**2010** Epcot Food & Wine Festival ENDED 11/14. 2011 FESTIVAL 9/30-11/13

Menus are up HERE. :goodvibes

Who else is hungry?

Me!!! Looks like a lot of great food. Haven't compared to last year to see what is missing but the site says 60% new food.

Oops...nope! They card everyone at the culinary events that could be underage and then they just don't serve them anything but the sample of food...and mom and dad don't get the kid's wine either.
Yep, for one of our trips, son was one week before his 21st birthday and we went to PFTS. They gave him the kiddie glass and the kiddie wrist band. He was none too happy about it. But, Florida law isn't like Louisiana law, where an accompanying parent or guardian can give permission for a son or daughter 18 or older to consume.

Do PFTS WVL tickets sell out really quickly? DB and I are still shuffling weekends around and I don't know if we'll have everything finalized by July 20th. :confused3 Should I worry?

Re: carding for events

If you have anyone in your party that looks remotely close to 21, and you're going to an event/visiting booths, remember to bring state ID! I don't like to bring my wallet to the parks, and I usually just use KTTW to pay for everything. Then my BF pointed out that they would card me at PFTS so I made sure to slip it into my backpack. I was carded at kiosks, as well.

And if you missed my earlier post, John Blazon will be the special guest at the V&A Signature dinner, bringing some of those lovely Spire wines. I've never actually had a wine that was 99 points before!

At the Sneak Preview Dinner, Mary Ann Hunnel eluded to John Blazon being the wine coordinator for the V&A dinner. What group is giving the 99 points rating to the wines being served? Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Robert Parker?

Absolutely, even if you don't think you look close to 21. I got carded twice last year and I'm 37! I had to have DH go buy our beer at the Morocco booth since he always carries his wallet with him. How embarassing!! :headache: I made sure to carry my ID after that.

Did anyone see this? I took it from the Official Disney Epcot F&W site. Curious, I wonder if they made a mistake or if we really will be able to cancel this year? I also wonder if it means just the seminars/demos?

Epcot Theme Park admission is required. Some Epcot International Food & Wine Festival events require ticket fees in addition to admission to Epcot. Availability is limited for some events. Events may be rescheduled or cancelled at any time.

Oh, you're right. I guess it was just wishful thinking on my part! That makes sense.

Jeanne, when I first saw it I thought the same thing you did and then I reminded myself of whom we were dealing with! :rotfl2:

I think it's interesting that the Grand Marnier event still isn't listed on the official website. Of course neither is the Grape Getaway but you'd think since they already announced these things last week that it woudn't be a big deal to publish them along with everything else.

I will say this though ... a couple of years ago we actually booked a brunch event that was going to be held at Bistro and three days after booking Tables in Wonderland called us back to cancel the entire event. So it's not outside the realm of possibility that something has fallen through at the last minute (I'm thinking more of the Grand Marnier event than the Getaway).

Yep. They mean DISNEY has the option to reschedule or cancel events...not the guests.

They've rescheduled or cancelled events on a few occasions in past years. Remember the Deen Brothers event last year that suddenly got pushed back a week?

So, I'm a writer, proofreader and copy editor for a living and I'm getting a kick out of the following:

Epcot celebrates culinary adventures, from trendy Cork, Ireland to the melting pot of Cape Town, South Africa. Discover blissful bites at the international and regional marketplaces throughout the World Showcase promenade. Exotic flavors are in plentiful supply, as are the comfort foods you know and love, all masterfully prepared. The 7-week Festival will showcase tastes from countries on 6 continents — making it easy to mix fantastic food with sensational music when you visit the Marketplace before you hit the Eat to the Beat! Concerts for the ultimate combination of sensory experiences.

More than 25 international marketplace kiosks are dishing up tapas-sized portions of regional specialties, along with recommended wines and beers... all to form the perfect pairings. New Festival flavors celebrate the tastes of Bangkok, Thailand and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Exhibits along the promenade will also showcase entertainment and traditional crafts from countries all over the globe.

Clearly, someone didn't update the text for the Marketplace section :lmao: considering the theme is actually "delicious discoveries," the booths aren't named for cities this year, the festival is 6 weeks for 2010 and the new booths are Belgium, South Korea and Singapore (returning).

It's worse than that - Thailand is not returning this year.

I read somewhere that among the layoffs occuring at WDW in the last year were several persons who managed and proofread the website. I don't find that too difficult to believe.

Does anyone know the reason for the two tier pricing for
the wine and culinary seminars. I asked on the "official blog"
but I have not been answered.

Thanks

ANyone who has been to Bavaria will tell you that Altenmunster is not obscure...that is a phenomenal bier that is never found in the States. I am VERY surprised they were able to bring it in for this event.

As to the Belgium biers...I would LOVE if they could get the best trappist biers in for the event (read not Westmalle and Rochefort) but the monks will never allow it. I would love to have had Chimay, Nogne, or St Bernardus...heck even Lindemuns would have been great.

I have been to Bavaria three times...my comment referred to being relatively obscure in the US (I checked Beer Advocate and there are very few reviews for Altenmunster). It's certainly a surprise not to see the standard Disney selections (ie. INBEV).

Hey, I love Rochefort 10/8/6...would love to see a St Bernardus ABT12 or their amazing Wit if they are worried about the abv. Nogne is awesome also.

Kabuki- Love the picture in your commentary. It literally made me laugh out loud.

Thank you!

We did and it was something like 31 new or tweaked food items and 35 or so new drinks!

The two tier pricing was explained at the preview event and they said that there would be some higher prices for higher end tastings..
The example was given that someone like Silver Oak wines would be more money...

Someone also asked about the Wine View Selling out and it did for all nights last year but I don't know how fast!
