2009 DVC Annual Meeting Report

Did they mention when the pool at SSR would be done? Since it passed I'm guessing they could start very soon and probably finish mid 2010?

No timetable was announced, only that it is a 2010 project at the resort. It really looks like it will be a great addition at SSR and will share a good bit of the load at HRS pool and offer a closer option for those at the Carousel and Paddock areas at SSR.

I seems like requests will no longer be "anywhere but Carousel or Paddock".

No, these meetings tend to deal with general information. The VB pool work is planned for 2010, but nothing specific was mentioned.

All of the reports from the DVC resort General Managers had no rigid timetable - most were just "planned for 2010" or "starting work in spring 2010".

Thanks for the excellent report DVC Mike. One question: did anyone ask when will we get the 2011 point charts and whether they were going to reallocate again?

I was one of the last to ask a question. I commented that the notification of last year's point re-allocation was very late, only a few days before the opening of the 11 month window. And when would the 2011 point charts come out, and if there would be another re-allocation.

The non-answer I got was mostly why they re-allocated last year. She finally mentioned that they are currently 'evaluating' the 2011 point charts, and to keep checking the member website for them to be posted.

With that answer, I think another re-allocation is not at all unlikely.

I asked about the current status of the loan provided by DVD to the HH owners needed to accelerate the reserve fund to cover needed repairs ahead of schedule. This was approved back in 2006 and caused a significant dues increase at that resort beginning in 2007. The loan will be paid back to DVD at the end of 2012, at which time HH dues will be reduced by the amount of the loan payment.

Doc, Do you think this will mean a significant reduction in dues for HH in 2012?

Thanks so much for the report! :thumbsup2

Just curious. Do you think that by the way they reported the expansion to SSR Paddock to include a new/updated pool area with a "quick service" restaurant that it will be a real quick service or just a seasonal pool bar with limited operating hours and food options. It would be great if it was a real quick service!

Hey, I can dream, can't I? :goodvibes

Any mention of a CS, or more food options at Kidani Village??

I'd love to know more about this too.

Great addition - I'm so happy for the SSR owners! We enjoyed our stays there but I cringed when they first tried to stick us out in in the paddock. If this were there I would have been so happy with it.

Btw - if that's the slide wrapped around the silo in Mike's pic of the concept art, this acrophob won't be found anywhere near the top of the thing.:scared1:

I'd imagine a Kidani CS upgrade would be a few years, yet. DVC knew for a few years that SSR needed more food, and they are finally doing it.

I think Hearing "burgers" should mean a more full-time CS (as burgers usually require a more equipted kitchen than the stands that sell cold sandwiches, or only have a few table-top panini grills), are there any part-time burger stands? I know there are several part-time resort cold sandwich places...

That said, You'd only need a freezer and an outdoor grill to add burgers to a menu, so adding burgers can be less capital intensitive in the real world..

Thanks to both of you for the great reports!

Interesting non-answer dvc_john about the 2011 charts. I wonder what is coming our way this year...

Great news about the pool at SSR and the OKW referb.

Would be nice if they addressed the Counter Service issue at Kidani as well...

At the 1:00 pm DVC event in the Yacht Club Convention Center it was mentioned that the 2000 point limit is now 4000 points.

Some very significant holiday discounts offered to those in attendance depending on how many points purchased ranging from $17 to $23 per point. Sales must be very slow.

Thanks for the great updates on the meeting.

Just curious, has there ever been any discussion of DVC running the annual meeting as a webcast ? Members could then view, listen in, even if we can't be there in person.

After the meeting, I had a chance to talk to Kimberly Marinaccio, General Manager of Animal Kingdom Lodge. She mentioned that Disney is looking at the possibility of adding some QS offerings to the Kidani pool area. She also liked the idea of a more diverse offering of warm food in the Jambo Concierge Lounge. :goodvibes

First, thanks to Doc & Mike for the reports!

There will be a minor adjustment at most resorts due to the actual property taxes.
...
BLT will have a credit of 0.78 per point and VGC will have a credit of 0.83 per point - both of these wll be prorate based on purchase date (just as the 2009 dues were prorated).

Does that mean (practically) no tax component for BLT or VGC owners from 2009 dues? :confused3 And am I correct in assuming the announced 2010 dues [$3.7756 and $3.9388] are the "base" ones and therefore get reduced by those prorated amounts for those of us who owned (and paid) in '09?

TIA!
