Should I get a Disney Visa card to ensure I get the FD at the resort I want?
Getting a DVisa will not ensure that you get the FD at the resort you want. The hotels have an allocated amount of rooms. Sure, if they release to the Visa card holders a few days earlier, then you do have a better shot, but it's not a guarantee. You have to have your Visa card in your hand to be able to use it - you have to physically give them the credit card number, they cannot look it up - so if you are thinking about getting one, don't wait too long in case they are going to release to us in 2 weeks. It took me about 10 days to have mine in hand.

I think it is because it is because we are going 10/1-10/8 instead of last year we went 9/26-10/3 and my son is now 11, and to upgrade the dining plan. My son turning 11 is only $35 more, but the room and dining plan are over $400 more total. :scared1:

That does same excessive.:confused3

We are currently booked in a suite at CSR, we will be downsize when/if FD is announced.

I will hate when my little one turns 10...... I hope that they offer complete FD to all resorts......hmm...if not, I would rather have the 4/3 again.:dance3:

I'll be waiting!:surfweb:

When I applied for my card online a few years ago, I got an email stating I was approved and I was able to get my card number immediately before my card arrived via mail. You can also get the card number by calling them up if don't have it in hand yet. That's exactly what I did because my card would have arrived after the FD code became public.

Anyway, it's true you're not guaranteed a room simply by having the Disney Visa and therefore booking first, but it's also not common for the rooms to fill up in those few days the Disney Visa holders have the promo first.

I don't have a Disney Visa and I've had no problem the last 5 years getting the resort I wanted. Mostly POP. Just be on the phone the first day you're eligible to book.

Just to throw some fuel on the fire, I'm seeing the same May 3rd date from my sources as well (which may be the same as CanadianGuy's). It looks like a foregone conclusion that values will get QS, with mods and deluxe resorts getting the regular plan. However, its $10 per person to upgrade to a regular plan if you stay in a value, while moving up to a moderate resort is around $70....so its a matter of preference.

:confused:Any "rumor" on the extension of the 20% - 30% - 40% room discount?:confused3

Don't know if it means anything but we FINALLY got a pin a couple days ago & this was the offer that we received with tons of dates available. Holding out for FD but it's a possibility if nothing better comes along :rolleyes1

Okay guys, can someone clarify something for me... I thought the Disney phone line came on at 8 a.m. and earlier in this post someone mentioned 7 a.m. So which is it?

I'll have to call first thing as we intend to upgrade to a mod and I will have to call my BFF and wake her butt up (she's 2 hours behind FL) so we can try to get her in on the deal too.

TIA!

CRO opens at 7am Eastern.

I hope you are wrong about the QSDP for Values, since last year the DP was offered to Values.

DP was offered for Values during the normal FD time period. When FD was extended, it changed to tiered and Values received the QSDP. Once they introduced a tiered structure, I was pretty certain that was the route they were going to stick with. So hearing that this is a possibility for this year's potential FD wasn't really a shock to me. Of course there is always the opportunity to upgrade to the regular DP if desired, though free is always better. :) I guess we'll find out soon enough!

Thanks for the tip, just ordered mine using a $100 Disney card promo!

Mel:

No way you can go a week earlier to save almost 200$ by staying in the same season as last year eh?

K

I would be suprised if it were not a tierd system this year. They were just losing too much money offering the regular DDP to the values.

Melanie- just curious how your DD was chosen for Beauty and the Beast. Were you at the front of the line or almost at the front? I have heard that if you are not the first young girl in line, you have no chance.

Funny story- we were getting in line for the show a few years ago. We were one of the first ones, but there were about 10 people in front of us. We saw them pick out the girl that accepts the rose, and apparently the girl right behind her was NOT happy. I got the impression her mom must have promised it to her or something, because she turned to her mom with a pretty angry look and threw a BIG fit.

Ok, maybe it isn't that funny that a child threw a fit, but it was sure interesting.

Sorry I'm going off topic here but Melanie's photo is just beautiful . My DD then seven was chosen for this September '07 but I didn't get a picture as DH had the camera elsewhere in the park :-(

In our case DD didn't have ears but we were serenading one another " Tale as old as time .............Beauty and the beast " and falling about in helpless giggles. DH reckoned they would have offered us ANY incentive to stop:laughing: We still have the rose somewhere, an odd item, in bendy velour, that DD considers way too precious to part with :cloud9:

In the same trip DD was chosen to beat a drum on stage to open the now defunct Pocahontas show, she was wearing a home made Pocahontas shirt at the time. In 2008 we had a really early dinner ADR at Chef Mickey's. DD and her best friend had home made Minnie 'outfits' with ears and were chosen to open the restaurant with Mickey, write in his autograph book and were given a photo package of them doing so. I think they try to offer pixie dust of this type to people who seem 'into' the particular event and consequently would probably enjoy it a lot.

I know that promos come out on Mondays, but are there any other days that they may come out with it? Like, sooner than May 3rd???:confused3

The waiting is killing me!!!!:scared::scared:

Historically, the promos that come out on Mondays are released to the Disney Card Holders a few days in advance (generally Thursdays, I think).

I got my card about 2 months ago and I didn't get an eMail confirmation and when I called to get my number, they said the number hadn't been assigned and they wouldn't know it until I called to confirm that I received my card. Thinking back, now I'm not so sure how true that really was!

Sorry if this was asked answered, but I just wanted to clarify something.....

We've gone for FD since it started several years ago. We always get just the one-day ticket as we have multi-tickets already. I did not know that we could request that the one-day ticket be seperated from our KTW cards. But, I read that somewhere recently on this board. We may do that this year! (IF FD comes out and we go, of course.) When you do this:

Does the ticket have a name on it, so it can only be used by that person?
Does the ticket expire or can it be used anytime?

Anyone who has actually done this and explain exactly how it works, your help is MUCH appreciated.

Thanks!!!

You can have the ticket seperated from you KTW card. Just go to any ticket booth and they can take it off and give you a paper ticket. It has no name, anyone can use it. We did this last year.
