2010 DVC Annual Meeting Report

The Dis Boards are now going to EXPLODE!!

Well not yet, not until the details are released. I wonder if a question was asked of JL about resales vs. direct points purchases and the loyalty program? If the no mention means he evaded the question or it simply wasn't mentioned in the discussion?

Hopefully now those wanting to purchase resales will wait until after Jan. 1...:rolleyes1

DVC is very close to implementing a tiered loyalty program - which will be based on direct purchase points and referrals.

What are referrals? When you get someone else to buy DVC?

So I assume this means resale points will not count for this loyalty program.

That's what it is sounding like. So, what about the rumored $1000 membership fee? This might be where a possible conversion comes into play... We shall soon know!

I figure it is going to be something close to this:

ASHEVILLE, NC (March 8, 2010) — The Festiva Adventure Club recently launched a Loyalty Program for select members that offers more services, amenities and flexibility to both new and existing members who have purchased higher levels of annual points.

Members who qualify for this program can take advantage of accommodations upgrades, early check-in, late check-out, a priority phone line, priority reservation windows and more. The Loyalty Program also offers special vacationing opportunities throughout the year to certain resorts within the Festiva Adventure Club family and Exclusive Escapes to properties worldwide that are outside of Festiva’s network of resorts.

Or some variation DVC style. Basically it will have to be something that will not cost any money or very little to implement.

First of, thanks for posting updates.

And second... I just have to ask did they preface that announcement with "Based on member survey result...", "Based on member feedback...", or "To increase member satisfaction..." :lmao:

sorry, just had to go there :rolleyes1

The comment was in response to a member question about perks for members. The member asking had 1600 points. Jim Lewis stated that this was a frequently asked question and that they were close to having something to announce.

DVC is also being hit hard by foreclosures. JL offered the lady with 1600 points a hug after the meeting.

Wow... I guess if I have 1600pts I'd be interested in special perks as well...

Can't wait for more update.
Thanks Doc and Liferbabe.

Ooh curious, anyone mentioned anything about excessive wear & tear at BLT?

As for BLT issues, their manager was not available for comment. Hmmmmm:)

Had another MGR read blt improvements, supposedly on vacay.

And this guy is asking for perks??? If he owns 1600 points, I'm guessing that he could financially afford any perks he wanted.

Where I come from, we call that guy a "tool"!

I can guess that our point total will be enough to get loyalty credit for booking a stay using our points...

No where near 1,600. Not... even... close...

They'll allow me to pay my dues in a lump sum in January instead of making me pay a little each month via direct debit from my account.

Priority reservation windows is what concerns me. I count on the 11 month window to get the boardwalk view at BWV. If others can make reservations earlier, I may not get it.

This is also what I'm concerned about. When I bought in March 2010 (Direct from Disney) I was told we all had the 11 month window at our home resort. If they take this away from me because I don't have an abundance of points and give the advantage to someone who has had the ablity to purchase more points I don't find that fair in the advertizing of the product. I was told I would be treated equally to all DVC members with respect to booking windows. I am happy (for now, may have to look at other home resorts later) with my home resort and don't feel I need the option of booking elsewhere at 7 months but I like having that option. This is something that all those people who bought in with 50-100 points directly from Disney will be very upset about and not something they had advertized when they offered the low point buy in.

I really don't think Disney will do this.I don't think they would give priority booking to folks with more points. It wouldn't't be fair (Un-disney like) The majority of DVC folks probably have from 150 to 250 pts
I also think they will continue to keep the 11 / 7 month window. It is what makes DVC unique.:cloud9: Just my thoughts on the subject..

I think this concerns everyone (or most of us). While I have alot of points (but no where near the 1000 club), they are split between 3 resorts which keeps the total for each resort lower than an overall number.
