2009 Rates are OUT!!!

I know, I am venting. As soon as Chris gets home with the AAA card (why he went to work with it beats me) I will call and get it changed to AAA rate preferred or full. It just burns my hide that they hiked the hell out of the rates for minimal upgrades.:headache:

We like to stay for an extended time in the summer. I am going to keep it for now, but don't know if it will stay like that because of the rates. It is just a really steep hike. I can handle hikes, just not steep ones.

Girl I feel your pain, I have three different rates in with my reservations, how stupid is that I have never in my life been so confused looking at a simple campground reservations. :confused3

You're right Carol, no need for doom and gloom, thanks for the info!!

OK, I just got off the phone and got AAA rate applied. It is only a 10% savings, but I will take what I can get. Still seems high. Partial sites are not much higher. I may switch to a tent. We can tent for 2 weeks for 800 less than being in our camper. That is 3 months camper payment!!

I did talk to the CM about the loops. He seemed more familiar with FW than most. Of course, who knows. This is what he said. 1600-1900 are going to stay full hookup even after they add cable due to their location. 100-300 will be preferred. 400-1400 premium and 1500 & 2000 partial. That seems like an awful high number of loops to be premium. That would be 4 loops full, 3 loops preferred, 2 loops partial, and 11 loops premium??? Is that right?

I think I am in sticker shock because we always go in value season and we are going in peak. I wish I could change our dates. I am praying that the army allows either Jan (meaning they return from deployment early) or May (which means dh will defer his block leave and be the chaplain on call while the rest of the unit takes leave). I will be happy with both. Regular season would save us $20 a night. Value would save us $30 a night. Otherwise, we will be in a tent.

With this information, I beg to differ. Sounds like a lot of competition for very few spaces at certain prices. Supply and demand is one thing, but this counting on people wanting to pay prices on a prevost budget. (Which is assuming they don't care what it costs) Unless I win lotto or someone offers to pay my way, I don't have that luxury. I will have to compete for the reduced amount of spaces available for the 7 loops. What a nightmare.:headache:

I see what you are saying Jen. I agree. They have taken over a lot of the loops with Premium sites with a VERY premium price.

I am fortunate that I can stay in partial with my little camper, so have 9 loops to choose from.

We'll just have to watch and see if EVERY site in the "improved" loops are going to be improved. That may open up more availability in the "preferred" category. Some of those sites are pretty tight already. Wondering if they are going to totally strip some of those loops and actually reduce the number of sites to get the size they are talking about.

Sounds like they're pricing you and others out of the Fort. I really am sorry to hear that.

Jen, Totally agree with you. The prices are increasing dramatically. For those of us that don't have a prevost budget, or can't stay in a tent due to pets or don't have the luxury of staying with our relatives when we visit the fort -- it's becoming quite costly.

I agree that they are going above and beyond with their pricing. Although I would like one of these rich relatives to pay for my trips, where do I get one of them ;)

Just got off the phone with WDW, changed down to a full...still a whoppin 78 during the week and 80 for the weekend. Don't know how long I am going to keep the stay for. Right now, I have it for 15 nights. Just can't justify it at that price. Can't find a rich relative either. So, since I have a year to play with, I will keep it and find out if Disney will stay greedy or grab a clue. It will give me more things to bend the manager's ear about during Labor Day.

I take it you werent' able to get AAA rate yet??

It looks like a $6 - $7 increase for the full hookups over that time this year

Oh, I am not finished. They "claimed" that AAA rates were ONLY available for premium hookups. I will call again tomorrow and harass. I also have to call and modify my LD ressies. We will see (insert evil laugh here).

I just thought of something. You know they could take all this concrete, asphalt and coquina that they are digging up and fill in the dropoffs in the 1900 loop to level it out.

I think most of us would love to have a rich relative. ;)

I imagine it will be the gas prices that get us first before the rates do. We only get to come once a year so the rates don't really bother me as much. Everything is going up. While the economy is a mess Disney's costs for running things is still going up so they have to pass it on. Just like most other businesses.

It is still cheaper for us to stay at the Fort then at one of the resorts.

JMHO I am not trying to start another battle here like everyone has been having for the past week or so. Just trying to tell you how I feel. I am sorry for those of you who get to go on a regular basis and they are pricing you out. I would feel the same way in your shoes.

Nah, they wouldn't think of that. That would require forethought and intelligence.;)

I was just over on the resort boards. Seems like the campers (or me in particular) aren't the only ones who are in sticker shock.

Very good point. As sad as it is, Disney's first responsibility isn't to us, it's to their shareholders. And in this economy, with food, gas, electric, you name it going up, even though Disney won't admit it, I'm sure they are feeling the pressure.

You seriously have been sprinkled with pixie dust one to many times.

No, just being a realist, I realize that when companies expenses go up, they charge more. All companies do it, has nothing to do with Disney or "pixie dust". Look how expensive food has become, gas, services, etc... Is Disney not going to do the same thing that all other companies do? It's not that I like it, or that I want to pay more...lol. It's just the way the world works (in my opinion).

I'm sorry that I don't jump in with all the bashing, it's just a different point of view is all. Feel free to express yours, and I will do the same :)

Ummm Since I have never camped at the fort, does this mean I cant comment on the rates at all?? :confused3

Seems there are rules about lenght/time of stay and one's opinions here just wanted to know what those were before commenting.

Thanks! :upsidedow
