I think I've decided to look at it this way. If they can build all those premium sites and get top dollar for them, then so be it and more power to them.

However, with the price of fuel and those big rigs using so much of it, I've got a feeling they are NOT going to be able to fill them all at that premium price and us folks that watch discounts like vultures will be able to snap them up like hotcakes when they come out.

There will always be clueless folks that just call and not worry about the price, so they will get it for some sites.

Oh, I am not finished. They "claimed" that AAA rates were ONLY available for premium hookups. I will call again tomorrow and harass. I also have to call and modify my LD ressies. We will see (insert evil laugh here).

Hey Jen ~

Not sure if you've gotten your AAA discount yet, but I wanted to let you know that I just this second got off the phone with WDW reservations (I think the cast members name was "Barrett"), and he was able to apply my AAA discount to my existing reservation on a preferred site in April. So, call and start harrassing because you can get the discount on the preferred sites no matter what the other "Joe cast members" say. Hope that helps! :)

I don't think Disney makes it very easy to get discounts. I try every once in a while to get the AAA discount for our trip in December but they aren't available. I do try and look for codes too. Worked the first year but last year it didn't. It can be frustrating. :headache:

Trust me, if they are sitting there with a lot of unfilled sites, the discounts will magically appear. :wizard:

The reason it is easier to get discounts at the other resorts is because they generally have vacant rooms. Since FW stays full w/o discounts, they have no incentive to offer any. If people stop booking because of the price, either the price will go down or discounts will be offered.

I called for 12 AAA discounts today for clients, and I got 6 of them. But, out of the other 6 that were left, 3 of them went down in price because the 2009 prices weren't guaranteed when we reserved the sites, and when the "real" rates came out, they were actually cheaper!! :)

Now, I also want to remind everyone to please keep personal comments about each other to PMs and emails. No need to air everything here on the boards. If you have no idea what I'm talking about - it's because I deleted some posts. :)

I just got done updating the prices on my web page (link below) and yes, while prices went up IMHO it could be a lot worse. Most went up $2 - $10.

The problem is that on top of the price increase, there is another $10 for premium. Comparing like sites to like sites it seems like a normal Disney price increase. Where it looks the worst is when you compare the most expensive site 2008 pricing (preferred holiday $99) to the most expensive site 2009 pricing (premium Christmas week $116) it seems like more of an increase than it actually is.

When you come down to it I guess it's an average of $6 a night for like sites.

What will be the killer is that of the 20 loops, the plans appear to have 11 premium, 7 preferred and 2 partial, thus pushing folks into premium who may not have wanted them. I know full hook up is still on the price list, but I think that is just because not all loops will be converted [prior to January 1, 2009.

Yep, the killer is all the premium loops for me. I have only stayed in the old preferred once and that is when I got this great discount. I didn't find the use for paying the extra money for just having the privilege of having cable. Since I have Direct TV, I found even less use for it. So, having 11 loops converted to premium is a real killer for me. Even more of a killer is the fact that only 3 loops are preferred. (I was under the impression that 4 are full not preferred) I really think it stinks.

Tim, I was told that 1600-1900 are going to stay full hookup and not go to preferred, even with cable, due to the location. Of course, we all know that some CMs think they know more than they actually do. But I know it would be rotten to pay the same rate for those loops as 100-300.

The 2009 price increase would have been better served if they would charge according to the day......higher on the weekends and cheaper during the week........

Why punish your extended stayer..:confused3

They do charge according to the day. Friday/Saturday nights are on usually $2 a day more. This started with the 2008 rate plan.

I have a AAA discount for my trip in December, but it was a special through AAA, where if you booked by the end of January (or something like that), you got the rate and after that they weren't offering the discount anymore. Keep a lookout, though. I bet after August, they will start releasing other (maybe even better) discounts.

That would be nice. I will keep my eyes and ears open. :listen:

I was looking at having the weekenders absorb 100% of the price increases and reward the weekdayer.....
