2010/2011 Armed Forces Salute Tickets

If you add dining to a military discounted room, and also use the discounted 4 day tickets, does Disney still consider it a package? I think they do but just clarifying. What I really need to know is how long before the trip do you have to decide if you want to add dining?

You can add dining up to 7 days before your arrival. (Or maybe it's 10, not enough coffee yet this morning, but it's one of the two.) The room with your military discount plus added dining makes your vacation a package. Tickets are separate. Keep in mind though that package rules apply, and the rules are different as opposed to a room only.

Trying to help a friend plan a WDW trip with her in laws.

Her FIL is retired military. Her in laws want to go for their anniversary.

There would be FIL, MIL, SIL, SIL's DH, my friend & her DH and 4 children (1 under 3) so total of 9 tickets needed.

My friend's MIL said she could buy tickets with her ID and FIL could buy tickets with his ID but I told her from what I read they can only buy a total of 6.

But this from the sticky is confusing me:
Disney has added (on June 8, 2011) to the internal rules: "Guests may participate in this offer as often as they wish as long as no more than six (6) tickets are sold in each transaction." But it still limits activation by a spouse to five tickets; to activate six tickets the service member must be present.

They plan to arrive on Friday but not go to the parks until Saturday. Could they activate some tickets on Friday and then the rest the next day?

They seem to be getting bad info from a travel agent. The TA told them they could buy as many "days" of DDP as they wanted. They are only going for 3 nights and don't plan on going to the park that first day even though they arrive at MCO at 11am.:confused3 The MIL wants to have an anniversary dinner at CRT and the TA said not to worry about it being 2 points because they can use the DDP credits from their check out day.

Sounds like a nightmare trip to me!

They can activate them all on Friday. You don't have to use them the day they are activated. Not sure about buying more than 6 though.

LOves Dumbo:
they can buy a total of 12 over the 2 year ( so far) lifespan of the promotion, but only 6 per day if the FiL has not yet used any of his entitlements they will be able to buy all 9. However they may only be able to buy 6 one day and the other three the next day( that being said there is a possibility that only 6 in a week may be purchased there has been confusion on that score)

the "as often as you want' was rescinded almost immediately.. it is 6 per year of the promo and they are allowing you to rollover your entitlement so if you did not use all six the first year you can add them to your 6 from this year.

as for the DDP: when you purchase the plan you get X number of credits. you could, theoretically, use all your credits in one day if you were a glutton and ate at Signatures for all meals. A lot of times you will see people saying they have a butt ton of snack credits left over on their last day in the parks so they stock up in prepackaged stuff at the candy shop to take home with them.

as long as you keep track of the type of credits( Counter service, table service and Snack) you have and how you use them, you will be fine.

So they may or may not be able to buy all 9 tickets. I should tell them not to count on it!

The TA was saying they could purchase 4 days worth of DDP credits if they wanted for their 3 night stay. I've never heard of that being allowed. I've always understood it to be based on the nights of your stay. So if they go for 3 nights and get regular DDP they will have 3 TS, 3 CS and 3 snacks. If they go to CRT and use 2 TS there they only have 1 other TS to use for thier trip. They want to have TS dinners all 3 nights.

hmmm that is a new one on me, I am not sure how the plan is purchased.. nights in the resort or days in the park( lots of people will do all or part of a day in the parks on first and/or last days)

we don't do either( and don't do DDP) so it's never been anything I gave a flying leap about researching. they may have to pay OOP for one TS.. or adjust accordingly.

DDP is based on nights in the Resort. And the credits are valid from the time of check-in through midnight on the day of check out.

If they want to do CRT plus three TS dinners, they may want to look at the availability of the Deluxe Dining Plan.

But it sounds as if the TA does not know what the rules are.

I agree about the TA. So now my friend is an tough spot. She knows I'm right but her MIL doesn't know me and is inclined to believe the TA-the TA should be the expert.

I was going to suggest that they either do Deluxe DDP or none at all. I prefer to pay OOP then I can get exactly what I want but I can see the advantage to them of having it all prepaid-but it really won't be all prepaid unless they do DxDDP.

How about the 6 ticket limit? Can they do 6 one day and 3 the next?

You know, it's funny just how many TA's are wrong, I just can't believe it. That's why I like to book my trips myself and I like having control of my reservation anyway.

Can't they just look at the confirmation and see what was booked?

Regarding the 6 tickets one day and 3 the next, no, it is only 6 per week that can be activated, unless the service member has more than 5 dependants, then they have to have a form from DEERS stating the service member has more than 5 dependants.

they can always hit Shades of Green to get the regular Military discount tickets.. no tax either. and if they do it right, then they will only have to buy Kids tickets.

Yeah, I meant to say that, looks like all the adults can do the $138 tickets.

Does anyone remember when WDW announced the extension of this deal last year? Trying to plan a fall trip and was just wondering if there is a possibility of getting a military room/ticket discount. I know nothing is definite, but just curious.

Question on ticket upgrades:

My husband is military and we purchased the Salute tickets for my sister and her husband last November. He activated them, and they used 3 of the 4 park-hopping days on the tickets, so they have one more day they can use before 9/30. My question is, could they upgrade the tickets to add the WPF&M options without my husband present?

Thanks!

Disney Military Promotional Tickets (including any options) expire and may not be used after September 30, 2012.

Pretty sure it is NOT after 14 days of first use.

Really?! We purchased the military tickets here on base and that is what they told us. I guess I shouldn't be surprised because they also gave us the wrong black out dates.
