usually about a 27 hour drive - we leave super early in the morning, and drive through to North Carolina on day 1, stay overnight, then book it the rest of the way on day 2. Really not that bad, but sure beats the airfares!

Flight talk! I already have Bounceback so I'm only hanging around here for moral support but I love talking airfares. Right now BDL (Htfd CT) to MCO is $280 R/T on Delta - (MORE on SWA with lousy flight times so I'm not even considering SW this trip) up from $250 last week. I have always waited impatiently for no more than $200 R/T before I book. This usually means not booking until mid to late June and the wait is killing me this year. I feel like this will be the year my patience is NOT rewarded but still I wait!!! Last year I snagged $69 down on Delta (and upgraded to first class for free!) and $79 back on SW. With 1 bag fee, we pack light, and EBCI it came to $187 R/T. I'm sooo keeping my fingers crossed!!
