I'm pretty skeptical on the special F&W events as being "worth it". Of course we all have our different scales on which we measure worth.
I often find myself saying "for that price I could eat at Vicky & Al's", which then leads to the conclusion that since I don't often eat at V&A's, why would I spend that much money on an event.
...just my perspective.
That's true. Last year, I booked V&A as a substitute for F&W events. I used to book a lot more of them in prior years. I'm hoping there will be a lot more to choose from this year, being a 15th anniversary year.
I've eaten at V&A often enough that the menu is repeating itself so I will be foregoing it for the signature dinners where at least I won't know what's on the menu.
I agree. V&A has become pretty predictable lately, with only a few seasonal changes. My new plan this year is have the Todd English bluezoo chefs tasting menu and/or the chef's counter at Flying Fish to try if I can't find (or heaven forbid get shut out of) festival signature dinners I want to try.
I'm going to hold off on booking ADRs until after the July 20th booking frenzy.
Thanks, I loved your reviews! Detailed, helpful, and also a lot of fun.![]()
Thanks! I hope my reviews gave you a better understanding of wine pairing events. You can see that even a celebrity chef can really muck up a meal. I didn't get drunk at the Flying Fish meal, even though we were served a lot of champagne.
