2010/2011 Armed Forces Salute Tickets

How many of your cousins are active duty, reservist on active orders, or retired?

Correction, it's not just reservists on active duty, a drilling reservist/national guard can use them too, we just did last week and last year.

My precious 90 year old grandmother who is a military widow (my grandfather was in WWII) bought us tickets from the base for our Disney trip in May. She is unable physically to go with us to activate the tickets. Is this going to be a huge problem for us? Any suggestions? Thanks.

How nice of her! If it is the regular Magic Your Way discounted tickets, you will have no problem. But, if it the Military Salute 4 day tix, you will not be able to use them without her there to activate them once you arrive at WDW.

Like the previous poster said, if they're the 4 day tickets, no, you can't use them unless she comes and activates them, unless someone lese in your party is military. There are no exceptions to this. I'd see if she can possibly take them back and get her money returned.

If they are the $138 (or $165) Armed Forces Salute four day tickets you are completely out of luck. Those tickets must be activated at a WDW Ticket or Guest Relations window. The person doing the activation must have either a current valid active or retired military ID card or a DD-1173 indicating either Spouse or Unremarried Widow. Without activation by one of these people they will not work in any turnstile.

If you go to the locked sticky Everything About WDW Tickets in this Forum, especially Post #17, you can get a lot more information. An easy way to get to the sticky is by clicking on the link in my signature. The ticket sticky is your friend!

My mom just got her ID card renewed last week & it's a DD form 1173. It shows my dad as the deceased sponsor. It shows the relationship as DB. Does anyone know what that stands for? We just want to make sure she will be entitled to the tickets when we arrive at Shades of Green.

It means Deceased Beneficiary

As the PP said, it means Death Beneficiary. Here is a link to the Survivors Family Program offered through Shades of Green.

The presence of "DB" (Death Beneficiary) or "Unremarried Widow" in the Sponsorship Status/Relationship field on identification cards or by presentation of the DD1300 will serve to identify eligibility.

Yes, my card says that too, when I updated it after my DH passed in 2009. I asked the clerk doing the card and she said it stood for "Deceased Beneficiary." I guess that's another way of saying unremarried widow/er.

I asked your question on these boards myself, and was assured it was OK. And I have been to WDW since. There were no problems or questions when I showed the card for tickets or Disney resort check-in using military discount.

Have a very nice trip to WDW.

With the water park option can I go to the water parks on the 5th day or do I have to use the option in the 4 days the ticket is good for?

If you get the water parks option you can actually spend 8 days total, 4 days at the park and 4 at the water parks

This is true, but also remember that if you leave one of the water parks during the day to (for ex) go to Disney Quest, then you will have used up 2 WPF&M admissions in one day.

This is a "canned" response modified for the Armed Forces Salute 2011/2012 tickets with the assumption you have both the Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More (WPF&M) options.

Hopefully this will make it a little clearer. In effect you have two tickets with different privileges on one card. Everything expires at Midnight on Sunday September 30, 2012. Even if you use up all your major park days, the WPF&M entries remain valid until used or 9/30/12. (Note you do not have to use the days consecutively.)

You have four days of access to the four major parks (AK, DHS, EC, MK), and may visit more than one major park on a single day without any extra charges. Without the Park Hopper option you can only go to one major park per day.

You have four entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, OT, TL, WWS). These may or may not be used on the same days as you go to the major parks. However, if you went to TL in the morning, Oak Trail in the afternoon, and Disney Quest in the evening of one day you would have used three of the four entries. (Note that leaving and returning to the same minor park on the same day does not use an extra entry.)

If you go to minor parks only on one day and do not go to a major park you do not use up one of your major park days.

If you were to go to a Water Park in the morning and then one of the major parks for the remainder of the day you would have used one minor park entry and one day of major park entry.

Note that with the ticket unless you have the hopper option you can only go to one major park per day. Unless you have the WPF&M option you cannot go to a minor park without upgrading or purchasing a separate ticket.

Quick question regarding the blackout dates coming up April 1-12th, is it just for Magic Kingdom or is it all 4 parks? My friend thinks it is all of them but I believe it is just MK.

Also- Is there any chance this restriction could be lifted?

Thanks!!!

It is MK only, and this is written on the tickets themselves when you get them. I think it is unlikely that the restriction will be lifted - that is a busy time, and, as I said, it is actually written on the tickets, so I think they believe it is pretty permanent.

Have a great time! :goodvibes

DH and I only went to the park for 2 days back in November. Will we be able to use the remainder of the tickets for our trip in May? Or are we out of luck the tickets have until Sept 30, 2012 on them. But wasn't sure if they had to be used all at one time.

The Military Salute tickets are non-expiring, so you can use the remaining 2 days in May.
