2009 mugs different?

I am sure they're just being cheap and trying to sell all the old mugs before putting out the new ones. They should start selling the new ones (which I am sure are packed in a warehouse just waiting) and just put the old ones on clearance.

Just back last night. We stayed at POP and got the old mugs. The cashier told me that they have tons of the YOMD mugs left and have to use those up before the new ones get put out.

Oh yeah - we saw 4 different families still using the old POP Century mugs from about 4 years ago and 1 family using All Star Sports mugs. :sad2:

What can you get in the mugs, soda? juice? milk? coffee?

We will be at the Boardwalk.. Where do we get them and where can we get the refills... maybe the bakery!

yes you can buy them at the bakery as well as the refills there and leaping libations pool bar those are the only ones i know of

Just as an FYI to everyone... Two years ago I was at POP the end of March for a cheer competition. At that time the YOAMD was in full swing. However.. they still had the "POP" mugs being sold. I was lucky enough to return the first weekend in May (about 5-6 weeks later) and the YOAMD mugs were in stock. The turnover had happened between my trips for the same reason. They sold all the old mugs first. Just wanted to post so you all could use this as a guide to when the new mugs may become available. When they do, please someone post a pic! I want a new mug hopefully this summer! :)

That's a great example to remember, so thanks for posting it. :thumbsup2

Just back today and I am sad to report they are still using the old 08 mugs and Xmas napkins, plates and cups all over the resorts and parks....TOTALLY TACKY

We saw the new napkin in the AK on 1/19. So they are out there. They are blue and yellow print that says celebrate with a hat and mickey confetti shapes, if I remember right.

Ok, they have the new red paper cups in a few locations. I have also seen the Celebrate napkins at some locations. I have also seen some Holiday cups floating around :confused3 but I noticed they are phasing in the new stuff.

I am just guessing, but I would assume the new refillable mugs will look similar to the paper cups, red background with blue and yellow party hats and confetti.

Correct... I was thinking since YOAMD was over so was the deal with the mugs. :flower3:

I hope this thread doesn't start get into the "dreaded" mug debate and get closed.
I was just hoping maybe we could get get an update on what the new mugs may look like...

I'd guess it all depends on what the new signs say at the mug stations-if there are new signs.

IMO, it will be hard to enforce taking a back step with those rules-allowing the mugs to be used at all resorts (except CSR) for 2 years and then changing it back.

I'll bet they figured they weren't losing any money for it to matter, by allowing the universal mugs thing. The price of soda is SO cheap or them.

Of course, if they go back to resort specific mugs, it would be easy enough to back up with those rules and go back to a resort specific rule. I for one would welcome this as I miss the resort specific mugs!!!!:goodvibes

No they are not and they can not be sold until the Resort counter service locations sell out of the Year of a Million Dreams mugs.

As of 10 days ago I know Boardwalk Bakery, Saratoga Springs, Port Orleans and the Poly still had plenty of the old mugs.

Hopefully lots of people will get the new Quick Service Dining Plan and snatch them all up! :cool1:

Yes, YOMD mugs were pretty when they first came out but how many can one family really use? My plan was to throw them out at the end of our trip (we have 4 at home already) but I just couldn't do. We brought them home and my daughter filled them all with candy and gave them to her friends as loot bags at her Disney theme birthday party. I thought that would be the last we saw of them since we weren't going back to the world till this coming March! I was hoping to get a resort specific one. Guess I'll just have to wait till we go back another time.

I wonder if it's taking so long to go through the old mugs because they are universal to all the resorts. This makes it much easier to re-use the mugs on later trips, thus decreasing the amount of people who buy new ones.

Every year it seems the mugs don't get used up till sometime in May so I wouldn't count on the new mugs being put out in the near future.

Wow! I had no idea it has been that long in the past! I'm glad we usually go in November and December.

Oh man, I hope not... I don't want the blue ones. :sad2:
We're heading down Thursday, and I was hoping since we'd hit the end of January that the new ones would hit the shelves.

Out of curiosity... If there is such a large surplus of mugs at the end of the year, why the heck does Disney order so darn many!?!?
